This is a game with quite a few positives. It has well drawn 2D art, something refreshing in a sea of DAZ and Honesy Select clones. It has a well made fantasy world. It also has an ensemble cast of well-written (and well-drawn) characters to go alongside an interesting revenge plot. Playing the DarkLord MC is fun, as the writer has been careful to still have high stakes despite his apparent "OPness".
After written about the pros one could ask (rightly so) why I'm rating this as (painfully) average. And the reason is simple. 8 chapters in and its gameplay is still a mechanical clusterfuck. This is a VN where your choices open different paths and reward you with character points towards your companions depending on what you pick. You can pick to always favor a certain character with your choices and follow their "route" this way, or try to rebuild the Dark Lord's harem as the conquest resumes. I'd wager most players would favor the harem route considering the type of MC we are playing. Thing with this mechanic though is that while this game has many choices for the player, if you decide to pick depending on situation without a guide, you end up missing most of the h-scenes. And that's a huge obstacle to roleplay as one would expect in a fantasy world like this. One would expect that in order to build a harem you need to ensure you build up loyalty (via points) with as many girls as you can. The way this works though you have to go out of your way and ignore choices that would favor individual girls, missing the chance for loyalty points (and h-scenes). This doesn't make much sense to me, I guess they all suddenly come to feel loyal to MC without him doing jack shit about it. To make matters worse the provided walk through is often out of date, making this a time consuming process of trial and error that's frustrating. And when I say frustrating, I really mean it as this VN is being made in the worst possible engine for a VN, the infamous rpgmaker. This ensures you won't be able to skip at the speed of an engine like renpy and you have to slog through the same scenes again and again.
To conclude this VN gets some things right and some things wrong. The things that gets wrong though are so wrong that they really hurt the overall experience. After all is said and done, if a player can't get the majority of h-scenes through organic play and has to rigidly follow a wt (that rarely works) instead, this can't make for an actually good game.
