Forgive me if this has been asked and answered already, but is there a way to receive an alert when a game is updated with a new version?

Not currently.

You can watch a thread and get a notification every time someone posts in the thread.
You can bookmark the first post of each game and click through your bookmarks to see if there is any change in the Release Date.
You can search the Latest Update page by title to see if anything is recently updated.

I think that's it as of right now. When the new site design is implemented soon(tm)... maybe it will have that feature. Maybe not.
