VN - RPGM - Completed - Tyrant Quest [Final] [Redikal]

It's a decent game where you play as an evil overlord set on conquering the world so by the premise alone you know the game has a darker setting and rape content. The scenes themselves are simple and short, but I love oo_sebastian_oo's art.

The love interests are varied, from the pure elf you corrupt to an airheaded succubus and an animalistic dragon and the main character is actually interesting, if a bit too overpowered.

Now the game's biggest flaw is that it's a full visual novel with no actual gameplay and 7 different story routes that was made with RPGM. And while you can skip dialogue, unlike with games made with Renpy, the game skips all dialogue, including the one you haven't seen so this makes going through all the paths a slog.

TLDR: Overall a pretty good VN. Not perfect by any means, but if you're interested, give it a shot with the walkthrough open to follow. Just wish there was another chapter or two to flesh the game out since the last part feels, in a way, rushed.

The meh: Game felt after playing it through most of the routes (I'm missing like 2) like it wasn't complete and was finished so the devs could focus on their other project, (as seen by the dwarven girl being a non factor in the game, lacking a route or even a one off sex scene, even though it felt like she should have had at least some more involvement than just a few scenes as a background character effectively.)

The good: For the 12ish bucks the devs were pricing it at, it is worth the money one would perhaps spend for it. The sex scenes when they show up are decent enough, and the dialogue generally is fine, though nothing groundbreaking.

I enjoyed it a lot, if it had proper animations done, it would have been a solid 5 star, but as it is, is more like a 4,2.

Story is great, RPG style fantasy world with a story that makes sense.
All the girls are great and distinct from one another.
The H-scenes are great, i would have loved to have more, but since they are tied to the story it's understandable there's not a lot (there are like 30 or so, which is good, but feel scarce at times)
It has great build up and nice music / sound effects.

One thing I can complain about (basically the only thing I kinda disliked, but not really) is that when triying to get an ending you may have to play through choices that will not give you a sex scene or you may screw that specific ending you were going for.

As I said, not the end of the world, and it makes sense, but is the only thing i could ever complain, the rest of the game is gold.

start is probably 4 stars and quite promising, but i don't like how the harem route has so little content. furthermore the ending felt really rushed. the whole MC coming back as a dark lord doesn't feel that compelling considering how you don't even go to different cities and countries to gather troops, you only go to a few villages or so to do some errands, not exactly what I had in mind for a dark lord. i think chapter 8 should have not even been at the halfway point in the game, but it is almost the end.

Good world building, good sex scenes, played the succubus route and the harem route, after that unlocked gallery and saw all the scenes, I mean this game at least tries to write a story even if it has porn logic when it comes to rape, hot porn scenes and a decent story is all I need.

As a few others have said this one starts good, or at least decent, and then the final chapter just falls very, very flat. Not at all what I'd think most people looking into a game like this would enjoy, a rushed ending with a ton of unavoidable femdom is bad enough for me to rate this one star. Don't play it, this apple's rotten.

This game had potential and was decent enough in early chapters. Despite the renders the premise was interesting as we have Dark Lord who failed and now has to restart standard enough to keep attention. Unfortunately there are way too many "sins" for this game. For one the Dark Lord is not really one he doesn't do Dark Lord stuff all that much there is not enough raping, too much mercy, & too much simping for the girls. Another thing is that after winning for so long we get one of the laziest plot devices to counter this Dark Lord by way of a form of mind control. This of course despite the lack of tag devolves into FemDom because now the Dark Lord is under complete control. However, the biggest sin is the lack of sex scenes in the Harem route because you actually miss sex scenes in the Harem route. They don't get replaced with better or alternative ones you just miss them and have to play another route to get them. Ultimately I found myself not only disappointed but also bored too much because as if it wasn't bad enough this VN is also an exposition with scores of text and little action.

