Admittedly, especially as we near the end of the month, I get more prone to leaving new ones and checking out your monthly review, then seeing which ones take my fancy from there! The thing with those genres is, I quite like a good hotwife game. Finding a good one, though, that's the issue.
Haha you dont need to wait - 9 times out of 10, we have discussed them anyway. As for a hot wife game... its not so much finding a good one. Its finding one I can remember the plot without merging it with the 1000 others out there

Oh, the lass in the pub toilets with a slightly distinctive name... (I wanted to say Bailey, but I looked at my cards and it's Palmer). I think I'd checked out at that point, so I saw the scene, and skimmed through some of the stuff after it. So I think I missed the details of the job offer, though I do seem to remember some sort of follow up scene - is he the guy who runs the coffee shop maybe? I think that whole pub scene was also in the middle of a free roam, which was not the best of times...
Yes, that's all true.
I hanged with Sickimtrack a bit longer, playing to the end of Chapter 2 and willing to give it another shot later, but when Ch. 3 started with yet more screentime for Tatum and her pals (who I really disliked), I got like, 'screw it'.

TonyMurray - don't know if you have checked out Heart Problems. It just had a recent update. For me this game is the gold standard in showing how foreplay - kissing, fondling, oral sex - really adds to the eroticism of having sex. Whatever one thinks of the girl models used, the art/art direction and animation is top notch.

This game should be marked as reference material for all game developers.

From what I've seen of it, I'd disagree, but I'd have to refresh my memory, particularly when it comes to the animations and foreplay. I dropped this one before the whole abandoned thing at 0.8, and haven't been tempted back. I only really liked one LI, if I remember rightly - the younger cousin was too annoying, the aunt didn't do it for me, and I didn't like the aunt's friend (or my friend's mum?). The only one who I kind of liked was the older cousin.

Yeah I downloaded this last night and was surprised to see i had already had saves. Checking my notes it said
"accidental download of abandoned game. Wouldn't be bothered if it never got picked up again"
I played for a little bit, failing to get a memory refresh, but bailed out quite fast. There are some characters that really grate on you.

You both are conflating content with execution. Characters and story aside, the execution of the sex scenes, IMO, are top notch. It's all subjective, of course, but I really like how it is done in this game. Far better than in the vast majority of other games.

Even if the sex scenes are the best in the industry (and I can probably guarantee they won't be, especially because that's subjective), it doesn't make a difference if the rest of the game puts you off even getting to any sex scenes...

Fair enough. Too bad though.

Simulation 69 by HotVenusStudios

This game is a bit of a weird one, but if you go into it expecting that, it’s not too bad – but if you’re looking for something realistic and believable (as far as these games go), you’re probably going to be disappointed. It’s a bit of a fan-service game I think, with various references to F95 and Patrineon, and talk of “what people want to see”, and that’s the main part of the weirdness. As the title suggests, this is a simulation, and there are “overlords” basically running the game. This does allow various changes to take place, and inconsistencies to occur, with a handy excuse once the initial explanation has been given.

I did find this a bit odd in terms of the frequency of changes. I was never quite sure whether it was just the devs making changes because a skin was easier to work with, or files were lost or something, or whether changes were always planned in order to give more instances for that element of the story. Fortunately, the character changes were not very drastic, so there was no danger of not being able to recognise someone, and those changes also didn’t happen too often, or to everyone.

The gameplay is pretty straightforward, although that does mean that there’s no real pathing – it appears that all LIs are forced. Using URM as usual, I noticed no variables being set for choices, although digging through the script, some choices did have “+love” and “+lust” triggers commented out. There are no checks for these, or any other variables, although that might of course change later down the line – I wouldn’t expect it though, given what I’ve seen of the game so far. This, and the visual changes, does make me wonder whether the devs were originally planning a more complex game and then changed tack – which isn’t a bad thing if it’s seamlessly done, which I can just about say applies here, with the plot device of the simulation being the “get out of jail free” card.

The visuals themselves look fine, and some of the girls are quite nice, although my usual complaint is definitely present, with two of the main girls in particular being too booby for my tastes. I do like how there is good variety though, given the overall size of the cast. The sex scenes are not too bad either, and even if I felt that some were a bit quick to happen, I do appreciate how reasons are given not only for the “overlords” pushing for sex scenes, but for them wanting some chemistry first. This does lead to some amusing moments that in other games would probably be quite frustrating – the typical “porn logic” scenarios, etc.

Overall, this is a game that doesn’t take anything too seriously, and it definitely helps the story. That one part of the story that the game revolves around allows for a lot of conveniences, such as fast travel and memory wipes (at least early in the game) that might take an extra scene or two to get you to the same place otherwise. It also allows some retconning of information (“How would I know they were there?” “Oh, we’ll have this person say they saw them, and texted you to let you know, we’ll put a message on your phone!”), although again I’m unsure whether this is deliberately planned, or actually retconned to cover up minor plot holes!

Some of that does sound bad, but I promise you it’s all to do with the story, and the MC being in a simulation. It’s all explained early on in the game, and that gives the devs a lot of leeway to do things that wouldn’t normally work in a game, or to fix things without either looking bad or having to go back and redo earlier scenes. If you’re looking for something light-hearted and you’re not bothered by realism, you could do worse.

