But the stains/ splash itself should be see through ?
Easiest way to do that is a matching texture map (like a splash) in the opacity channel of your piece of clothing, the texture map has to be the same size as your base/ diffuse map.
White parts of the map stay non transparent, shades of gray will become see through (the darker the more transparent).
