oh don't get me wrong the Dinner wasn't bad and is a great scene overall for the actually character's and build of what i assume is going to come when I finish it. Just for some reason I was not getting into it or all what I expected.

I think probably was more me not being in the mood to play since it was one of those days where I felt like I wasted alot of my time and didn't get much done as I wanted. That and maybe a little impatient for some action since it felt like I was playing a long time at that point with all the cinematic scenes where you shouldn't click pass haha. Very few characters make me feel impatient to see some scenes but Vivian for sure is one of them haha.

But it's nice to see your thoughts on the update didn't want to read the thread
Yeah, the thread is often a dumpster fire, let alone just after an update!

i didn't remember her lol i know there cleo, tracy and olivia in the game. One of cool school setting, the free roaming part kill the game.
She came up in Ep2, with a sex scene in the bathroom at the house party (maybe just a BJ). Then in Ep3, there's another couple of scenes with her, including another sex scene in her dorm room after you go to watch a movie, I think it was.

Defending Lydia Collier by White Phantom Games

I had this one sitting in my “to test” folder for about eight months before the time was finally right for me to start playing it. Now I’ve come to the end of the current content (well, 0.16.2) I don’t really know what to think of it. It felt a bit like three or four different games, just with the same MC, the same core group of characters, and the same setting. Once you missed a path, for the most part, the character completely disappeared, leading to wildly varying storylines for the different LIs.

There was also a change halfway through to a sort of management simulator game, adding that in to the regular AVN that we had until that point. I didn’t like this at all, as it’s not what I like to play, and I don’t think it was incorporated into the game that well.

Anyway, as far as the usual stuff goes, the graphics were middle of the road, and most of the LIs definitely in the same boat. There were a couple who really stood out though, and not just in looks, but in character as well. I really liked the “normal” girlfriend Steph (there are slave/bimbo options for her that I avoided), and thought there were some really nice moments with her. She was still pretty kinky, if you picked the choices for it, but I think she gave my save a bit of a wholesome feeling.

The choices, path selection aside, were not too bad, although there were some odd ones, e.g., tell your girlfriend that you’re thinking of her, or tell her you’re thinking of her hot roommate who you’ve met exactly once. Tough choice… Once you get into the management side of things though, a lot of it just felt like a lucky dip to me – Which of these teams do I want to join in a non-reversable decision? Which three of six suspects do I want to check out? Which three of four team members do I want to assign to surveil each of those…?

The overall story itself was interesting, defending a billionaire’s estranged wife from murder charges after the husband is kidnapped (but no murder is confirmed…). I just don’t feel like I really did much work on that key case, with all the other stuff going on. It made me feel that I was just being given a bunch of different girls to woo, each with their own kinky traits, and then a random story to wrap around them. I do like how the game is unashamedly British though, with some proper London vibes in setting and dialogue. It’s nice to see that every once in a while, rather than the generic fictional settings most games tend to have.

My Husband's Boss (My review) has been updated to Chapter 2, here are my thoughts on the new instalment:

Chapter 1 (originally released as v0.2) was a fantastic start to a game, with good renders, great storytelling, and fabulous cinematography. Chapter 2 may have had its dark moments that didn’t follow my tastes, but for the continuation of all those other aspects, it’s propelled MHB into my top ten!

There’s an evening’s worth of scenes in here, in four key parts, that I think displayed excellent storytelling, and then combined that with two pretty hot sex scenes. I think this part of the chapter really tempered those dark parts that were to come later. I just love how you have a swinging couple taking such tender care of an inexperienced MILF, as they guide her through a series of firsts. It was totally unexpected, but is I think quite an important addition for the character development of our female lead, and hopefully we’ll see “Sunshine” and “Rain” again in future chapters.

The dev warned us that the game would get darker, and we certainly see the start of that here. He also warned that half of us would probably like the game’s ending, and half probably not – that also seems to be true for Chapter 2, if the game thread is anything to go by. Although I didn’t like some individual scenes, either for what they included here or for what they promise for the future, I think the overall chapter was a success.

For me, this really does seem to be setting the standard for new games – a meaty opening release, reasonable update schedule, good renders, interesting characters, and key to it all, that combination of excellent written and visual storytelling.

Tony, another good, nuanced assessment from you. Sometimes I wish you'd go into more detail, but I understand why you don't. It's also remarkable that MHB made it into your top 10 after Episode 2, even though you don't particularly like the genre of the complete kinetic novel. I completely agree with that last sentence. That's a new level.

