VN - Ren'Py - Waifu Academy [v0.12.5] [Irphaeus]

First the good.

The story idea is great and keeps you wanting to play even if only to see the ending, there are some very smooth animations and while the art is done using honey select it is the best quality honey select.

The characters outside of the MC are done very well with each having its own unique personality, on top of that the body types are again all unique with a little something for everyone.

Sadly that is where the good ends,

The MC is one of the big problems with this game, he has the attention span of a child in a toy store, nothing about the MC is consistent, smart to dumb, nice to asshole, tough to wimp, gut instincts that cant tell he's about to be tricked(again) to i can see it in your eyes your lying to me and all of totally at random depending on the scene, with his grandiose plan the MC needed to be much smarter than he is, he never questions anything and falls for every and i do mean every single trap even when there is a "choice" to avoid it MC still manages to fall for it, also i really hate how the MC hooks a girl and then basically ignores/blows her off at every opportunity which makes picking girls hard as obviously you don't want the girls you hate but then you don't want the MC to like the girls you do like as you know the MC is just going to be a dick to them later.

The other main problem is the stories setup, parts of the story don't match the players choices like the deal with Kayane in the park for example, if you reject her the game still plays as if you didn't which gets confusing as you don't know what deal they were on about when its brought up later, also the moral choices are awarded strangely, there is only full good or NTR there is no bad but i want them for myself so if you want to play for the good/bad choices give this one a pass, basic systems like the karma(a large part of the story) and access to the countryside are still not done.

It becomes clear quite quickly that there are no story choices in the game it is a kinetic novel not a VN and a little later than that it becomes painfully clear that there aren't even any choices of which girls to be with, MC will have sex with and befriend them regardless of what the player wants so all of the hundreds of "choices" that pop up are totally pointless beyond the rare should the MC have sex with a girl or have someone else doing it.

Given how long this game has been in production and how little the story actually progresses both the MC and you the player will die of old age long before you see any actual revenge(assuming you are allowed to get revenge at the end).

On top of all that there is a pause menu that makes saving and loading so very annoying and most of the game overs make no sense like the whole bear spray in the bathroom.

I remember playing this game a few years back when I started getting into adult games, and I decided to revisit it only to find out that there's barely any worthwhile progess that's been made by the dev, with that in mind I'll go over what I view as positives and negatives of the game:

Positives:
Models: The models of the girls used are honestly what keep whatever little interest I have in this game, they're nice to look at and varried in a way that allows you to tell each girl apart.
Dialouge: it's not anything amazing, but at least you can read it, and you can discern the personality of each girl even if said personalities are just tropes.

Negatives:
Karma system: The lack of updates to the game plays hand to hand with this, where it feels like the system exists but it rarely has any major impact. Also the game heavily favours the good route which makes me question why the dev added a bad route if they weren't going to put an equal amount of content for each route.
Choices: The games has choices but a majority of the time, you're gonna be railroaded alot which makes choices feel hollow, cause some of the reach the same outcome.
Story: The story in this game exists for the most part, I don't know the main gripe I have with this is that it ties back to the lack of updates, where it feels like the story isn't going anywhere at all. It also ties back to the karma system in this game where if you doing a bad karma route, the games makes it seem like you chose the good karma route cause the bad route barely has any impact on the story or the mc's personality.

Overall the game had potential but damn was it held back by the sheer lack of updates over the years, I could see this game going two ways where it gets fully abandoned (I doubt that'll will happen cause the dev still gets a moderate amount on patreon) or they actually start putting more effort into updating/improving the game which is also less likely to happen as well.

It is good game, with funny dialogue, good sound, sexy characters but its held back by the (low) ammount of content. If you want to enjoy incomplete experience with no ending or resolutions to the great story that runs in the background, go ahead; however it will make you feel wanting more thats not to come. In more than 6 years its still incomplete and seems it never will, and in my eyes it is ABANDONED just without the ABANDONED status to warn people about the fact. Great potential wasted.

Waifu Academy [v0.12.0]

Generic HS game, story is okay, there's 2d charcters, ~good HS models with 'meh' to 'eh' animations,

Story - 1.5/5. Eh, to some point I was engaged (like, first 20 minutes)
Choices - 1.5/5. Sometimes you can chose do or do not, this and that. And they're mostly shit.
Gameplay - VN with dregs of sandbox.
Characters - 1-3/5. Mostly one-dimensional. You won't care about them or hate them, even if this game presents itself as """revenge""" game, perpetrators won't face proper punishment. "Revenge" is toothless and pathetic here, can only rape. Wow, after all that you want to put your dick in 'that'? Ew.
MC - 1/5 Trash. Don't believe intro.
Models/animations - 2,2/5. It's HS. They're decent. I'm really surprised how okay they look (even that inked disgusting clown)
Grammar. Eh, whatever.