Summer Scent by The Naughty Captain

After a few games recently that were not that good for me, I think this is precisely what I needed. It’s not incredible, but there’s a lot to like about Summer Scent, and for me, not too much to dislike. First off, there’s a good amount of replayability with a total of eighteen paths (although I understand only fifteen are currently available), and there’s some good variation between those paths, too – it’s not just a case of whether you get scene A or scene B. I also like how the game helps you, if you want it to, with the lighthouse mode showing you the steps you need for each path (without spoiling them in advance), and also a quick toggle to show or hide both this “lifeline” and the tracker that shows your points in various categories.

I like the story and that the game is comfortable moving at its own pace for each path, meaning you get a bit more action on some of the paths, whereas the “dual love” path for instance (my natural go-to for my first save) is a bit more of a slow-burn – and feels right for it. While what I would call the “main” paths are still progressing, some of the paths are already complete, and I also like how they are not all being drawn out to the end of the game. Fortunately for me, the main part of the story I don’t like seems focused on these shorter paths, and it’s not present in the paths that I actually want to play.

The visuals are mostly nice, although the girls aren’t my favourites in terms of looks. There’s nothing actually wrong with them, but they’re not necessarily top-tier either – though it should be noted that that in itself is not necessarily a bad thing, as it’s nice to have “normal” looking girls making up the cast of LIs for a change. Personality wise, I also liked the main two girls that I’ve spent the most time with (Eve and Cassie) and I appreciated how their attitude towards the MC was different on different paths, so they actually react to a loving MC differently to how they react to a dick MC.

The gameplay is also good, with lots of choices (as would be necessary for so many paths) – and I should note at this point that these paths are all focused around two girls, with just one of them for the third girl. The differences you get are around the affection, dominance, and submission stats, in various combinations. A lot of those choices really do make a difference when it comes to the outcome of certain scenes and the availability of other scenes.

Although there are some heavy themes here, and some dark outcomes to some of the paths, for the paths I am interested in, I thought it was quite a light game overall, and one that I rather enjoyed.

Yay, more cards for my collection! (y)
To me, Summer Scent is in the same category as Strangers on Paper - a game with a limited number of LIs and overall small scope that I mostly didn't drop because of its good writing. It does have some other factors in it favour, such as the underlying intrigue and the fact that I rate Cassie quite high (I'll probably re-evaluate it at some point though). Still, I think it's too localized in scope, while its main feature - the variability - is something I value a lot in 'general' VNs but don't really care for in AVNs.

How to Fix the Future by mr.moonmi

This one started out quite nicely, with a Future Man (or for those old enough, The Last Starfighter) vibe – a young man becomes the first in the world to beat a mysterious game, and is immediately visited by a pair of agents from the future, who take him away as the “chosen one” who will save the world.

The visuals are great, and although I’d say the LIs are mostly average (for my tastes), there are a couple who are definitely above average, and when their looks were combined with their personalities, I really liked them. Sadly, the LIs I liked the most had slower-burning relationships, with one only managing a single sex scene, and that being a simulation. The majority of the sex scenes were with LIs I cared less for, and for whom the scenes offered a couple of variations depending on which side of the scale you prefer to experience your BDSM.

The UI was pretty neat, and I like the bio pages that you get for each character – although some minor characters didn’t get a profile, for whatever reason (when what felt like lesser characters did). There’s also a glossary and a “fetishes” panel in this info section, the latter of which gives toggles for certain content (trans, lesbian, watersports, sounding, cum eating, etc.) as well as which character path/s you are on. In the bio screens, some characters have “points” and “lust” counters, although I found the distribution of these to be a bit odd, with one main character only building a couple of points throughout my whole playthrough, despite me always choosing options that felt positive towards her.

I’d call some of the choices, or the outcome of those choices, quite odd. The main one that bugged me was in learning that a character is trans, and you get to say whether you’re into that or not. I have nothing against trans people, but I’m not into them romantically or sexually, but by choosing “not”, the MC’s reaction to the trans character (a teacher) was that of disgust, and when talking to the trans character, the MC often had thoughts saying how she was disgusting, was asking her if she liked penises, and was noted to be drawing penises on her assignments. I really didn’t like this approach, although it was eventually toned down.

The story is probably the main thing that lost me though. Although I said it started out quite nicely, I did lose interest something like halfway into the currently available content (reviewed at v0.4). There were some flashforwards that didn’t seem to fit the narrative, the whole relationship (whichever variant was chosen) with Octavia, the “present day” story with the MC’s mom and the news anchor, which felt like it was going nowhere and kept getting forgotten (although it wasn’t the important storyline). By the time I was coming to the end of the current content I was skipping much of it. I found I wasn’t really interested in how to fix the future, and the only thing I was interested in was whether I’d be able to make the threesome/throuple with Cathy and Chloe happen (spoiler: no, at least not yet).

still gonna play that path cause I like her character. But the moment she tries to use that penis on the MC without any player input im probably done with her path. I don't mind my MC fucking her tho
I would say not to worry since the game used to be pretty good with player's choices, but seeing as the last few updates it started to not only ignore player input, but actively go against it, I would sleep with the back towards the wall and a closed mouth if I was you :Kappa:
