Yeah, the speech bubble can tell you what to do.
It can also say that it doesn't know.
However once an action has been chosen and revealed, the game cycles through actions after that.
So if the enemy needs to be attacked, next it needs to be charged up against, then countered, then again attacked.
Some enemies have abilities that hide their first attack, and one boss reverses the cycling.
I beat the game fighting every battle without any gear upgrades without losing to any enemy.
Which honestly was not that exciting.
