It's a bug. You have to save before bed, and if the screen is black, just press F5. I had a black screen 2-3 times in a row.
You can use MTool, it translates pretty well now.

How is everyone even playing this game? Am I doing something wrong? I can't progress past day 2 because of the sleeping bug. I've tried reloading, using mtool to force fade in screen and clear event (this allows me to play but doesn't progress anything), and sleeping without running the game on mtool. Nothing worked. I'm sure I need to sleep to progress and unlock the "labor shortage" dialogue that pretty much everything needs in order to continue the story, since the guide says "hearing a conversation from a girl in the guild about 'about labor shortage'" and there's no such girl in the guild yet on mine, only the receptionist and the girl talking about the books. Am I crazy, or do you all know something that I don't?
I just restart every time by pressing F5. This bug happens to me, but rarely.
0.93 fixes that by not allowing you to access it for the time being or was it 0.94? anyway later versions fix that or try not to access it
the dev might not even be sending updates to DLsite until everything has been completed in chapter 1 along with the bug fixes because of that review process.

I thought it was just the content updates he wouldn't push until the very end, not the bugfixes too.
it's what I thought from the dev's ci-en but then the time it would take to approve 0.93 or whatever version DLsite is missing would be the same amount of time the dev puts out 1-2 new versions of bug fixes, so sending it out for review now wouldn't be worth it no?
I had the same issue. The error tells you what to do. You just need to go the folder (img/pictures) and rename that file. Usually, you only have to change the last number then click retry. Ex: In the game folder (img/pictures) search for the file that is missing and rename it (this case 00_status_p3_comment01_03.png). You should have a file named 00_status_p3_comment01_00.png, just change the 00 to 03 as the error tells you. Rinse and repeat. Idk why or how that can happen, but that's the solution till they release the next patch.
Reading the dev's ci-en page is kinda crazy. I can't believe he released this game and sold it for money and not only was it not finished, but he hadn't even bug tested it as far as I know. I mean, on the day of release people couldn't even get past day 2 because it just black screened, and from what I've read in the ci-en comments even now people just play the game until the bugs literally prevent them from progressing.
I guess I just don't understand why he didn't just delay it. He'd have to know the game was going to be a mess for some time before the release date. He keeps apologizing for how it turned out and how long it's taking him to fix bugs and finish the first chapter, but I don't understand why he didn't just delay the release for a month to iron everything out and make sure the game was at least playable in the first place, cause now he's just created a giant mess he needs to rush to fix.

There was trial/demo version before this and honestly some of the bugs I encounter in the 0.9 was something that I encountered back in the demo as well (albeit only really few of it now), I dunno how he make it buggy again even though after some hotfixes back during trial versions
As for rushed release, I guess the dev just want to release it as he promised after numerous delay throughout the development due to many things happened (the game was supposed to release like few months ago and the biggest delay back then was because somehow he found most of the data got corrupted during development and forgot to make backup), but yeah would be lot better if he delay it again tbh, especially the game basically still have chapter 2 and 3 to go which is like 1 month and a half or 2 month per chapter as they said but I doubt it at this point
it's probably the additional features or plugins he introduced after the trial version's feedback. you have to remember that this game is very much a wip, not to mention feature creep what with all the systems in play like the dungeon sex, alchemy, skill acquisition, triggers and flags for the rumor system. A lot of things can go wrong with that many working parts.
