What are some good/successful/popular AVN's that DON'T have animations?

Working on my first AVN and it's going well, aside from that fact that I have no animations.

Attempting to learn how to animate would of course make my project better if I could pull it off. But omitting the animations would allow me to sink more time into player choice and overall quality of the renders and story.

I've done a bit of reading on this forum and there seems to be a genuine sentiment of 'good animations are preferred, but no animations are better than bad animations'.

If you know of any good AVN's without animation, please link them below, and perhaps if you wouldn't mind saying whether you believe the lack of animations impacted your experience playing the game in any way?

Pretty sure most games eventually add a few animations here and there. Unless it's a hardware limitation there's just no reason to limit yourself into not adding any animation whatsoever. You don't need need animations, just like you don't need music, but it adds to the experience.

You can check out Friends in need if you want an example of a bare bones game without music or animations.

I'm not sure where my game would fall under "good/successful/popular" I don't think I meet any of those criteria except maybe slightly good? based on ratings. My game doesn't have animations or sounds, and it doesn't seem to impact my readers that much.

Thank you very much. I was able to get a filtered list. A lot of the titles I see are praised for their story and writing, which leads me to believe that as long as those are solid, lack of animation won't be a dealbreaker fora lot of players.
It's not a deal breaker. But there's a reason why most games have animations and music. Animations are a huge deal for sex scenes, but they can also be used for some cool transitions and action scenes. Music and sounds are great for immersion. Candy crush for example wouldn't be nearly as addicting without its casino-like effects and sounds.

Being a solo dev is really no easy task, you have to be good at a handful of very different skills. And having animations and sounds is very much a plus for any game, ultimately it's your choice whether they're worth adding, but your game will be compared against games that do have them. It's also worth considering not going at it alone, or contracting someone to do the animations for you.

I mean, if the story is great and captivating, noone is gonna care about the lack of animations, trust me.

Yes, that is definitely a good point. Players don't care what the capabilities of each dev are, or whether they are a team or solo. Every game on the market is equally competing for player's time, attention and money.

I suppose what I could take away from this, is that if I was going to omit something important like animation or sound, there should at least be something else exceptional about the game (amazing story, renders, branching) to compensate for that.
