Make sure you don't use an outdated version of your emulator or it may not be able to load the ROM file for this game (you may get a black screen or "file too big" errors).
If you want to use the MSU-1 video and voice files, also check if the emulator supports them (the translators recommend

Google "Tokimeki Memorial SNES ROM" and download it. The patch page lists ROM's "target file specifications", so after you download the ROM make sure you got the correct one (the filename may be a bit different, like using v.1.1 instead of Rev 1). If the ROM file you download is inside a ZIP/RAR archive, extract it too. The ROM file should have SFC or SMC for the extension.
The patch is an IPS file so all you should have to do is put it in the same folder as the ROM and give it the same filename. Or you could permanently add the patch to the ROM file with an IPS patching application

if you're having trouble with your emulator recognizing the IPS file.
Launch your emulator of choice and open the ROM file with it. If the game doesn't run, try with a different emulator. If you've using that emulator for the first time, check keyboard/hotkey/input config. If you want MSU-1 additions, close the emulator to follow the next step:

For Snes9x, you only have to put the files in the same folder as the ROM and match their filenames with the ROM (somename.sfc, somename.msu, somename-1.pcm, somename-2.pcm...; renaming just the ROM instead of all the MSU-1 files should be fine) and you don't need BML and XML files.
