Ren'Py - What a Legend! [v0.7.05] [MagicNuts]

So, I've played What a Legend, and it is time for a review.

Honestly, this game is amazing. I like pretty much all parts of it. The story is that you play as a dude who basically wants to fuck every woman he meets. It turns out that it isn't that straight forward.

The various women he meets will all have their own personalities, their agendas, problems and so on. It is very refreshing for a H-game to not be a "2-clicks to a porn scene-game". IE, it actually takes some effort to get anywhere with these women.

What is probably one of real strengths of this game is how it manage to fuse a light atmosphere with serious problems and a great humor. This game is hilarious in many of the scenes and the way it is made.

Though, this game is not a quick fap game. If all you want is a quick scene without too much work in-between - then this game won't be for you.

Alright, so let me break it down for fast(er) reading:

The Good:

• Great CG. It was clearly made by a skilled artist
• The art of the game looks beautiful with great attention to detail.
• Good humor, this game is really funny at times.
• Somewhat Deep characters. At least as deep as you can expect them to be in an H-game.
• You must put in an effort to impress the women.
• It's hilarious to see the overconfident MC come up with ridiculous solutions.

The In-between:

• It can at times be a bit difficult where to look for the stuff you need - but mostly not.

The Bad:

• I'm not sure if I can think of anything bad. Only that the game hasn't been developed more. But that will come in time.

I´m absolutely amazed at the art, design, story and everything of this game! (BTW remember to support the creators of this game, they absolutely deserve it

Very Polished and love the artwork. A game that is actually a game, rather than just contantly reading and clicking to progress. Love the different looks for all the characters. Feels immersive. Cant wait for the next update!

This is the best lewd game I've ever played: the dialogue is funny, I like the characters for looks and for their dialogue, and the plots (both overarching and within each quest) are interesting. But the art, the art is amazing. Forget about lewd games, the art in this game is some of the best in ANY game I've ever played. Highly recommended.

This is the best game of any found on this board to date. The art is excellent,the humor is genuine, and the design is superior. Developers should look to this game as something to model their own projects after.

Very high quality game, well design, everything is very fluid be the story or the way you navigate in the game which make this game very immersive.

i love the tone, very light and humorous, the character have all well made personalities that is showed by the character design, their different expressions and the writing.

the game shows a lot of promises by showing a huge world with locations that we can't access yet, i can only hope that the dev keep working on it to discover what's they have to propose.

I have never seen such a game with so much potential. As it is right now, it has earned the highest praises I can possibly give. The art is amazing. very minimal bugs if I could even find any. gameplay is pretty good at the moment. I have no complaints. plot and writing is superb as well. I look forward to each new updated version.

This game even in its current state is nothing short of brilliant. Its hilarious. The characters are beautifully drawn and are likeable. each character makes you want to know and see more about them.
PS: the best part of this games are the guards. play more to understand what i am on about.

Great gameplay, good story (the characters names are a plus), the images are top quality, have some good animations.

Got involved from start to finish, now wanting to see more from those girls.

Awesome game, downloaded it today and just finished the content. Absolutely soaked it up in one session. The story is super original and the characters are interesting but the graphics are from another planet (always thought Treasure of Nadia is good, this is better). A little bit like games you see in advertisements except this one is real. I really hope this project gets all the attention it deserves and big kudos to the developers.

P. S. Maybe it's just my thing but I would love to have real moaning during the scenes, even when it is repeating itself like in other games

best art i ever seen, interesting history, excellent animations, no NTR and not grinding. The moment i saw this game i didn't believed the artwork could be so good, but trust me, when you play it you will see that the artwork is as good as it look. I really hope this game get as much attention as possible, and the developer continue to hand the good work.

I went into this gaming not knowing what to expect, but I was delighted with what it had to offer. With fantastic artwork and detailed backgrounds. The game delivers. The characters are all unique in their own right and with an interesting overarching story, reminiscent of a lewder version of a plethora of fantasy novels, I'm sold on it. This is a game not to be missed and I look forward to future releases!

This game is REALLY fucking funny and the animation is REALLY good. Kinda makes me think this game would be the results of Lord of the Rings having a drunken one night stand with Summer Time Saga (I mean that as a complement). Characters are good so far and I can't wait to see the next update!

This is probably one of the best games on this platform.
Or, at least, one of the best games I've played so far.
The story is entertaining, not complicated and with a nice touch of humor that lightens the mood of what should be a porn game but is far more.
Then there is the art
THE ART
characters are gorgeous, colors and style are amazing and everything from the HUD to the sex scenes is done wonderfully.
The only graphic-related thing that is not as good as the others is animation. Don't get me wrong they did a good job here too, but I'm sure they can be improved!

