This isn't a mindless RPG maker game, this is a JRPG. This game actually has a lot of thought put into both it's world, combat and plot, and as a result, all blend into a pretty damn stellar game that holds up to this day... if you can ignore and stomach the crappy interface.

You have a main character, with a clear goal that he absolutely MUST achieve or else he'll be cucked of his true love. Not of her own volition, mind you, so she's worth fighting for. And from there you're essentially the bottom of the barrel, something of a hetare, fighting his way to becoming strong enough to defeat his chad rival.

This overarching plot is great, but honestly, it's the twists, turns and sub plots that really make this game shine. Because it meshes so well with the main plot. All of it serves as a test, as a roadblock, for the ultimate goal that is dangled in front of you in the form of other people's lovers, sisters etc. being cucked as a result of their partner's losing.

Only one hint: Do NOT, under any circumstances, join the Haniwa cult. No idea wtf they were thinking adding that crap, you essentially miss out on one of the best and emotional sub-plots in the entire game in exchange for nothing except a tax.

Fantastic older JRPG with a surprisingly well written story, and choke full of the classic humor and sex scenes that has characterized most of Alicesoft's works. If you are familiar with a certain line of popular alicesoft rpgs they are fairly similar, except with a decent human being for a protagonist.

Some of the more noteworthy things imo:

    1. Story: It is full of interesting plot twists and sub-plots that go well beyond the tournament you are fighting in. There is a lot here that I can't touch on without spoiling the game. But needless to say, there is a significant amount of content here.

    2. Gameplay: This is a little dated admittedly, though not nearly as bad as the first Toushin. You can expect to see a lot of dungeon crawling, jrpg style combat with level ups/stats/equipment/spellcasting, and puzzle solving.
Many of the boss fights are unwinnable without solving some kind of quest, so there isn't as much emphasis on grinding.

Biggest con is probably just the interface outside of dungeons. It is the typical old alicesoft menu based system to decide where to go/who to talk to/etc.
