What about some extra mechanics?

Hello, guys. I'm looking at game's trends for a couple of years now and I noticed that game's quality doesn't affect game's popularity anymore.
Can you please tell me what are you looking in games at? Gameplay? Visuals? Or just overall possibility to jerk off?
Would you support a game with a rare full pregnancy mechanics and well made gameplay? By gameplay I don't mean go and fuck everyone.
Thanks.
Im sure you already have a lot if opinions to dissect, but this is something I have been thinking about a lot lately.

Like people said before, each person has their own opinions and likes/dislikes and what Im gonna say is just my opinion.

For me, the first impression a game makes on a potential player is the most important one (AVNs and AAA games alike). AAA games do it by trailers, AVNs do it by their VISUALS and those are the ones that "make me" want to try. But in my opinion, what keeps me playing is the STORY/GAMEPLAY and the CHOICES in the game.

There are a lot, and I mean A LOT of games on this site that have good visuals, but then the MC doesnt have a personality whatsoever and the women just spread their legs to him likes hes a God among men. Other examples are games that have the MC fuck like 50 times in a day and still have cum to spread around, because clearly thats an alternative reality with 100 hours a day just for the MC to satisfy all of his 100+ women harem every day (If you know the game Im talking about you would understand .

You also have the other side of the coin... There are games that have such beautiful stories and writing, but then their visuals in my opinion are so bad... There is a game in particular that has so many good ratings and is one of the best rated games in f95, but I dont play it because the visuals are just not for me

So its a combination of the 2. A dev doesnt need to implement more mini games and more shit to inflate the game because then the story doesnt progress and the updates are more "thick" than "long" (Haha, an appropriate Sex pun :sneaky:)

I noticed that game's quality doesn't affect game's popularity anymore.
This for me isnt anything new and you see it happening everywhere and not just on AVNs. Take the TV show Squid Game/Round 6 that is breaking the internet for a month now... People talk about that TV show like its the best thing since sliced bread but IMHO its such a flawed show that I laughed at those people stupidity through out everything :D.

The "popularity" in this site for me is going to the latest updates and sorting it by weighted rating (star icon) on the right. First 5 pages at least are full of amazing games depending on your likes

Just because it is an adult game, doesn't necessary mean the player just want to unzip and stroke away.
Totally agree. Summarizing adult games to fap games is forgetting to categories of players.

Firstly, the ones who, at this moment, just want some light entertainment. A not to bad adult game is perfect for that, because it don't need too much attention and/or too much efforts, while having this spicy touch with its lewd content.
Secondly, the ones who are in a couple. Playing adult games while in couple is a good way to spice up your sex life, or sometimes to just warm up the mood. It can also permit to gently introduce your partner in some kink.

There a whole part of the adult production, at least in Europe, that isn't at all intended for masturbation. Between Van Gotha or Manara comics strip, to most of European adult literature, the stories are well wrote, sometimes really deep, clearly not for kids, nor safe for works, but also not really fappable.
And there's no reason for this to be different just because we are talking about adult games.

It's probably less visible, because video games appeal more the youth, and those are generally single at the time they join the community. Plus, it's easier to get adult games, pirated or not, than to get adult comics strips or books, and more discreet to own them ; when you finally find a girl, just delete the right folder on your computer, and you're ride of all evidences.
But, if this can possibly be the reason why half of the community, or perhaps more, want games to fap, it doesn't mean that the elders don't fall in one of the two other categories.

Exactly. I remember times when light erotic games were popular. They didn't offer you over billion sex scenes in a first hour. You had to play a bit to achieve scene.

When games was actual games? :p
To be fair, a part of the Japaneses adult production in the 90's were actual games. Mostly JRPG with a touch of Mass Effect sex ; or a better version of Sakura Dungeon if you prefer. And there's still some RPG Maker games, especially Asians ones, that tend to this.

good games are rare in general, regardless how much funding you have available. we're lucky if there's one good egg in a year out of tens of thousands of published games. I think I've ran into exactly 2 good games in the last 10 years, stellaris and valheim. and even valheim comes with an asterisk because it's still far from complete or even halway there.

some of it is explained by a widely accepted strategy of making deliberately shit games to catch some psychopathic whales or to inject predatory addictive mechanics, but also generally people just have bad taste. like incredibly bad, not just that they're not some form of elitists. they simply can't come up with anything good. it's hard, and the people who can do it are extremely rare.

  1. Fluency. The English needs to be relatively decent. I've quit games due to the dev's Runglish or Frenglish. Beyond that, the writer doesn't have to be Shakespeare as long as they can do a good job with the fetish content, but I do favor ones with more writing chops.

These are all potential deal-breakers, but if the conditions are met, I prioritize games that are just more appealing in these aspects. The artstyle is not that important, except Koikatu and real-porn, which I mostly avoid unless the game really appeals otherwise.
God, I cannot over emphasize how much Engrish or major continuity errors take me out of a game. I'm not expecting high art, but the story needs to be sensible and I don't want to see typos and syntax errors. These tell me that a dev is sloppy and not concerned with details.

I'm definitely primarily a visual first guy, but visuals are by no means the be-all and end-all, gameplay mechanics/good writing/interesting story have the potential to really make me invested in a game, to make me follow its development and potentially trow some money the devs (if I see reasonable progression in the development/its already complete)

regarding your question referring to a pregnancy mechanic no, personally, I have no interest in the pregnancy thing

Perhaps it's because i've been playing adult games since the days of , but:
  • I look at porn when i want to go to climax.
  • I read hentai manga when i want to care about the story.
  • I play adult games for arousal/stimulation. Basically i want an

I don't play VN so i don't care about the story in adult games one bit. In fact i would like it if we had more games that sacrificed story to focus on an interesting game mechanic. No need to make games bigger or add extra development time, just focus on what matters and leave out the stuff that doesn't. People who care about the art/story will always have plenty to choose from. Those of us who want gameplay have a harder time because it also needs to match your fetishes on top of having interesting gameplay. I don't care how high or low quality the graphics are as long as they match my tastes (clothed sex, no watermelon boobs, no horse-sized cock, etc...). So contrary to what others prefer, i would rather story and graphics take a back seat in favor of gameplay. Engrish and MTL is A-OK with me.

So rather than "adding" extra mechanics, i would prefer more games use an interesting mechanic as the main focus and build the game around that instead of the other way around.

The pregnancy question seems like a separate topic, but the best pregnancy system i've personally come across is in Violated Heroine. I would like to see more like that.