Thanks Sparta! I try to avoid too much detail as I'd be writing essays otherwise! Is there some specific detail you'd have liked to see here (or in general) though?

Unfortunately, I read it too late. I didn't know it before. MHB is my first active thread. It's a shame what's going on there.
I genuinely think much of the worst of it is knee-jerk reaction. I think it will settle down when people have a bit of distance from playing the update, and they'll realise it's not as bad as they were mad about in the first place. Plus, once it quietens down enough, the "other side" will be less drowned out, and it will allow some more reasoned discussion of it. It's often the way that you go with a gut feeling first, but then change your position a bit after some time to reflect (and maybe after playing again, in some cases).

No, I don't mean General; the games in your top 10 are far too big for that. That was more in reference to relatively short VNs like MHB and certain scenes.
Example
Although I didn’t like some individual scenes
We probably agree on the R scene. But I'm not sure which others you're referring to, as we all have different perspectives.

Yeah, that scene and the Christian scene that followed (at least the part where they discussed the signing and how Vivian turned out to like it). I get that the scenes were necessary to take us where the story is going, but I just didn't like that. I also didn't like the Marcel bit, because I can just see where that will go next, and I'd prefer it didn't. So it's more a case of just having certain "routes" I guess, that I'm not a fan of (even though it's a kinetic novel).

No idea on a rework, but yes, there is an option to go on the dark path with Helena. I'm not actually a fan of that side of it, so I went there for the content, but not on a serious save.
You say this and I genuinely hope this is the case, but that thread has been a absolute shitstorm since the games inception. the update just seemed to turned the dial on the shitstorm to 11.
This is true, to be fair. I know one of the worst culprits (IMO) said he was going to quit the game after 3 (or maybe 4) updates, because he is the oracle and knows everything that will happen and that's as far as he's interested in it. I'm just hoping he brings that forwards to quitting after 2 updates!

I mean i didn't saw u on the here since some time.
I had a period where I didn't get to any new game reviews as well, so it all went a bit quiet - nothing to react and respond to! (If you meant specifically this thread, at least...) :ROFLMAO:

Maid to Please by Tutbork

I’m going to be honest, I think I must have missed something with this one because the story felt a bit all over the place at times, with stuff happening that I just didn’t see the build-up to. The first part of this was on day three where MC meets a detective and seems to recognise her – he says her name in his head before she is introduced, but I can’t find anything earlier that tells me how he would know it. Then a whole subplot starts up around investigating this detective and I just didn’t see the catalyst for it.

Outside of that, the story was a bit on the basic side, it didn’t really have anything that sucked me in, meaning it became a simple case of picking between affection and submission points on various choices, and just going through the motions in between. Probably the only part of the story that I’ll find memorable in any way is the throwback to that choice in Acting Lessons, which just really sticks out here. Including in that scene, the MC does also narrate his own life a bit too much for my liking, taking a style that didn’t really work for me at all.

The graphics are pretty standard, and the girls are a bit hit and miss. This might seem odd for me to say, because my LI cards below are pretty complimentary, but a lot of it comes down to the right shot at the right time. The main LI is Elizabeth (or Beth), and she tends to look great all the time. I found the other girls only looked great some of the time, and other times they might really not (and a couple of them looked a bit too young at times). There were also a couple of additional LIs who I didn’t include, who would have really dragged the average down – one doesn’t really have any content yet, and I didn’t like her much anyway, and the other (who does have content, and so would normally therefore get a card by default) just looked far too young.

Once I got to a certain point, I started using the “skip” function, because I wasn’t interested in the overall story at all. Even the corruption elements didn’t really tend to do much here, and I’m not a fan of spanking, which comes up a fair few times. Romancing Beth, while seeing her get close to the new (at the start of the game) maid, Miko, became the only interesting part of the game, but not interesting enough to get me to follow this one for future updates.

(Oh, plus point that I've just remembered when uploading the cards - I was talking in a game thread yesterday about nipples and how you never tend to get a lot of variation in type or colour. That's not the case here, and I think Miko's in particular looked great, and helped to bump up her rating a fraction.)

Final chapter of Maid to Please? I picked it up at the wrong time then (not that it would have made any difference...). Or final chapter of Between 2 Worlds? That's another one that's on my list, I believe – although if it's the one I'm thinking of, I don't have a great track record with fantasy games.

So Lazyossa is active in this thread but of course he doesn't mention one of the most popular games than half of his acquaintances have recommended. That's so him.
