VN - Ren'Py - Westview Academy [S2 v0.7.0] [Tako Yuh]

Just meh is all I have to really say. Westview Academy jumps from scene to scene, doesn't seem to care about fleshing out any of the characters, cares more about weird humor and feels like everything is on fast forward.

No reason to care about anything in this really. It's also very annoying how it's set in a school but there are no teacher routes (yet atleast, but I am not sticking around to find out).

It's also very, VERY odd how we never see the MC's best friend's "wife" (which is also some of the weirdest shit I've seen, oh yeah he meets someone we never see the face of and then a week later marries her.)

Again, Meh. Usually I would put more effort and thought in to my reviews but like the developer's pacing and writing of this game, don't care to.

Westview Academy [End of Season 1 - v.0.6.4] - Minor Spoilers

So much style, but too little substance. This VN tries to appeal to you with a mash-up of genres, but it doesn't excel in either romance, comedy, or drama.

The best things that I can say about it are: some of the women are incredibly hot; the presentation is incredibly advanced at times; and it's clear that there is passion and effort put into the work. Those things and scenes with two girls, Alyssa and Paige, barely scrape together 3 stars.

Unfortunately, there are simply too many negatives to make this an enjoyable read. The pacing is up and down; the writing is frequently a waste of your time; and many scenes will have you questioning why they were even included. I lost count of how many times the MC ran into a girl, but rather than deepening their bond or revealing something new and interesting to the reader, the characters wasted time with quippy jokes. At other times, you're thrown into what feels like a high-stakes date with a girl seemingly randomly, and then the characters share an intimate experience without adequate build-up.

It's simply a confusing script. It feels like much of Season 1 was a proof of concept, so while I don't plan on reading Season 2, I do expect the story to follow certain plots more closely and more realistically.

I ended up choosing the sports route. What exactly is going on here? Why do we attend one of the better basketball schools, yet the team is full of garbage, no-name players? Why is the main character good or bad whenever it's convenient to the author? There are so many inconsistencies in the overall story. I can suspend my disbelief to a certain extent, but why should I care about the story when it hasn't been planned or written well? Again, I'll chalk it up to growing pains and hope that it gets better.

This is a very strange game to rate. The areas in which the game is doing good are exceptionally good and the areas in which the game is weak are extremely poor.. Let's start with strenghts:

• exceptional renders. The first episode had alright renders, but since then the dev had upskilled and the newer episodes look great
• routing. I like that you - as a player - are able to shape the MC and the storyline
• romance is shown really well and LIs are interesting
• music is okay
• MC is at least a bit interesting and isn't just a walking cock

Weaknesses

• cartoons-like humour
• storyline is dominated by the stupid scenes, which supposed to be funny, but are just taking away the reality factor
• empty locations, unrealistic side characters
• basketball games have much more potential, especially since the dev decided that the MC isn't just going to be a golden boy, who jumps 10 feet up

This isn't by any measure a bad game, but the gameplay is just too abstract to try relating to it, which spoils the joy of playing it

While I was expecting a college-age romp, I instead found something akin to one of the more popular titles but set on fast forward. Both the dialogue and the adult content are moving so fast that you’ll quickly find yourself lost and wondering, “Is there any reason to care about any of these characters?”


Clearly effort has been put into game, but despite that, it fails in the ways that matter, specifically the adult content and the story.


Conversation is incredibly robotic and doesn’t feel or sound like real people do. In one early scene, a girl is sitting outside the dorm room, sad. In about 60 seconds worth of reading, he’ll have both slept with her and been kicked out of her dorm room AND been introduced to yet another character, all of whom sound like the author. When I say fast forward, I’m not kidding. Things move at a freakishly fast pace but not in a good way since these are the opening moments. Rather than set the pace, the author is more like, “Screw the pace! I have so much to get through! Okay, meet girl, fuck girl, she kicks him out, meet other girl, take girl on date, meet two other girls, choose which girl path you want to be on, meet that girl’s three friends, meet your best friend again who has met two other girls, meet those girls…”


