Was there any sort commotion ?
Some loli/incest/bestiality/etc... hater in high ranks of company ?
Some Christian filled lawsuit ??
It´s also possible that they just did it, just to avoid getting associated
with extreme nsfw things, but it doesn´t make sense, minding targeted
audience on patreon and people just don´t give a shit about these things
anyway.

Nevermind -_- , found Patreon CEO video, explaining that Patreon was "never" meant to be platform, for adult material distribution.

I do not recall reading anything specific that could be pointed to as proof of why Patreon went this way but the informed speculation is that they started cleaning up due to Paypal and other banking concerns. As the platform has grown Patreon is looking to clean up the adult content to make it business "friendly" for mainstream purposes, whatever that ends up being for them.

I think that's mainly the credit card banking systems / billing systems.
As they need to know the source of the money.
Patreon collects the money and redistributes to the artists taking a small fee on each transcation.
In this situation they need to give feedback on their income as well. And you have to be fully transparent with the billing companies.
Otherwise everybody could make money easily with illegal and grey stuff.

These two articles might help:

It does not appear their crackdown has anything to do with "legal" aspects. There is nothing illegal about games depicting tabook subjects. For example, Literotica doesn't worry about fictional erotic stories depicting incest, rape, mind control etc.

This is, quite simply, a company working to ensure its Brand is attractive to investors. People discussing "legal" aspects or "censorship" or "government" are missing the point, I think. Patreon thinks they will make more money by avoiding their brand being linked to adult-themed projects, especially taboo-themed projects.

its far more nuanced than that. If you go to the development area there's a sticky thread about Patreon. Within the last 2-3 days @ASLPro3D posted a pretty good explanation of the real reason behind the changes.

In short: new investor, DFJ Venture capital and their 60 million $ (it's all in Conte's tweets). While it's true that banks have hard time dealing with adult content, it's only one of the factors. At one time they did, apparently got in trouble with Paypal, even froze new subscriptions for NSFW content with it, but after a while, in an official mail they bragged how they made a deal with Paypal subsidiary and how they are proud to welcome adult creators on their platform.

The thing is they piggy backed on fetish porn until they felt strong enough to cut ties. Back in the day company totally against their "big 3" wouldn't do that, wold they?

You know it's really hypocritical when these same banks have done (and probably still do) business with drug kingpins, dictators and terrorists. But of course that's all done behind closed doors so they can maintain their image. Hell just look at the scandals that came out in the last 10 years. Banks are totally immoral with little to no oversite. But the far too visual taint from porn games makes them uneasy? Assholes with too much money and power.

And, while searching for something totally unrelated, I found why, and who started all this shit. But I'll not link the pages directly. I don't want f95z to appear in his logs, because the authors is a (read the last three lines ; seriously, a bounty to reward doxing ? Whatever the reasons, who do this kind of shit ?).
So, like I don't want to make the staff have to deal with more shit that they already have to do, instead, and click on "Patreon and CEO Jack Conte Knowingly Monetise Paedophilia [...]". Then go back on google and click on "Patreon Banned Sargon Yet CEO Jack Conte Allowed [...]", where you'll found pearls like :
Not long after the response from the card networks, ‘Waysin’ finally disappeared from Patreon. The investigation did not end there however. My article of 2017 dealt with a wide variety of other objectionable materials on Patreon such as cannibalism and rape fetish images. The card networks forced Patreon to clean house – which was reported by various media such as (archive) (although they did not realise who was ultimately behind it all). The purges likely cost Patreon a 5 to 6 figure sum in revenue in the short term and 7 figures in the longer term.

Supposedly ‘woke’ Jack Conte had been willing to let the most unspeakably depraved imaginable images of screaming, crying children being unnaturally raped circulate on his platform. Willingly. Knowingly. In that day, Jack Conte showed the world his moral centre. Patreon should have taken down the ‘Waysin’ page the day they read my report. Instead they allowed the money to continue to flow into the pockets of the author of the vile child rape material.
The name of the site say it all, being an historical witch hunter. As for the underlined parts, well, mister didn't fought (on the wrong side obviously) during the for nothing. He know that we are all the spawns of the Devil. He's on a mission from God and must be obeyed blindly.

On a side note, for once US bigots were innocents, it was a UK one.

By that time I heard the specifically about incest, it was a demand from Paypal, in order to keep allowing payments to Patreon.

Many users protested against some Paypal rules, not only related to Patreon, they adopted and enforced stricter rules for multiple partners.

As a creator I prefer Payoneer thousands of times rather than Paypal, for payouts, but patrons mostly pay with paypal.

And the (indirectly) linked references explain why Paypal did this... When the two major cards companies goes against you, it's not because you're the first, and massively used, online payment processor that you can tell them that you don't care.

Visa and Mastercard forbid those things in there TOS. I know people are saying but wait some major porn companies get away with it. That is because they are so big they make a deal directly with Visa and Mastercard in which the normal TOS does not apply also the sheer number of transactions cut the chargeback rates below 2% making them low risk. I do think at some point Visa and Mastercard will get to Subscribstar as they did to Paypal and Patreon it's not an if but a when. I am very surprised Patreon does not charge us for Chargebacks but that may be why there fees are high Chargebacks cost $20 to $60 per Chargeback plus the amount of the Chargeback. Also being in the US there are the Different States, Citys, and Towns with varying Obsinaty and Porn laws that make a uniform policy practically impossible
