I asked Koda about a release for Friday/Saturday and this is the answer:
i expect to have playtests out by then but probably not public release
we'll see though
if enough is done and it's stable I'll just make the playtest itself public and finish the loose ends while people are poking around.

While I realize no one wants to hear it, Koda actually is working on it non-stop at the moment. I've been getting an ongoing commentary on bits and pieces as he goes, so he definitely is trying to plow through it. His estimation of time is just really, really bad. It would be comically bad if we weren't all losing our shit at the delays. But yeah he is working, just never trust his ETAs because the man simply isn't calibrated for Earth's flow of time lmao

If you think that whenever we get WG 1.0, Mrs. Claus, 6.5F Pt2, the Spring Cleaning update or 7F, that there'll be enough content or level of polish in these releases to justify the multiple delays and make everyone realize that Bo and Koda were working non-stop all this time and we were wrong about them all along, then, and there's no nice way of putting this, you're extremely naive.
Koda is either lying to you like, he's been known to do (I mean, come on), or he's just now started to actually work on things, or his "work" is just endlessly fumbling the introduction of some ridiculously useless QoL feature that no one would've asked for in a million years.
And what you jokingly describe as Koda just "being bad with ETAs" is obviously more than just that by this point. If you want to actually do some good for the guy then there's no need to defend his honor in some pirate porn forum, all you have to do is encourage him to go to therapy...

I'm going to say this again: he's not mentally ill. Some people are absolutely terrible at estimating how long things will take. My ex would always say "I'll be ready in 5 minutes" and be surprised when an hour had gone by. He's not in need of therapy; he's both sane and very intelligent, believe it or not. Just not the sort of person I personally would ever let near the head of a project even if I was paid lol.
I didn't say he and Bo have been working hard all this time and it's all going to be totally worth it; I don't see what the point is in just putting words in my mouth and arguing with those since I didn't and have never said that it's all going to be worth it. I guess there's no point in me trying to convince you or the others who've made up their minds that he's the spawn of satan, and I don't want to get stuck in another argument that will never get anywhere, so instead I'll talk about my progress on the 8F stuff.
My study of battle stuff for 8F has taught me that it's a miracle battles in RPG Maker work at all. Like the structure is very inconsistent; Scarlett is entirely set up in RPG Maker but Swan battles are 100% script. I'm doing the 8F lady all in script too since it's more familiar to me but god this is a dumb system. Structurally I think my stuff is going great, but I need to do some mockups so I can properly test with assets. I was given the early concept art Bo did but what this is requires a lot of images so I'll just do some crude variations or something. 8F mechanic is going to be intense when it's all pieced together, real adrenaline-type stuff, just need to make sure the framerate doesn't oof

Lol well hopefully that is what it is. It must be really really really bad though to go from predicting 3 updates in 3 months to no updates in 3 months, or to start a 3 day countdown timer when there was still 2 months of work left to do. I'm sure he is not a dick, I reckon he just gets bogged down in relatively unimportant stuff.

You are exactly on the money. He gets distracted and goes on detours. Combine very poor gauging of time with being easily distracted and you get this; huge delays, lots of unexpected changes of plan, a whole bunch of comically paranoid people who think he's simultaneously a super genius manipulator and mentally ill.
Edoitachi himself returns! With his famously well-spoken posts. Has a rock-solid grasp on what the word hypocrite means, not to mention his astute powers of deduction; he sees that since no one here talks to Koda, and I started off thinking him a liar/moron, and deciphers that my change of opinion is a mental sickness being passed onto me! Cleverly ruling out the possibility that once you get to know somebody, you get a better idea of why they do the things they do. This conclusion is of course completely ridiculous, utterly incomprehensible, and Edoitachi swiftly dispenses with such foolishness.
In all seriousness guys, Koda has major weaknesses that are crippling to a project like this, but just because someone's incompetent doesn't mean they're a bad person. If you were having long chats with him about The Witcher or about NieR: Automata or whatever then you'd come to the same conclusions as me. He's sane, and intelligent, just really bloody hopeless. I'm not going to attempt defending him further after this since I've said all that can be said. It's not healthy to argue anyway.

If Koda and Bo had the mentality of sharing and caring about the stuff they do like you would this community would be a lot happier, but instead we get WG 1.0 which no one asked for and devs that lie all the time