I went ahead and used a gallery unlock to see if there was anything worth slogging through this dialogue for, and came upon the other fatal flaw in this game: The adult content is just as rushed as the rest of the content. Talk, blow job, turn, cowgirl animation, doggystyle animation, “I’m cumming”, mess, end. There’s no dialogue and the scene is over in about 15 seconds. So the author has little interest in the adult scenes and little interest in the dialogue. What IS the point of this game then? Apart from length, I see no redeeming qualities. The story isn’t awful, but there’s no real hook to keep me interested. Just more of “And then I did this, and this, and this, and this, and talked to them, and then this, then this…”


There’s no mystery. Just really mundane slice of life very rarely interrupted by a few seconds of sex followed by what seems like a premature ejaculation. Anyway, can’t imagine why this has so many positive reviews. Maybe early versions showed promise? I don’t know, but I can’t really recommend this to anyone.

Very good game.

Characters in this game actually speak and act like human beings would act, which is a surprise in the most of AVNs. Very relatable and funny references and writing overall is good. Not to complicated, yet not just a simple "sex, now".

Models look very nice, lighting is on point, love the angles of the camera, and camera work in general. Game features many seemingly random animation, but I love them personally. They give life to the game and characters overall.

Game offers two major paths, whether you are into sports, particularly basketball or perhaps a musical career. Whichever you end up choosing you will not regret it.

I had fun with it, therefore I recommend it and cannot wait to see more. Overall 5 outta 5.

I am a huge fan of college games and dating sim games this is one of the best that i played there is not much complication in this game like having a crime genre or there would be an enemy that would make your life harder, its just wholesome slice of life romance, most of the main Li's in this game are not your "your hot lets fuck immediately" type of girls you hang out with them and each time you hang out you slowly fall in love with them as they slowly fall in love with you also, i also liked the girls so far i have different saves focusing on 3 main Li's paths Alyssa,Brooke and Leslie i love the mc interactions with them and i cant wait for the future updates to see how would the mc relationship progress with them

This has the makings of a top-tier game -- it features high production values and a compelling (if cliche) story. It is undeniably inspired by those other massively-popular, college-bro, multiple love interest titles and it doesn't measure up in overall quality, but there's not much wrong with this one -- if you don't mind a lot of familiar beats from other games.

Premise: Disgraced former high school basketball player MC arrives at university looking for a fresh start, but is pulled back into familiar problems.

The Good ()

• High production values -- the game just looks great
• Gorgeous, hyper-detailed models and renders
• A diversity of love interests with different personalities and body types
• You can pursue multiple love interests without obviously excluding the others (so far)
• Well-executed cinematography and visual storytelling
• Good animations
• Hours and hours of content
• The plot forces the MC to make a choice of basketball or music focus, which results in choice-specific storylines with different groups of LIs

The Not-So-Good ()

• The beginning starts a bit slow / takes a bit to buy into the narrative -- I almost bailed on the game before coming back and giving it a chance
• Your mileage may vary with the sidekick / roommate who gets a lot of screen time
• Some scenes jump around narratively -- you just had an important basketball game and then the story jumps to going on a random date
• Most the female characters are very quick to cozy up to the MC in a very accelerated way

Overall, a promising title with great content and beautiful character models. Can't go wrong.

I feel like this game is really underrated

I enjoyed playing this game firstly due to how humorous most dialogues are
Jayden, MCs best friend is extremely hilarious and he does weird stuff time to time that can make anyone laugh

Mc himself is funny as well, especially with some of his dialogues

All of the girls are unique in their own ways, and they look quite good as well

If you are looking for an avn that can make you laugh and comes with a good story, look no further than this one

Top-Class Game Design, Image Rendering and Animations. If quite impressive the interactions that are available and the large number of choices and paths that a player has.

With multiple "Career" Paths for the Protagonist with a difference experience for each Path you can see the fine Game Design and 100's perhaps 1,000's of Hours that have gone into the creation of this Visual Novel.