A great story about a Dark lord who was sealed but managed to free himself and then went on to gather back his lost power in order to dominate women and nations while facing some hurdles.... Or that was what I expected from this VNwhen I read the name "Tyrant Quest" and read the description.

maybe that was somewhat true at the start, The Dark Lord rapes and dominates women who catches his fancy, the main females included. he seemed to have his wits about him and everything.
But as the story progresses further and further the seemingly intelligent, ruthless and confident Dark Lord, turned into a lovestruck and sentimental fool for the women he had conquered, which wasn't what I was expecting from a Dark lord at all.

He started becoming shrouded with doubt and insecurity about his quest for conquest, he began questioning his morality.
Needless to say, I became increasingly disappointed with this VN the further I played.

I only played through the harem ending though I don't know if its different in the other paths.

The good parts about this VN though is the art, it's very well done and the spelling, grammar etc. was near perfect.

This is a 5/5, but a somewhat confused one. This is a good game, and it has plenty of good things in it, but didn't have as fun as I hoped I would have in it I guess when I look back on it overall.
I played all the individual routes and then did the harem route. All the characters are nice and mostly developped. I liked that each route had very distinct epilogue and that we could see how choosing a different person would lead to a different future for the empire.
Now, I said "mostly developped", because...Well. Some characters I never totally understood. For example, I found Seren and Eleanor both way too loyal and easily corrupted as a general rule. Like, in some of the route, I would have fully expected one of them to rebel but nope, never anything.
Speaking of the routes...This is a RPGM visual novel. I'm sure everyone can see the issue. RPGM is not made for visual novels. Properly enjoying different routes here is quite a challenge since there is no "skip read text only" button. So you skip...and hope you don't miss too much of the changed dialogue...
The harem route itself seems kinda to assume you have read the individual routes first. And overall this route seems to be fan service somehow.
The choices are...not satisfying. Kinda hard to explain without giving examples, but basically the choices is a means to the end of interacting with the affection system, but they don't aim to give you actual choices to influence the story.
The affection system is interesting, but needlessly vague especially in the harem route, and probably more complicated for the dev than it should have been.
The overall plot feels like a bit of a waste. Basically, chapter 3-7 kinda "does not matter". Because Chapter 8-10 is almost a different one altogether, like a shortcut to reach the ending. Ultimately, I felt like the plot is an excuse to have you interact with the characters, instead of a plot for the sake of making a story.
Well, maybe I'm being too harsh on it since I had very high expectations for it when it was in early development. This is still near top tier by f95zone standard.

A fun, sexy experience. Feels good to be evil in a fun way rather than monstrous. Got a few good chuckles out of me, good humor, adventure, and a great harem ending. I'll be playing it again sometime, and try to support the dev's future endeavors.

So I've been playing this game for a while and following it's development for the past year. I got great impressions with it and loved all of the early scenes. Then, for whatever reason, a few of the angles of the scenes got more and more "soft core." But I digress. Like with all of my reviews, let's get on with the pro's and con's.

To this game's and Redikal's credit, this game has excellent writing. Also, the artwork is high quality through out the game. There is no shift in art style. I did enjoy the story and choices. Corrupting Elanor was great and her story was compelling. The interactions are fun but still manage to carry weight.

And yet, a lot of the scenes disappoint me. I get that every game isn't going to appeal to everyone, but I felt like this game was right up my alley and then the angle of the scenes kind of let me down. I'm a visual guy, so that stuff matters to me. One of the scenes that I was most disappointed by was Elanor's Anal scene. You can't even really see the penetration. I have the same gripe about Anelia's Anal scene and Rin's anal scene which are from the same angle in addition to a few other scenes (like the one with the priestess). Oh well...

Hell, I might even be willing to pay a bit to commission a scene or two, but I feel like that might be too expensive. I also have no delusions that it would just be artwork and wouldn't end up in the game as the game is so far towards the end of it's development right now.

Redikal, if you happen to read this, this is no attack against you or your work. This is probably a rating that I feel the most conflicted giving, as I have to acknowledge the overall high quality, but a few of the scenes that I was looking forward to really did let me down.

I just finished playing the last chapter and i felt i had to rate and actually write something for this special case.

