This is exactly what I meant on the previous page when I said its lost its way a bit. unfortunately there are just too many paths now, the replayability factor has gone and is just tedious

Leap of Faith by DriftyGames

This one’s really difficult to review. Not because of the hard-hitting bit that people tend to talk about when discussing this game initially, but because I just don’t know what to make of it, especially when trying to put it in a positive light. There are some good things about it, and some not so good things about it, but I think it does overall come out at a net positive.

Talking with my friend Lagunavii, who had been playing this game at the same time as me, I felt that the more I spoke about it, the worse it sounded. The bits I don’t like about the game definitely stick out more – but again, the overall feeling, when I ignore that, is that it’s a decent enough game. So, let’s get into it…

The story is a bit of a jumble, IMO. Lots of things happen but don’t drive the story forward, in fact, many of them could be removed with negligible (if any) impact at all. There are several scenes that promise to be revisited later on but never are – including scenes that don’t really make much sense from a story-telling perspective, and are never revisited for clarification. There are also some scenes that are explained, but the quality of the explanations really makes them seem like an afterthought.

The graphics are mostly okay, though the look of some of the girls is a bit inconsistent. One or two were a bit up and down throughout the game, while others maintained their look from start to finish. The lewd scenes were adequate but not much more than that. There were plenty of non-lewd animations in the game, but to be honest, they really didn’t work for me. I think they are intended to give the game a light-hearted feeling, many times they are specifically linked to humour, but they just didn’t resonate with me. Often, I actually thought they were cringeworthy, which means they completely missed the mark for me.

There’s a task system in the game which pops up every now and then, but the vast majority are not really things that you have any (or at least much) influence over. For instance, one of the first is to meet your friend Chris at your place, and as the story goes on, you meet him there – but it’s practically kinetic between those two points, so you can’t even go somewhere and miss the meet-up.

One main failing for me though, is the LI choice. You are free to fool around with any of the girls in the early part of the game, but then must make a choice of one (or two, in the case of the throuple). However, it’s far too early for most of the girls, as there hasn’t really been much (or even any?) opportunity to get to know them. So you’re effectively being made to make a choice based on very minimal information, and whoever you choose locks you out of content with everyone else for the rest of the game.

Overall, there are plenty of parts of this game that I think are a bit of a mess, but there are definitely some redeeming factors (even if the hottest girl in the game is barely a part of the game…). It tackles a subject you don’t generally see in this type of game, but maybe you don’t see it for a reason. If anything, I say play it for the talk around suicide, the impact people might have when they’re gone, and the emotional kick that content can have on a player (I’m not spoilering it, because it will be a trigger to some people and I won’t direct them to the game blindly), but otherwise, I don’t think it’s a high recommendation from a lewds perspective, not really from a characters perspective, and other than that topic, not for the story perspective either.

Today I finally returned to my playthrough of LoF I halted back in April 2024 and completed it.
It is, after all, a very well-written game, and I've found the funniest moment in any AVN I played with that peek/don't peek choice for Cece. I burst out laughing, which is a rare occasion. The girl herself, while not my kinda LI, is undeniably the best character of the game, and possibly the best one in the whole of AVNdom. I was, of course, kicked in the feels, but Drifty masterfully interweaves tragedy and comedy, and the ending was happy, so those are good feelings. I really hope making the game helped him with his grief. What added to the feels was Sancho telling me goodbye in the end through his mod. One by one, his other mods get outdated every day, but the mod for LoF will remain relevant forever, which is fitting for such a game. The bitter irony.

P.S.: the choice to swap Lexi for Linda was the right one after all: I'd be pissed at that kiss with Holly in the pool on her path, but on Linda's I was perfectly fine with it and even, erm, enjoyed the show.
P.P.S.: was kinda strange getting introduced to some of the u4ia girls after playing that game. Also, I failed to recognize the redhead.

It's not a harem game, no. To a point, you can go for them all, but it will start to cause problems before too long, so for ongoing saves, it's best to have dedicated runs for your chosen LIs.

This was a game with a decent idea insufficiently realised. You play as a rookie cop who is sent undercover within a crime lord’s ranks with not even your partner knowing the situation. It’s a common enough plot, but here I thought it was all too quick and easy – a pitfall of telling this sort of story in an abbreviated timeframe to fit the constraints of the game. I like how it showed what led to the MC being removed from the police force and put undercover, but I don’t think it really fit the rest of the game, with him getting close to the crime lord so easily, and building a seemingly unbreakable relationship with his partner despite only knowing her for five minutes.

I felt that the story was resolved quite quickly and easily, much like it started, and there just wasn’t enough there to make this game stand out from the pack. Likewise with the girls, they were mostly pretty, but not special, and there weren’t too many sex scenes to say much about either, especially if you made certain choices which blocked content from one girl or another. Looks aside, I didn’t feel like any of the characters stood out much. If there had been a pre-existing relationship with the MC’s partner – they’d been partnered up for years before the game started, for instance – then I feel her character would have worked, but alas, that was not the case.

The other thing that bugged me a bit was the UI. I like when a dev takes the time to make their game look different in that respect, but it should be done without taking away functionality. Most menu items seemed to take one or two more clicks than they should, and the replay gallery kicks you to the main menu at the end of a scene, rather than back to the gallery menu. Right-clicking, or clicking on the icon for it, takes you to the pause menu instead of the save menu, leading to that additional click to get to saves, and then the usual confirmations etc., and I don’t feel that’s very user friendly.

The usual screenshot shortcut was linked to saves instead (so once I found that out, at least I was able to bypass the extra clicks to save), although I found out by accident that “S” did work to take a screenshot on the transition screen between chapters, which was odd. Lastly in my UI annoyances, there’s a large icon at the bottom-right of the screen that takes you to the pause menu. This is linked to the dialogue box, so it disappears when no dialogue is shown and comes up again when someone is speaking. During a long conversation, this means the icon appears and disappears with every spoken line, making it very distracting as it practically flashes in the periphery while you’re trying to read. I ended up dropping a blank .png file into the gui folder to overwrite the icon and stop it from showing…

All this together made for an okay game, but one that I don’t think will live too long in the memory.

Looks like you drew the short end of the stick as far as undercover games go - I think that Taboo University, Broken Promises, and Criminal Attraction are all better than this one. At least the MCs of those aren't complete dumbasses early on.

Broken Promises is on my list, with a note saying it looks great. The other two are not - though I think I might have tried Taboo University before. I'll check them out.

Does it have any ties to Fetish Locator or is it pretty Stand Alone?
Difficult to say, as I didn't play Fetish Locator, but as far as I know from some discussions, the ties are there but fairly minor. Also, it's a prequel to FL, so the story starts fresh anyway.

I didn't played since looong time ago.Actually i started many game and didn't finish them lol Someone said on broken promises, there is re-work chapters?
Yeah, improved visuals, and at least one of the MGs got a rework that changed her for the better.
