I've played Holiday for Four and have enjoyed it so far. I went back and tried to play Three Panels but I am not a fan of kinetic novels.

The Three Panels was my first attempt and my programming skills then were non existent. I'm improving now thanks to Chat GP. In between working on 'The Selkie' and the still to be released 'A Trip Up North' I plan to refresh 'The Three Panels' with improved art, paths and choices. It won't be this year, too busy, but it will come.

It's something that needlessly irks me, the metamorphosis of words. A cuckold, the original meaning was simply someone who has been cheated on. Another word that gets under my skin is 'lewd' which means: to act in an offensive manner (sexual). It doesn't mean erotic, sexy or any of those other misuses its put to. Having said that, a good friend who is far more literate than I pointed out to me that if my argument had any grounds we would still be saying "prithee this and prithee thou" so I really shouldn't let it irritate me.

Haven't got to playing TACOS precisely because of the ambiguous feedback, but every time you or somebody else describes it with some detail, I'm inching closer.

Just based on what you have said, in the entirety of this post, also Ratadan's feedback to that, and my own gameplay, I would encourage you to have a go at TACOS, when the mood strikes.
It can easily be played more along the lines of Stag/Vixen kind of gameplay, with no humiliation or overt cuckoldry. In fact any cuckolding is by its nature, by choice, given the situation, as in mostly mild voyeur tendencies. (you can avoid this too, at any time)
There are many swinging and sharing scenes available, and I never once was made to feel cuckolded (even though I am fairly sensitive to that whole thing) MC is confident at all times, and not a dumb bystander. There are plenty of holes for him to enjoy as well, lol.
There are choices whuch can lead to cheating and mild NTR, but they are easily avoided, and as Ratadan said, the dev will eventually bring you back to a choice that steers you away from this, if you onnly take it then. Each season seems to wrap back to a kind of reset in the relationship, though if you have made major character choices, they will stick (major cheating/not, major cucking/not etc)
She is not the only one given the opportunity to be a cheater, you can be just as guilty of that as her, and the punishments will be there.
Choices abound, and its easy to stay on a track you choose.
The first season sees FMC go into the slut territory as MC actually wanted her to, (she was an innocent) and it gets pretty "raunchy" while she learns her limits, but then it gets reined back a bit and becomes more controlled. Which is where the ambiguous statements about the game came from, I feel. Once it settles, your choices drive the boat. Pick your battles wisely, and it will be fine. Just remember that it is a temptation oriented game, along with her corruption, you too can become corrupted.

yeah those kind of story beats seem more written for sado-fetishists than anything else.

I tried to make them swinging stories rather than leaning toward open marriage. I wanted the couple, as a couple, to enjoy the adventure. The pair enjoying each other's pleasure as much as their own.

That's what a majority of the games I like go for, yours included. I wonder how it would feel to play a game where the couple is just as attuned, but the drive for sharing isn't just pleasure, but something "kinkier". Political advantage? Business opportunity?

I'd like to see a game tackle this without cuckold elements - that is, where the other guys that the wife fucks aren't wielding their own money or positions of power to wrestle her "services" from the husband. Again, Deliverance has a bit of this, which is why it's so devious: Kat and Wayne can literally play with her whoring herself to a business partner to extract information, even tough they don't need to, just for kicks. No cuckoldry, obviously.

I venture that a wife could even be more independent than Kat, definitely taking action without first consulting her husband if the situation called for it, but playing so that he'd be sure to "catch" them, immediately understand the play and enjoy the show. Or simply telling him about it, Exciting Games style. Her call, but the motive being always an advantage that she and the husband already agreed they should get whenever possible. Probably they're high stakes players in politics or business. Or a PI agency. Or running organized crime, students in college learning the fastest way to climb the social ladder, whatever... Would love to play something like that, bringing the dreaded "oh, no, she fucked without asking for permission" trope to its full glory, but firmly in the sharing zone via the couple's unspoken understanding. Obviously the MMC's reactions have to be classy. If there are any such games out there, do tell.

Has anyone played Midlife Crisis? Has the swinging tag (as well as netorare) and it's abandoned, I was wondering if what there is, is worth playing with a swinging/sharing playthrough in mind. I checked the "courteous" mod as well, and it signals that there's a "wife hate" route that it tries to take some of the bite off, which confused me. I'd assume the hate route would be what the author calls the dark story, but probably not. I would want to go for a kinky playthrough, but don't enjoy dealing with hateful wives

Have played it. It was fun as a power play harem game. Definitely recommend the courteous mod, makes it a much more palatable experience. Otherwise she can be really difficult, as opposed to actually wanting it all to happen, and being excited by it.
I wouldn't say it was a traditional "swinging" game though, more along the lines of sharing the female interests.

Hey, I played it and liked it, but wouldn't recommend it from a swinging/NTS standpoint. It is a harem game, the "hate" route is your wife and you about to divorce, having fights, and you seeking love elsewhere, basically fucking around with a group of 20 year old girls (your totally not-daughters and their group of friends). The non-hate route makes it so you are in a bad spot with your wife, so you start fooling around with said group of 20 year olds but this time you rebuild the relationship with your wife and also start to convince her of how hot it would be if she were to fuck around as well with those girls.

I don't remember any NTS scenes in the traditional sense, it is mostly how aware the girls are that you are fucking around, and in particular how agreeable your wife is to the whole thing. I don't know if on the hate route there is any NTR-ish scenes with her going with other dudes, as I played the agreeable route.

To me it is just another harem game with a slightly different flavor. I liked it and was quite sad to see it abandoned, but I would not put it on the NTS category.

No, you are right, it does. In fact, that is where the game was going, before it was so cruely abandoned. MC was in the middle of convincing her to become a full-on swinger. She had already been as a cuckquean, bordering on active particpant on occasion.

I've only read high praise about the game. Read a bit of the discussion around the "dark path" and it seems like the author lost themselves in there. From your feedback here and what I remember reading, feels like sharing or ntr might not have been on their initial plan, only harem with or without cheating, and a divorce. They dabbled a bit outside their comfort zone and got lost along the way They did mention both writers' block and the "dark story" having been a response to a supporter's suggestion. Guess it's an all too common story?

That game is the number 1 spot on my list of regretfully abandoned games (number 2 was Nothing is Forever). The renders were nothing really to write home about (though there was clear improvement along the way) but the thing that distinguished it among other games was Nefastus' unique writing style in both goofy and serious, sweet and dirty scenes. It was the game where I actually read all the dialogue.
He mentioned family issues several times and had a "habit" of saying he was gonna upload the new update right away, but then we would get nothing from him for like a month — no update, not a single word. Then he'd come back, mention those family issues or internet suddenly disappearing, apologize and promise to do better. And we hoped this time it would just be the same — his last message was that he was uploading the update. But, alas, he never came back. I can only hope that he's okay.