8/10 story
wont receive 10 because:

mc/player isn't given the choice to help shinji and otaku even on the good karma route, i understand that the idea its to make the school girls a harem but nothing inpeeds mc from help/educate them to get together with one girl that its outside school.

sex scenes started to become too frequent after a time, who would have tough that too much sex scenes on a hgame would be a bad thing? well it its i kinda ruins a little the story flow.

sometimes, even if is given the choice, mc takes too long to save a girl in trouble(didn't like one bit that mc let the neighbour kids and the molester gets touch with mc mom, if she is supposed to be his property acourding to the story why is he letting others getting touch friendly with her?)

that sheila show with otaku was fuck it up, serious do you have a netorare kink or what? considering i was on the good karma route that shouldn't have happened.

Story is odd but intriguing.
The characters have reasonably well fleshed out stories and personalities.
Animations are super.
The writing is a little iffy in spots. The humour is all over the place. You may want to google some of the stuff just to get the jokes.
I'm loving it and eager to see where this is going.

The plot holds a strong story, and the subject matter is rather... Crude.
Tho i'd say the game is downright fetishist porn, it does have some good jokes, decently written character backgrounds and a lot of content.

Storywise, i'd say its interesting, with some twists and some obvious outcomes it still holds a story worth exploring. I'd still not recommend it tho, as the story takes a back seat for cheap faps (At least a decent amount of options to walk away). Focus on the story more, and let the sexual content spring more naturally, and not as some kind of plot progression. (Though thank you for not forcing people to farm points with repeatable bs)

Gameplay is like a visual novel, it doesn't have a lot of choices that matter (Yet, far as i understand), but enough to let you get a mild sense of control.

Overall look is pretty okay, cliche ren'py things.
I've seen worse animations, using the same engine(s). So 7/10 on that.

Overall:
Play the game if you're bored, not a snowflake, have some humor and have your expectations in check.
I'd lend my voice to the project as a VA, if i were more into the whole... Graping people thing. But i am not. (Thank fuck for Filthy Frank, had i not grown up with that, i wouldn't be able to laugh at some of this)

Constructive:

Focus more on the story, and how the characters play a part in how it unfolds, as well as the consequences of it.
The characters aren't trauma-proof, dig into that aspect more, it'd add some much needed character development, story elements and a stronger sense of relatability to the game and characters.

The gameplay is lacking to put it mildly.
Throw some time into the side content, it'd bring out much more of a reaction from people, than the constant forced taking of damsels.

I can appreciate the mature subjects and content of the game, but have a little more tact about how it enters the story, and the intensity of it. Otherwise the whole ''Bang'' reaction i feel like the game is going for, vanishes. Don't desensitize the players by overdoing it, otherwise they get bored.

Looked good so i decided to give it a try, it sadly did not hold out well.
Action options are weird as hell, sandbox makes it a bit nonsensical.

You can either be a rapist or a walk over, nothing in between.
And then add in way too many tired tropes for this to even be entertaining.

Gameplay and Mechanics: The gameplay mechanics are user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy for both newcomers and veterans of the genre to dive in. The branching narrative paths provide a sense of agency and replayability, as players can explore different storylines and outcomes based on their choices. The interface is clean and well-organized, ensuring a smooth gaming experience.

So much potential, so little outcome. The story could have provided so much drama and sex. But instead, you are simply playing a young sex offender and criminal, trying to get revenge in the least clever and interesting way.

[Spoiler - although not so much] You drug out your step-sister to rape her, illegally recording the girls in their changing room to blackmail them later on. You physically assault another student out of the blue (even if he deserved it).

The best thing about such games is when you have the choice between different ways of dealing with a problem or winning the girls. Even if devs want to allow players to use the criminal way, I would like to have the option to use a better (yet longer or harder) way.

Maybe I will give it another try in the future because I really want to see how the whole scheme will blow apart and MC will be punished for his ways. Buuut I honestly doubt that the devs will to that.

Good game but nothing special it have a good story but its kinda boring the mc is good but he should have a better face at the begining of the game u will be curiosity about the story but after 2 hours it gets boring .

this game has very good humor with a interesting story. there are so many gril and scenes, but lack of the effectiv choices. the voices are fun and the grapic is good enough to enjoy the game. there are a few bugs.

VN with cute girls and good plot. Lots of content to go through.

Definitively worth giving it a chance.

