Story
The setting is a rural academy in the countryside.
It is located in a town that isn’t quite as small as a village; if you drive for about an hour, you can reach a reasonably developed city. That is the kind of place where the academy stands.
In the class to which the protagonist, Sakai Nobutaka, belongs, there was a girl who had transferred in only a short while ago.
Her name is Tsukada Miki.
However, her family is very poor, and even after some time had passed since her transfer, she was unable to buy a new school uniform.
In a town that is slowly stagnating and closed off, even such trivial matters are probably enough to serve as stimulation.
Because of this, she gradually began to be shunned by her classmates.
At first, it was limited to deliberately audible remarks teasing her shabby appearance and lifestyle, or mocking laughter…
But when a rumor spread that her mother worked in the town’s sex industry, the situation changed completely.
Some of the girls, who until then had merely been onlookers, also began to badmouth her behind her back or openly ignore her.
The number of students actually taking part in the bullying is not very large, but all the other classmates act as if they don’t want to get involved, as if they don’t want any sparks to fly their way.

Nobutaka decides to support her and walk her home.
It is at that moment that Nobutaka sees Miki’s face clearly for the first time—
and from closer than ever before…
