Ren'Py - Trapped with Ivy & Piper [v0.56] [AceX Game Studio]

Finally got around posting this review of which I had a draft for weeks now. Still rough around the edges, and trying hard to recall some stuff ;-)

[version, env] 0.31 / PC/Win/mouse
[play time] short ~6.5h? (can't accurately recall, playing normal to slow speed)

TL;DR: play if you're up for a sexy adventure with some sensual succubi of which you're not sure whether they're friend or foo. Animations are top notch (fluid, detailed & hot), there's good sex sfx, bgm, a lighthearted entertaining story and some good fapping material. Pacing is good (building up tension till the next time something goes down). No blue balling. Engaging with a LI is always interesting/new, you can 'read'/follow their reactions/emotions (facial expressions / body language).

As a (sandbox) game it's not perfect, but the fluid animations (also on potato), entertaining story & premise, lovely/sexy/deadly succubi characters warrant the 'excellent' stamp for me, although, after balancing things out, I have to give it a rating of 4 stars (for now).

Roaming around the house is a bit tedious, but not a biggie IMO. Every time of day there's progress to be made. There's no real grind. Love doing chores for Mia anyway (anything to get more affection with her ;-))

I restarted the game a couple of times to get the explanation again for the stat categories. First you may be unsure which stat is most important for what girl (not sure if there's more than a simple 1:1 mapping going on, or there needs to be a certain balance for each girl on critical moments), but you can figure out what seems to be important for whom.

There's bgm & sfx (moans, sex sounds etc.) Sfx is good but could be better. E.g. the reverse cowgirl with Ivy: some ass-hitting-your-groin sounds, or the wet shaft pussy sounds could be a more explicit/intense there as well. Missing sfx when cumming sound.
Also the Piper bj sound could be a more explicit/intense. Some throat (not gagging per se) sounds perhaps would make it even more hot.
Critical note: some sounds/loops are louder than others (resorting me to adjusting the volume up & down), and I believe a certain (moaning) loop comes with this static bg noise.

Read this 'critique' above as possible improvements; what there is is already rather satisfying, and certainly above average.

Game made me weigh each choice to make with a character carefully (considering how they affect the girl's stats). Girls give different reactions; I think some answers influence the story on their own (apart from affecting stat points) Whether it's more than just a (possible) effect on the dialogue, I'm not sure.

It's been 6 weeks, but when writing the draft I read dev's post of June 5th; hope he's getting things sorted, and feels okay enough to continue working on this currently. I'd say take your time, pace things & prioritize. Anyway, good luck where you need it!

Short summary:


This is an atrociously bad sandbox, that hides some really good animations. Author did everything in his power to make navigation and interactions frustrating and stupid. The story and the writing suck too.

The characters are hot, the story is intriguing and it feels like a proper game. Not too grindy but you should read and think what to say.

The Game is great , it could be a bit happier not so much struggle..
the girls are hot as hell...

technical issues :
cant delete the game after played, probably need to restart;
takes loads of time to start.

Good to see there's a continuation of the storyline with this secret succubus society.

The story around that is the most interesting part about the game. Love Interests are interesting characters. Dialogue and choices players make will likely affect the ending/outcome of the story.

Dev has made good sex animations previously and some of that has come through. Looking forward to more, but currently not that many for now in current version.

The gameplay is currently limited to being locked in 1 room, looking around it and clicking around. It's clunky and doesn't work so well. There's also a time cycle, but the gameplay, story and dialogue doesn't really need it at all.

It's like a weird sandbox but it's limited to 1 room, so it's kind of frustrating.

Not sure why the dev didn't just go with the classic VN type story.

+ Characters are easy to relate to, each with their own worries and problems
+ character powers are used well to enhance scenes

Cons
- Sometimes key items can be difficult to find (e.g. green diamond key)
- The game doesn't explain the significance of each stat, you can't just hover over the icon to see what it's called. It would be helpful if you could hover the icon and a text box shows up to explain what girl each stat is associated with. In fact, it's probably better if we just got a character portrait instead of those icons
- Some dialogue choices add stats and subtract stats, but there are sections where you can't see the stat changes until after many choices. This incentives saving and replaying those sections many times over just for the sake of keeping stats relatively even
- Sometimes when you click the left side of the screen ,the game rolls back progress. This was annoying while trying to explore the room. Edit: This was caused by Rollback Slide: Left. Disabling it continues to allow rollback via mouse wheel, but gets rid of this issue
- No gallery yet. Looks like the game will eventually get one
- Only 1 H-scene with penetration so far

Conclusion
This game's art style, animations, and UI are quite good. It's probably going to be a simple short story without much exploration outside of the house your trapped in. It wasn't the stealth, prison break type of game, with very dominating women that I was expecting, but it's not bad

Big fan of the pre sequal got me very excited to play this . Can't wait to see how it ends.

Cons:
Free roaming in bedroom feels awful it's not fuild.
Some animations don't quite pay off I would rather more lines of dialoge and renders. Ect Ivry dress fall
No puzzle mini game.

sidenote:
Morning,Day(afternoon),Evening,andNight is cofusing. it would be simpiler by changing Day to afternoon.

I mean I don't want to argue about the quality of the Dev and the game. First just play the first game (Strip&Play wiht Val) to assess the level of quality the Dev is able to provide and then enjoy the first release of EFIP cause there is no way a porn game lover cannot enjoy these beautifully and original rendered model ! Great first release, keep going !
I usually never give 5 star for a first release but this game needs to be at the top so i'm helping ^^

Hard to believe, but the animation and render quality has gotten even better compared to the previous game. Ace is one of the best when it comes to this (thanks to all who supported his Kickstarter project to make this possible). The 3 main girls are insanely hot and I can't wait to see what we can do with them in the future. The beginning of the game is promising, the dialogues are well written and the story keeps you hooked. Overall 6/5. Support this great developer if you can.

Story: 4/5
It's a very directly sexual adventure game. Succubi have captured you and you have 30 days to escape. For now only a few days are enabled.

Animations: 6/5
The best animations, bar none! Seriously, no other visual novel really comes close.

Very sexy characters, and I know Ace has a whole stable full of succubi ready to be introduced.

Dis gon be gud.

Like his last game this game is very high quality. The dialogue and animations and storyline are very well developed. I'm definitely looking forward to more future updates. There's new stats involved that are affected with each dialogue decision.

Very hot designs, beautiful renders and great cumshots. AceX does great work and you can tell they put a lot of effort into the games they make. Output may be slow sometimes, but I find it's always worth the wait.

Do yourself a favour and check out AceX's games. They are usually tiny but goddamn are they hot. You can kind of fudge your way through Strip and Play but holy smokes check out lana & the milking table too.


AceX, keep up the amazing hard work. This stuff bloody rules.
