At the moment, I feel like I still haven't played enough games/VN's to complete my "top 10" list, if I were to only choose the ones I've already completed playing. I'm still fairly new to these adult visual novels, and I certainly have come across ones that are not my cup of tea, and/or less than stellar. I prefer games that are story-driven, romantic, and have main and supportive characters that are likeable. The mystery/suspense element is also quite welcome. Out of the games that I've actually finished playing, the following currently have their places on my list of favourites, and in no particular order:
1. Melody - This is the very first VN I've ever played, and the experience was very enjoyable.
2. Leap Of Faith - When talking about my favourites, or my "top 10", this is one of the games that will always be on the list. This isn't just a porn game really. This is a surprisingly well-written, at times emotionally gripping tale that just happens to have sexually explicit scenes in it. Good soundtrack, too!
3. Acting Lessons - Another well-written story that has brought me laughter and tears. The plot twists definitely had me impressed.
4. Avalon - I must say I really like this game. I think that, once one starts thinking in terms of real life time duration, one may begin to have doubts about this game. The question of "why is that character behaving like that so soon after....?" may cross one's mind, for example. But I prefer simply to take it at face value and appreciate the story for what it is. The story itself tells the importance of being kind and caring, and I like that. Also good soundtrack!
5. DMD - Another game from the same creator who spawned Melody. I kept seeing high ratings on this game, and in the end I said, "okay, I'll bite." And I'm glad I bit, lol. This game stirs up my paternal side! lol The MC for this game, as well as Melody's counterpart, both seem to make decisions that are a bit extreme at times, but overall I'm comfortable playing as these protagonists.
6. Timeless Island - I had a lot of fun playing this game, as there are so many things to do in it. For a game where the goal is to reach a harem ending, this actually does a fairly good job of making each female lead characters likeable with endearing qualities. I personally like the story line and the plot twists, and some aspects of the animation as well.
7. Sisterly Lust - But only via the romantic Bella route for me, because I'm not into all that dominant/submissive power play. In order for me to enjoy this game, I have had to make certain choices so that the overall story would omit certain scenes. But with those aspects of the story omitted, I was able to enjoy a nice, romantic game.
8. Become A Rock Star - Another fun game that features musicians. I enjoyed the story and got to develop some emotional attachment to some of the characters (this is a good sign). I'm a fan of Lisa personally.
Below are the games I'm currently playing. These have both been very enjoyable so far, and I can see them ending up on my favourite list once I've finished playing them, unless something ruins the playing experience for me. I doubt it, though. So, the other (potential) two are:
(9). After Inferno - I definitely prefer to play 3DCG type games over 2D, but even so, I am aware these are games. So I'm totally okay with the Alita Battle Angel eyes, lol. So far so good, I really appreciate the animation and the voice-over.
(10). Once In A Lifetime - One of the games that have received really high ratings is called Eternum, which I have yet to play. Once In A Lifetime just happens to be an earlier offering from the same developer. It's a really fun game so far. The characters don't really look realistic, but oddly attractive. I'm especially drawn to Judie and Lauren.
