it already is destroyed around chapter 14 or thereabout when Sarah used her wedding dress to fk lester. then again when sarah slept with lester on the couple's marriage bed. While Sarah still respects Dan, but in her action, it's more of a lip service and her lust is higher than her respect for him.
I don't think Dan and Sarah have been very true to the personalities they had in early chapters for a long time. There wasn't so much an evolution as a complete abandonment of character consistency. But Don's strength isn't in realism in things like setting, motives, and actions.

Just to raise my hand to avoid us all being painted this way, I have been happily married for nearly 25 years. I can see that this is another marriage that will end, either Nolan gets psychological treatment or he will lose everything to Nate. Let's see how long Grace will protect Nolan. They have a really cool dynamic and maintain a dialogue. The problem is that it's inevitable; a woman getting a guy who makes her orgasm well is over, especially with constant sexual relations and intimacy. Lester and Sarah already make love, it's the natural path. The other felt rejected, excluded, inadequate, and that's it, even more so when he starts humiliating and badmouthing his husband. I have largely checked out of the story but it seems pretty clear Lester is a jerk. Do some people like jerks? Yeah, but you show me the sexiest woman alive and her being a jerk to waitstaff will kill all attraction instantly. Same if she's fash or bigoted or wants to hurt people for fun. Is he funny? Charming? It seems he a computer nerd with incel level hatred of other people. If she falls for that then she's broken. If she hurts the kids for him then she's broken. Dan works hard, loves his wife and loves his kids. Him being naive or vulnerable to manipulation doesn't turn me off as much as a jerk would. So yeah, I think the issue for me isn't that she's corrupted to a degree but that she would actually fall in love with a terrible person. Someone who does that is also a horrible person and if that's the case then any love or attraction for her is lost.
