Want to great my first game - some thoughts

Hi,
i just want to share some thoughts and ask about a few things, maybe there are some people that can give me advise and share their thoughts.

I am working for a year at my mod in between and now i am thinking seriously about making a own game and release it on patreon some day.

I already did some first small stepps in learning renpy and a little bit phyton (only had html and minor php knowladge before). I am doing little steps but thats okay for now.

This game should be played like BigBrother or Man Of The House.

Topic:
Well, i have a very unique idea no one had before:
A young man is fucking MILFs and every other pussy he can get.

Story: I am still working on a plot, i have some ideas but they are not set in stone yet.
There are some people with their own backgroundstory, MC with his needs, a reason for nasty games. This all have fit together, but it needs to be simple and stupid. So i don't try to make a complicated story, just a simple but entertaining plot playing in the present without weird stuff like magic and mindcontrol.
There should be a challenge of course, because this game will not be a porn-slideshow.
The backgroundstory of the other actors might play a role in the whole game, so some quests can be created.
I know, i said nothing yet about the story. There is a lot of brainstorming needed untill it's done.


Gameplay:
I created a screen with buttons for rooms and a display for time, day and money, a sitemap and a little screen for the various actors where the stats can be seen. I also made some variables patchable, so the content can be spiced up.
This stuff is working so far.

I try to keep it simple and stupid. There will be some bigger scenes in visual novel style and after those scenes you will be able to play free, visit the different actors for repeatable scenes, earn money and have some fun, until the next visual novel scenes are triggered.

A Question about Creating Arts using DAZ:
I am using DAZ and some *free* downloaded assets, but when i start working for money, i will pay for those assets, because work has to be honoured. I think my first chapter will cost about $500. But i am fine with it. Using Platinum club will make it cheaper and i also know rederosity and renderotica
I am still looking for assets and will have to mix them for own environments/rooms.
New assets for updates will be bought if enough patreons are found.

So my first idea was to install DAZ a second time in an own folder to have a clean DAZ-Installation for all purchased stuff, and a *dirty* Daz-Installation for all *free downloaded* stuff to do minor updates for my mod and just to try out *free downloaded* Assets before i buy them.
WILL THIS WORK? Is it possible do have 2 separate DAZ-Studio without interefering each other? I also thought about to rename the folders for keeping paths valid when the DUFs are loaded ....
I guess i am not the first one who startet with *free downloaded* stuff and continued with payed assets.

And does it make sence to have DAZ installed on a SSD Drive or does this play no role? I am not sure about this, but i don't think it makes a difference

Ideas about promoting the game + updates
Well, of course at f95 and all the other sites that are offering porn games, i know a lot of them and maybe i will create story-comic with screens for the game in y3df-style to get more audience.

Living in EU
Being self-employed for 12 year now i know enough about running a business, so there will not much new stuff for me, and i have a tax advisor

Working part time since a year i have room for creating a game and i don't mind let my computer do batch-renders when i am not at home or sleeping. My PC was running almost 24/7 the last year so the electricity bill can't raise seriously anymore :(

I will not hire others, i will it do all alone (too many cooks spoil the broth)
Maybe i will look fore someone re-reading the texts, but thats all.

My machine: i7-7700 | 16gb | gtx1070
far from being professional equipped, but it is as it is. There is not much money for a new machine

prefered rendersettings: Full-HD, 5000-7000 samples, quality 1.5 converged ratio 98%


That's all for now. I hope i am not to much blue-eyed. I am looking forward to some common suggestions about game development and advises.

You dont really need two daz installations (which could theoretically work or not, depending on how daz is coded)
What you can do is manually install your daz items into one folder and your purchased items you can automatically install so that they appear on the “Smart Content” or whatever tab, if they are from daz3d.com, and for other websites, manually install them on another folder. That way, you’ll always know whats clean and whats not. Hope that helps!

No, this won't really work. Even if you had two copies of Daz Studio on your system, DS stores the locations of content in the registry, and both copies would be using the same settings.

What you can do, however, is to have multiple places that content is installed, all of which DS knows about. In "Edit > Preferences", in the "Content" tab, there is a "Content Directory Manager" button at the bottom. You can expand the tree and add new directories.
  • CMS Cluster Directory - this is where DS keeps the database for Smart Content
  • Daz Connect Data - this is where DS will put content that you download from the Daz Store from inside Daz Studio
  • DAZ Studio Formats - this is where you probably want to add content directories
  • Poser Formats - directories for older Poser content
The DAZ Install Manager (DIM) can (and should) be configured to install to one of the DAZ Studio Formats directories.

As @thengineer indicated, you can use DIM to download and install purchased content in one area, and then manually install non-purchased content into a separate directory tree, but still have Studio see both by having both directories in the Content Manager. One minor thing - DS can get slightly bent out of shape if you have a single piece of content installed twice. Thus, if you put something in your "non-purchased" area and then later purchase it, you're best to go in and remove all the files from the non-purchased directory. A nuisance, but you can do it.

In my own setup, I have separate directories for non-Daz sites as well. Since those have to be installed manually, that way I'm not mixing manually and automatically installed content.

Also, Daz Connect has some issues. I would recommend NOT using it - install all your purchased content with the Install Manager, not from within Studio.

This will make a minor difference in how fast a scene loads up within Studio, but won't make any significant difference in the amount of time it takes to do a render, since by the time you start a render, all the assets are in memory anyway.

This isn't a bad machine. You'll almost certainly find that you will want to use Scene Optimizer to reduce the GPU memory size of scenes you set up so that they'll fit inside your 1070.

A pretty common technique. Get some use out of that machine while you're not otherwise using it. You will find that rendering does take more power than having your computer sit idle, and will heat up the room a bit more, but probably not enough to be an issue.

I think that games like “just having sex with bunch of milfs” are so many that it may not interest a big amount of players. I think game should contain some unique content to get people interested, like outstanding renders or new story. I’d try to come up with some of your fantasies that will make your game special, or work on characters to make them unique, or make some new system of work/mini games that’s never existed before. Too many games with just fucking girls with nothing behind it.

I think game should contain some unique content to get people interested, like outstanding renders or new story. I’d try to come up with some of your fantasies that will make your game special, or work on characters to make them unique, or make some new system of work/mini games that’s never existed before. Too many games with just fucking girls with nothing behind it.

You are right! Well, that MILF stuff is of course only the sex-content. I am working on a crime story about revenge and gang wars.
only saying "Hello" + "Lets fuck" is not my idea for a game

Understood) Gang wars and revenge sounds interesting)

P.s. I just got an idea to add to your game scene of seducing mom of your main character's worst enemy from another gang :D And then tell him "I fucked your mom"

Well buying assets is addictive. I guess, i did spend more than 500$ by now, and i am still not done. 300 more and i should have all i need for the first release. Just waiting for the next sales ....

The games is working so far and the most locations are done.
By now there are
- maps
- a time-system
- statistic-screens for the actors of the game (need to be extended)
- a mobile-phone system
and some scenes of course.

Looking at the work of others helps a lot to learn how it's done :)

A lot of images are done as 300seconds preview and it's nice to see a progress in the game.

I am still thinking about an inventory system and looking for some free sounds.

And the story of course ... maybe i should watch some crime and gangster movies to get some ideas for details :)

For the last I may recommend you Breaking Bad and The Departed (2006). They have good plot twists, maybe you can use some) Maybe American History X for the skinhead gang and it's characters. GTA San Andreas would do too :)
