Well I applied the mod over the 250422 version without adding the update and I still get that issue on starting a new game
Oh on new game, I heard it's an issue with that mod version. If you have a save, it should work, but then if you have a save from untranslated version, some things will break because of text in the save file, so it's a bit problematic until I update

Ah, I see. I guess I'll wait then. Thanks for the updates regardless, you're doing god's work out here.

Ok it's done!

I also rewrote some installation instructions, so hopefully everyone is able to do it. If not, feel free to ask for help here.

I will note that the translations will not be perfect, considering the immense amount of dialog and various contexts, making it hard to test. But should be a lot better than the automated MTL from before. Feel free to let me know if anything needs fixing though.

By the way, I put the translated dialog into the System/talk folder now, so if you have a previous translation of the base game installed, you can get rid of the Mod_Talk folder and it should improve the startup time somewhat. Still, it can take a while, so for any players, if you encounter the game not starting, just looking black, make sure to keep the game window in focus for up to 30 seconds and hopefully it boots up. If you click on other windows, the game will completely halt until you click on the game again.

Huge thanks for all the work on this! Thinking back, I don't think I ever actually finished my play-through (not a knock against the game, just got distracted around what felt like a finale and never got back to it), so this would be a good incentive to do a fresh start.

I feel like this game seems particularly difficult to translate because a lot of the incidental battle dialogue is so *meaningful* to the game. Like, in pretty much every example of a 'battle-fuck' style game I can think of, that set-up at best just serves as a tiny bit of extra spice during battles; the main sexual content of the game will always still be outside battle, whether it be from victory, loss, or unrelated scenes entirely. Here, though, in large part, the battles *are* the scenes. I remember going from somewhat ambivalent on this game to it being a favorite the moment that clicked for me; realizing that if I stopped being on auto-pilot for fights, and actually paid attention to the details of what was happening, and let my imagination fill in further blanks, that they were actually all fairly well done interactive sex scenes.

Anyway, all that to say, again, that I really appreciate the effort you've put into refining all that (understanding that of course it still won't be perfect), and looking forward to a replay!

Yeah true, many other games have separate, statically designed scenes that play out in a specific way, or simply have specific dialog for specific attacks, while this game is very dynamic in that sense and there are many different situations that have dialog. A lot of the dialog is also different depending if it's with the protagonist or an ally succubus. Even Succubus Quest that is the main inspiration for this game is much simpler. Even though the total amount of lines between these games is not huge, the complexity and intricacy of the dialog in Succubus Rhapsodia is really challenging. I'm glad you've been enjoying it and I hope you have a good experience finishing the game, the finale is amazing!

pvtnator FYI: Small issue, not sure if it is intended (or if it is a leftover from the translation tool used), but it looks like there are a couple of SOH characters (ASCII 0x01) that are left in the translation.

The translation is otherwise correct if they are ignored.

(Might also have to do with running the game with MTool and using Unifont - which renders this character while it may not be the case with the original font)

So far, I have only encountered it in the battle text:

Yeah that must be due to MTool. I kinda have to keep it that way due to the way the game handles control characters. Why would you use MTool though, do you just prefer the font? I could look into font options as an optional mod if that'd help

I have a stupid question. How do you start the game? I'm using Locale, but it doesn't work. I can't get any pages to open.

Personally I have Japanese locale in Windows rather than using locale emulation so I'm not sure. If you just double click the executable, does it start at all? Even without correct locale it should start up, just text would be missing. It may also be that you need to extract the game with Japanese locale or some files might be corrupted

Mostly as an easy way to increase the size of the game window, but I also have some issues with the locale setup that I do not experience with MTool for this game (since I can replicate those issues without applying the translation patch, I think it is most likely an issue on my end).

If the control characters are a constraint of the engine/game, we can leave it at that - no need to dedicate too much time for this issue: changing the font with another one that handle those characters as 0-width whitespaces did the trick (alternatively, if you know the name of the font used in the game, I guess I could also switch to that one).

Will this game officially be added to the complete section now that it has a translation?
Assuming someone makes a game request thread with a copy of the game that has the translation pre-installed, yes.
Well, that's an oversimplification since it still needs to go through checks and such like every other game, but making a request thread is all any of us would have to do. The rest is up to the mods themselves.
