Well, there are certainly a number of Western devs using software like Honey Select and Koikatu that do a good job and I enjoy. There even seems to be a strong group from Spanish and/or Porteguese speaking countries that have their own style that I really like. It doesn't all need to be Daz or Blender, and it feels like those are honestly harder to get right for a lot of people, or else you get the uncanny valley effect where they look too much like manequins, and thats speficially why I don't like some of the most highly recommended games in this particular genre. For "hand drawn", I tend to like ones that are computer aided in that respect, whatever the technical term is, like Summertime Saga or Sex Note. Games like that can be great. Others that look like someone's hand sketches scanned in, not so much.