Tyrant Quest is one of my favourites adult fantasy games/VN. The scenes are top quality both the drawing quality and sound quality which brings these scenes to life. The characters are all very likeable, some even lovable (of course it depends from person to person. in my case i loved Elanor the most of all the characters). The storytelling was uniquely enjoyable, I've been following the story with each update since chapter 5 and I've a wild ride to see it to the end. Big fan and am probably going to be on the lookout for future Redikal projects.

P.S.: Just my opinion but i would love collection figures made out of the main female characters or even the mc xD

This is a good adult VN in a fantasy setting. The character designs are a bit generic, but it's nice to see hand drawn art. Scenes mostly rely on text and a single image with edits, and some are pretty hot.

The affection system for solo love interests is straightforward but weird for the harem route. It requires players to miss some sex scenes and not gain too much affection with any of the women. It's common to reach the end of a chapter, note how points were assigned, then replay again just to balance out the points. So the actual character of the Dark Lord on the harem route is a guy who randomly is nice or dismissive to women and isn't that interested in sex, which convinces women to join his harem. Odd.

The game has an overall plot that didn't go where I expected. The Dark Lord has a dark past, but he's not really that evil or threatening in the present. He doesn't even really do that much to corrupt the women around him. Really I wasn't looking to be super evil, but I felt a disconnect between the premise and how the character actually behaved.

Still, it's good. Has developed side characters, choices and character development, good writing, and world building.

Very enjoyable read - must play if you are into dark fantasy.
Art is very well made and there is much detail put into audio. Game just looks very polished - in quality it's leaugues above most vn's here.

It´s a really nice game.

Pros:

The characters are lovely and well drawn.
The game has multible endings.
The choices in the game have a big effect on the sex scenes.
The Story is nice.
The scenes are hot.

Cons:

A bit too much text to read in my opinion.
Sadly it´s not voiced and uses only a few sex sounds.

This game isn't very good, in a game where you play as a corrupting "bad guy" who marvels in his own evil you don't do anything to fit that description.

There are two major upsides the art and grammar (not the writing though it's one of the biggest Tolkien ripoffs I've ever had to read). This game is the epitome of vanilla BS masquerading as a corruption game.

Let's get down to "gameplay" in a vn (or a decent one at least) you expect your choices to matter, not so in this game all the "choices" let you do is skip sex scenes or try to level up your relationships with these boring cut out girls whose archetypes you can find in any other fantasy VN.

This is a really great game. Good art, interesting characters, good writing. No real problems with any of that.

The reason I give this 4/5 is that the affection system is very annoying. Some scenes can only be seen if you follow a very specific choice path and other scenes are missed entirely. You have to play through the game multiple times to unlock all the scenes, which means you have to hold shift to skip through the game you already played to choose slightly different dialogue. And the affection system is set up in a way that you can't max out all the girls so you have to go back to see what you missed.

I'm not a huge fan of missable porn in a porn game. The players end up wasting time to go back and the creators waste time making scenes that some players will miss. But I can see the appeal of a choice-based game that affects the story. The issue with this game is that most of the choices are inconsequential, and just praising one girl or another to gain affection with one of them. There are different endings but for the most part, the main storyline will be the same and the ending just depends on which girl likes you the most. And for some reason, the harem ending is if no girl likes you.

Rant over, ignoring my criticism of the affection system, this really is a great game and I would recommend it. But just be prepared to save scum or follow a walkthrough precisely if you want to see all the scenes.

This is a VERY underrated game. Although I typically don't like RPGM, this VN is excellent, and I consider it the RPGM gold standard.

If you like the idea of playing the perceived "bad guy", and enjoy fantasy settings, I suggest giving this game a try. The artwork is excellent, the choices matter, and the story is unique and interesting.

This is a good VN. This is through the latest update.
Story has a good plot, and it's smooth.
Writing is good. I didn't notice any spelling or grammar mistakes

Overall this is a good work of art. Although, I don't know if I was doing something wrong or not, but I didn't get any harem points and couldn't save progress. This is why I had to stick to the 4 star rating. There is a lot of reading, and few lewd scenes. I do however recommend this because of the story, renders and the sexy ladies. Keep up the good work
