VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Vinland [v0.1.8a Public] [HuitiemeGame]

Vikings done right. Great Renders great dialog great... great everything. Really can't wait for more updates.. The stylized speech(writing) Hell even the font puts you right where you want to be in this.

Great surprise! It's one of those few rare gems with great design, great writing and all around a fun and interesting story. Plus, Viking waifus. I approve. It is, however, only starting, so this might be me just jumping the gun here, but I am genuinely excited for this game like very few others made me. Everyone has solid personalities and characteristics that make them unique, from their designs to speech to way of dealing with the protagonist, and reacting based on your choices. Sign me up for more.

Looks like a well put-together game with no real faults so far. This game has pretty much unlimited potential due to the setting, large amount of characters, and a cool MC.

There are at least 2 branches in the story, one focused on combat, and one on knowledge. It seems this will affect how the story goes significantly at least while you are on the voyage due to you being tossed on another boat.

Like I stated, the MC seems pretty cool and some of the potential LI's look like they could have good chemistry with the MC. I enjoyed what little there is to this game and definitely look forward to seeing this one in the future.

Let's get one thing straight out of the gate, this is the funniest avn I've played, Huitième talent shines in writing dialogues.
The renders are great (characters and scenery) and so is the soundtrack (one of the only games I didn't mute ).
The branching path are all interesting (so far I've settled with 8 saved paths at the end of the upadate but might need more).
For once I didn't go with a generic name (usually Max) but took some time thinking of names for warrior MC (Ragnar) and scholar Mc (Floki) and their swords Brandr for Ragnar (means sword in Icelandic) and Frodleikr for Floki (means knowedge).
I think it tells how immersed I was in the setting and didn't want to break the immersion

ok lets get the only negative thing away, dev is really slow i hope he put more time on it and make faster updates . ehhm fucking great vn from the plot to the music to the characters , your decisions matter in this game and take you to many different paths, the girl models are really hot , the protagonist is very interesting and hide some secrets he also have one of the best personalities i have ever seen. He look like a wanker yet he is very strong ,brave and funny . 5 stars for this amazing game hope he keep working on it till it get finished , a little faster..

That is what a VN game should be.
I will wait some releases before I enter into details, but there is little doubt that this game will be great overall.

The atmosphere is great.
The viking background is well built
The dialogues are interesting and fun.
The characters are charismatic.
The renders are very good (except when they blush, it's not very convincing).
The music is great.
The choices have a real impact on your story.

It is not often that I try to explore all paths, which is a good sign.
For now, the nudity/sex is absent, but that is also a good sign. When sex scenes are rushed early in the story, it is usually because there is no story.
Most of the best games in F95 have slow progression on sex.
That said, I think the dev should not last too long before throwing something on the matter, even a side scene that won't harm the story build up with the 2 main girls. That scene should serve mostly for reference/preview to reassure people that might think there are no animations because the dev can't do them...

At 0.1.3, the only wonder are the sex scenes and animations, but if they are decent enough, this game has everything to get into the masterpiece tier if it keeps the same consistency.
Another thing I'm a bit worried, is that the project is quite ambitious and I guess quite time consuming, I hope the Dev can keep up with the good work over time.
Amazing work anyway, deserves support.

Review v.0.1.3a:
This game really hits the sweet spot for me.
It has Freydis, who is one of the most memorable and lovable characters ever, to me at least.
It has a cool historical setting, and although it's not meant as a history lesson it is quite good. The dev was forced to use some unhistorical assets because that's what there was, but the overall picture is great.
Dialogue is very funny, while at the same time not being comedy. It's hard to explain, but I see it as a porn game version of Asterix.
Did I mention Freydis already? She's awesome.
The other female characters are great as well though, so if you have something about tall, strong readheads, don't let that hold you back.

Wow. What an opening. Original, true to theme, fun, teasing, great visuals and an actual story with multiple paths to explore. If you take any interest in the Viking era at all, this is a must play. I'm off now to the patreon site.

This game is off to a very good start, the writing is very fun, great characters, the setting and the visuals all together are really good and eye-pleasing, and the story has already a good variety of branches and dialogue choices to choose from and has an interesting plot. If the game will continue with this quality it may become one of the best games on this site and I wish the dev luck on the further development of the game.

Had a good preview of the game, viking era, the lines are funny, the 3d models are good looking.

It's always hard to judge a game in only 30 minutes, but i 'm waiting for the next update, because for the lil i played, it was worth the time!

Humor is the big sell on this one (along with a bad-ass redhead). I'll have to respectfully disagree with the reviewer who claimed that the modern language detracted from the immersion. It may for some, but not for me. (Same goes for the 1996 DiCaprio Romeo & Juliet - original text, modern setting.)

While it's still early days I think this is off to a good start, and likely to be a silly ride.

I'm interested to see where this goes. It's extremely short right now, so I'd advise waiting to play it until there's another few updates, however, the idea of it intrigued me. One thing that I really think needs to change is the dialogue. If the setting is historical rather than fantasy, then you can't (or rather shouldn't) have a character going around saying "'sup". Doing things like that harms the suspension of disbelief for me, especially since so far, there's no sexual content or anything, so I'm playing for the story at the moment. So, that's gotta be better.

I'll update my review for future updates.

for what is there (remember this is a preview which apperantly shouldent even be out already) its great, the dev is cool and has good community interactions and the game is great for what is there. good humour, good characters, good writing, good models.

This review is based on the prologue so it all may change.. and keep that inconsideration when deciding if you want to play this....
the story starts when a viking expedition decides to depart for a new land, with your brother as the last crew member... yup! not you the MC but your brother... or maybe not....
the text may seem hard to read but it's perfectly contributing to the norse themes...
the renders are gorgeous.... but not as much as Frejdys.... the story is full of quality humor, the mel brooks kind of humor..
the prologue introduces the base characters, accompaning the introduction with an apropriate theme song....
I love this!

Not a bad demo, but it was honestly disappointing.

PROS:

Its English is very good and thus makes story telling easier to follow
The character models are nice and aren't just copied-and-pasted from other games
It has a bit of humor in it which is uncommon for many games on this site and is a linear game (thus far)

CONS:

It was VERY short and had very little content
There were no sex scenes so I do not know how well or poorly animated the scenes would look
The story really didn't interest me (this may just be a personal preference) especially in version 0.1 so a sex scene or some would've been nice to keep my interest.
Only 1 choice actually seemed to have had an impact on the story (though I doubt very much of one)

Conclusion: I personally would give this game 3.5/5 if possible, but I rounded down due to the lack of any real sustenance or action involved thus far in version 0.1