I'm looking forward to further updates!

as of now, its still a vary limited storyline. but the artwork and the hand drawn aspect of it just makes it all sooo worth it to play.
i hope to see more and more updates, and more contents.
seriously tho, we need to have more well made games like this. i mean the story and the art, just makes it leagues better than 90% of the games here.

Really a wonderful game, its a really fun and erotic one. I had a lot of fun with this one and the hand drawning art is fantastic. I really recommend and have high hopes about this one when its finished.

played v0.3.01, so far the game is very promising. game has fantastic art as is self evident if you check the screenshots. story and dialogue are good, there are some funny moments and the MC is actually bearable. right now there seems to be a lot of content missing, you are only allowed to visit a tiny fraction of the map and there are only very few scenes. gameplay is a bit repetitive basically waiting until a certain period of the day and then doing fetch-type quests to proceed, repeat. Day/week system is not utilized at all. There are only fake-choices in the game that have no impact on anything. UI is slick and in general I'd say that the visual department is pulling the heavy weight for sure. Very promising and could be an easy 5 stars once more content is added and the gameplay gets more refined.

Pros:
- Quality and design of characters.
- Some humour always helps
- The plot seems interesting, just hoping it won't be stretched in 100+ updates just following patreons' wishes. A dev should stick on his/her own plan, eventually adding extra features

Cons:
- The MC. Too cheesy, too immature, he's indeed an idiot and that ruins the experience for a good part.
- Grind. Some sex-scenes requires way too much grind, while other ones are basically quickly unlocked. It's not a real "con", but a bit frustating.
- Sex dialogues: I'm not a fan of a words-wall and 300 sentences for a single sex scene, but repeated dialogues like "You're soooo gggooooodd, yyyyyyyesss, bbbbbbig" that often happen in game don't appeal me that much, actually turn me off. Change it with rough rp, whatever you want, just not something a 12yo boy could write.

Conclusion: there's a lot of room for improvement and I hope to see further updates that could help this game to detach itself from the 100+ copies of similar games around on the forum-online.

I'll increase my score to 4 stars because I noticed a huge improvement in animation and I really like Chestnut's artstyle. The writings too seem somewhat better compared to the previous scenes and the "anime" trip really got me offguard lol

(After v0.6):
The creation of a game is indeed a resource consuming process and I appreciate there're devs out there that imbue their passions and their visions of a VN(for me it's) in their works. On ther other hand after 2+ years I think there's indeed something wrong in their planning and on the long way it could cause some problems with their supporters.

First of all: is the game worth of playing? YES 100%
Does the game need indeed 10-11 months for a single update? Well yes and no. Compared to the previous releases I see unfortunately the same Patreon's formula, that is the bigger the income is, the slower the updates are, or so I'd tend to think at the beginning, as on the contrary Magicnuts has always shared info on this forum and not only on patreon/discord.
In this version we've basically a side-story with Rose and I loved every single visual detail, especially her sexier(for me) demon-version, while what put me off were mostly the "Think" moments(I mean 1-2 times, but every single time..) and the fact that your choices as player again don't change a single thing, so what's the point of selecting an option? In this case the update drags itself just for unlocking x-scenes and there you have it, or so was my impression while playing it.
Do I dislike the new release? No. Am I disappointed? Yes, for a good part, as I was expecting something more after almost 1 year, especially comparing a part-time production to the actual one, that in theory should be full-time. However Patreon is Patreon and I can't blame devs for taking their own time, even though I'm sure they need to reconsider their concept, because comparing the actual existent content to the whole in-game map I highly doubt the game will be completed in the next 5-years, actually I'm quite sure it'll never be finished as many here think, especially if it takes so long for just a single (small) update.

I'll decrease my rating to 3/5 stars again for the reason I mentioned.

EDIT 11/23:
I think over 1 year for a small update shows indeed that there's something wrong in the development of the game. I doubt we'll see 30 scenes with Gomira and I think we'll also have maybe 2 hours of gameplay, with 50-70% of "Think" times as I already noticed by some weekly posts and we'll see the next one maybe in 2025 if lucky. I'm going to stop following the game for a while because I don't see a change coming in this direction.
2/5 stars just for the nice art, back to 3 or more once something finally drops.

(v.7.0.03):
Moving back to 3 stars because it finally dropped and the art is always the main strength of the game. However the story seems somewhat meh. I found the one including the dragon way more interesting than Gomira's, even though I like her character. 20 years in prison and she agrees about fucking with her old friend/enemy like nothing happened. Sex scens also mostly vanilla and the amazon pose was a very nice touch, but the dialogues(yeah I know who read it?)are always underwhelming and I usually avoid to read them after the 2nd time.
Overall an update that I enjoyed, but I'm still convinced the game will never be finished. Too many zones, lack of progress of the main story and over 2 years for a 4-5 hours update, reading slowly, are way too much for a (small) team working fulltime on it.
I'll keep following it every now and then, but they really need to find a way to speed up the whole thing.