My complaints which I expressed to the Creator was being Scolded in-game by the MC Mother in a Cutscene about modifying my Own Save Game and that doing so made me a Coward as oppose to Someone that Wants to Play the Game The Way They Want to Play It.

Also the MC is TOO Tentative. Plenty of Times he should have just "Gone for It" but falls back talk talk talk Talk! (A Little Less Talk A Little more Action by MC)

Outside of those Complaint I look forward to Financially supporting this project after further conideration. 9/10

Good graphics and some attractive LIs, but the content is not appropriately spread between them. Some LIs already have 3 lewd scenes while others have none. The lewd scenes themselves are not even that satisfying. How does Alyssa's lewd scene have no dialogue at all??

Also the writing and story are very uninspired. I think the setting itself (a college slice-of-life type story) could be fine, but this just seems very directionless and not funny.

At the very least though the developer is active and consistent.

the overall lighting in the game feels excessively dark. The dimmed lights inside buildings and even the sunlight seem subdued, creating an atmosphere that strains the eyes and feels uncomfortable during extended play sessions.

It would be great if you could brighten the lighting slightly—both indoors and outdoors—to enhance visibility and make the experience more enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this! It has everything needed for a great story. It's funny and sometimes hilarious. The characters are genuine and original with their own personalities. The render quality and the writing are top notch. Hard not to fall in love with Alyssa. Keeps me wanting more. Good luck with this and other future projects.

i’ve been enjoying it so far. i’ve followed this since its initial release, and the developer has shown remarkable growth. i always believed the game had potential. while i feel that each update adds only a small amount of gameplay, every update feels entirely worth it. If this approach helps maintain or even improve the quality, i certainly don’t mind.

the renders are stunning and visually impressive. i particularly love the story, which doesn’t feel “forced.” Each LI has their own distinct personality and doesn’t overly try to grab the MC’s attention in an aggressive way or throwing themselves at the MC. some people might find the choice of a linear route rather dull, but i see it as a positive decision by the developer, especially in the midst of so many other Visual Novel where it’s too easy for the MC to form a harem or casually pursue multiple LIs.

additionally, the choice of background music is spot-on, and the side characters feel alive, not just there as filler, they feel genuinely dynamic and more than just “NPCs.”

i hope the developer continues to give their best with every update. this has undoubtedly become one of my favourite visual novels, and i might consider supporting the developer in the near future.

really enjoying it so far.... the soundtracks, the renders, the character models, writing, everything feels on point. honestly cant wait for the next update. keep up the good work. good luck with this. everyone including me wants more frequent updates but take as much time as you want to make sure the quality remains the priority

WOW! Just played this first time at version 0.6. The artwork is just so good and the music just elevates the scene to other level. Also really like the dialog and relationships with girls. Also like both main plot lines and feels like lot of great content coming up.

I played this game some time ago, I guess it was 0.3. It had potential at the time, the renders were good, the plot was missing a bit.
But as of now the game really stood up, the plot is linear without any incredible drama but it makes you bond with the characters, the music, or simply the way the story is. What I'm trying to say is the dev is really skilled also in the "writing", combined with his elite renders this put the game in the A tiers.

I like that you can't bang everyone, if you choose a girl then the others will be opt out. I hope the dev keep this up, there is a simple branching for every girl, but it is well made and not forced like some other games out there. Or the harem game where you can do a +- of the number of girls you want and they stay motionless on the background ( not literally but I hope you get what I mean)

I played this game a long time ago, when it was still in a very poorly worked version, in fact I think that in those times, there was also the “aquainted” game although I'm not sure, however, I liked it a lot as it has very good characters and a very good humorous vibe. Now that I play it, I love to see how the game is progressing along a romantic/humoristic branch.

This game has some strange vibe. It is a bit goofy, I guess... The atmosphere is pretty light. And all the girls are nice. By nice, I mean looks like that are all pretty decent people. Yes, some are more shy than the others, but that is it. No crazy bitches, no overbearing dramas. At least for now. I dig it a lot. Recommend from me.