Only criticism I can give is the visual change for Rikuna, we got introduced a quiet goth girl and now she looks like a rebel goth punk. Please don't change my waifus too much.

The game's using HS models, so it could never be perfect.
And on top of the creepy otaku side character, MC's devious 5D revenge plan walks on a tightrope between due payback, and rapey sadism.

That said, the game has really much to offer. Both in terms of length, and variety: you have the skimpy gyaru, the martial arts tomboy, the sleepy athlete, the hime-cut oriental beauty, the head-size-boobed oversea student, the bratty pest, the neko journalist, the wannabe idol, the slutty streamer, the mysterious nurse, the flirting neighbourhood, the hentai-cultured nerd and the MILF mom. It's almost scary just how smoothly you end up in their pants.

And no, MC's self-aware puns aren't that bad. They are fully in line with the cringe you'd would expect a pretentious teen to have.
Tho having each girl presented with her name and cup size is kinda rock bottom.

I did have a save file from 2021. I wish I would have just continued skipping this VN.
I made it to where you train on the video game and got bored with it.

MC is wishy-washy at best. Supposed to be on a revenge path, but gets bitch slapped by every girl he encounters. Which seems to just thrust multi paths of non sense.
1 of your goals is to get the mini cam back from the girls locker room. Why don't you just get it after everyone has left? Pointless droning around getting your ass beat by both male and female characters is hilarious.

This VN has been dragging around for at least 3 years that I'm aware of, and from the little I experienced of this VN, it's just trash. There is no NTR tag and there should be. Seeing how the super slut is blowing dudes, and Mrs. Anders is getting it on with the gym teacher.
Just put this VN out of it's misery already.

As many are saying, this game is now a lost cause. The dev has been exploiting its success of the beginning when it actually was a good game, but which is now an empty shell placeholder of a game with the sole reason of existence being to be able to milk the most money possible from the remaining community already engaged in it from the past. Absolutely no interesting content for the past 3 years. Leave the way, you'll be more than disappointed.

It is a game that features plenty of varied hot girls and sex scenes but thankfully more than just being a fuck fest it is actually laced with a story which has a strong emphasis on humour to add brevity to the revenge plot and MC's rather malicious at times personality. With this balance act in place you can actually go tag along for the plot just as much for the sex scenes.

I have no idea how and when the Karma system will come (if ever) but for the most part being an absolute bad guy chad who takes what he wants and doesn't hesitate on it rewards the content as far as i can tell. I like almost all the girls and some i hated at the start really grew on me (as they themselves grew in lust and confidence) though sadly some characters simply do not get to share the same limelight as others. A natural product of having a sizable cast and yes often choices will lead you to a good scene with one girl at the expense of another so some save scumming or back button mashing is often required to fully unlock the gallery.

Of course the dev is notorious for his updates being few and far between but all these years he has pretty much always been like this so i am not entirely sure why this is somehow a new development to so many players (newer ones perhaps?) but when they do come out i tend to find they are worth the wait unless of course your ideal girl is one of the many who will not be the focus of that particular update lol.

I think it's not at all outrageous to say that this game tests the patience of its fans. Started out fine in the earlier part of the game, and then after all these years, the updates are slow which is understandable in some cases, but there's very little content to show for it once it does have an update, and also barely any plot progression. I've given this game chances after chances, and well, I suppose I'm done expecting anything from this anymore.

I have to say that considering how long this game has been in development, it's pretty lackluster. The same boring generic music that seems to be used in all games using HS is there. The "sound" effects at least during the sex scenes are boring. Plus, the fact that at least half of the girls in the game, still don't have any type of sex scene. Not a BJ, HJ or anything. It seems like the dev just likes to blueball the player with very little sex. Sure, some of them LI's have a couple of sex scenes, but that's it. It's very disappointing that even after all these years of "development" you can't even have sex with the mom. Plus, there also seems to be certain tags that are missing. If there's going to be forced scenes of potential LI's getting abused in some way at least let the player disable them.

Maybe in another 10 years, considering how much time there is in between each "update", we might actually get to see another 1 or 2 LI's get more scenes and 1 or 2 sex scenes. Which will probably be extremely vanilla (think boring hand jobs and blowjobs). Maybe a foot job will be thrown in a place or two.

Some of the animations are ok, but nothing to be really impressed by. Most are the generic HS angles being used. Plus, the face the dialogue needs a complete overhaul with not only the spelling, but the grammar needs a lot of polishing.

If you've never played this game, keep in mind that some of the Npc's will make you feel pretty dumb or will make your skin crawl. Wait at least another 5 to 6 years to play it if it's still being made at that point.
