This game is a conundrum to review. Honestly, don't be fooled by glowing reviews and dont take the worst reviews to heart either. This game is fundamentally flawed in a fairly major way, which knocks it down to average, whereas it has shining moments which push it back up again, so I believe a 3 star rating is the most fair and truthful analysis. Now, I am reviewing it on the "sandbox" setting (actually i believe the game calls it the "free roam" instead but whatever, so perhaps someone who has played it on the VN style would give it a better rating.
The issue with the game is that it has no chronological continuity, neither in solo nor as a whole. It is based on the assumption that you click on the spots where you know the girls will be, hoping to further plot with each of them. Now, when you DO manage to click something right, each individual LI plot is different and very well thought out. That's the plus. The UI is a mess, there is little to no interaction between the girls themselves, only between the MC and each one individually. Which brings me to the MC.
While the girls have a fairly interesting plotline, the MC is... well... nothing special. The game tries to give you a feeling of control by offering you tiny moral choices that are supposed to reflect your personality, but the actual personality displayed by the MC is bipolar, and switches between knight in shining armor and borderline rapey asshole, regardless of choices.
Plotlines can be triggered before you do what you are "supposed" to do with a given girl, resulting in dialogues basically telling you that you suck at gaming.. no i am not kidding. I mean it doesnt say that directly to your face but it does say that you should have done "that" and "that" in your room first..
Anyway, with a super UI overhaul, (or free roam elimination altogther), and some writing style changes, this game is definitely potentially a 5*.
Have a great day.
