What Criteria Do You Guys Have For a Good Adult Game?

It sounds like you guys would be interested in a game even if the porn wasn't the main priority. The reason why I bring that up or even why I started this thread was because I found that the game I made has a pornographic scene every 7500 to 10000 words. My biggest worry was that people would get bored with that if they weren't constantly rewarded with porn every minute. But it seems that as long as character interactions are interesting enough, low amounts of porn isn't a deal-breaker.
I love Winter Wolves VN's and they have 1 maybe 2 sex CG's per character in the entirety of their games.

I love their stuff because they usually have great characters and a decent plot.

Most of the time I don't read, instead I just skim and get the gist of what the them is. Slow walking and perma death is also a turn off.
For me a good game is having freedom and repeatable content. like summer time saga corruption and others.

Just to clarify, I surely dont mind if a game has lot of porn content. Be it deviant, normal, dirty. And I also wont mind a game that you described. But thats really a state of mind, or lets name it, how horny someone is.

Its somewhat like the question of which engine to use for a game, and here it is the question of what game to play. Right tools for the right job. Because just like foreplay, people sometimes like (or can tolerate it more) when its building up and slower first, but when fired up and horny even simple VN's that just throw a few choices in there now and then can be too annoying.
Thats the point that someone else made as well, if you want only porn, then dont play a game. Its mood related, at least for me. But then again, good decision making or logical thinking doesnt really happen when yer fucking randy.

My first experience with this whole Adult Game, started in html, adrift, (goblin's game), tfgamessite, than chyoa, so i don't mind reading, building character, etc

My opinions,

  • I hate "FUCK FEST" : suddenly you fuck that, fuck this, that, that again, this again, another that :D and fucking everyone you meet, (i think fuck fest it's ok if the game almost finish, not in early release)
  • I Hate Linear / Kinetic Game? , well i don't come here for that :p
-------------------------|||-------------------------
  • I Love "A Lot of Choice" : like "Choose Your Own Adventure" :D
it's a game, so a game at last should make me thinking, think how to fuck this girl how to fuck that, fuck this

game examples :
I block this game in here :D
  • Dating my daughter, first time i try "woo i love it", a lot of choice, but no, 80% that choice just to make you to stop skipping the text i guess, it's not bring effect later, only a few. and even the choice give you a GAME OVER, damn, it's must be Linear :D -----it's even harder while 1 hand it's busy :D ( i can't see skip button :( )
I Love this game :
  • Good Girl Gone Bad, i just love it, lot a choice, every choice bring effect to the character, just LOVE IT :D
well, that my opinion, people said, JUST WATCH A PORN, that's how i see game like DMD, just like watching a porn but more difficult :D

DMD it's good game, just example

Well, it varies from game to game. I don't have a specific list with points that needs to be checked, before I will play a game. As an example, my 3 biggest fetishes are Incest, Pregnancy & non-concensual, however, 2 of my all-time favourite adult games "Redemption for Jessika" & "Living with temptation" feature very little or none of these. I am also not a fan of NTR, but I won't mind it in my game, if it feels fairly done and adds something of value to the story.
I guess what I am looking mostly for, is a game with attractive and interesting characters and a an interesting storyline. As an example "Superpowered" features both incest and non-con, but the game simply bores me, because the MC has the personality of a wet paper towel and the gameplay isn't fun to me.

A few things that would turn me AWAY from a game though, would stupid or unfair mechanics in the game. A classic example of a stupid mechanic, is the classic "go to the other end of the town and then return here" mechanic from many RPG maker games. The mechanic does nothing, except stuffing the playtime to make the game seem longer.
An unfair mechanic would be a game where you choose option 3 in a dialogue, which leads to a game over with a certain character, BUT the game doesn't show this until an hour later or so. Now, if you want to go back and fix it, you will have lost an hour of your life and will have to endure another boring 20 minutes of so to fast-forward back to your previous progress.

Of course terrible graphics/grammar is also a big factor, but I have played many games where the graphics weren't stellar in any way, but the story kept me engaged. Same with grammar.

In short, just give me a game with interesting characters, a good story, and more importantly: The heart of the developer (not necessarily in the litteral sense).

I mostly agree with most of what's been posted on here, but I would like to expand on something just a little. I like good writing. I don't necessarily mean story, though I guess that could be covered there. I want the dialog to sound like something someone would actually say. I like things to make sense. I also like choices, and I appreciate it when all of the different choice paths seem to flow naturally. Sometimes, you can tell which path the creator favors, and it feels like the others were just thrown in to fulfill a request or something like that.

One of the games I have found myself replaying the most is Lab Rats 1. The renders are nothing special, with no actual background, just a picture of whatever room/environment you're in. However, as you progress, you have the choice to do whatever you wish in the scene.

On the flip side, things that I hate in games. I absolutely hate "sprites on a poorly rendered map". The only game I enjoy that makes you move around on a map is Coceter Chronicles. When I'm looking at new releases on here, I check the preview pics; if I see a sprite/map, I don't download it. Also, I have never encountered a game of this genre that had a combat system that was anything other than an annoyance.

As for fetishes, this is more a matter of personal taste. I don't enjoy NTR or outright rape. I don't like any sort of bathroom stuff. I don't get the attraction to impregnation. Incest is an odd one for me. It's not a turn on in and of itself, but in games it serves to provide a target rich environment, so I am generally okay with it. I see a lot of people post that they don't like magic or mind control elements in games. For me, it comes down to willing suspension of disbelief. If a protagonist is turning his family into his own personal harem, is it really believable that he can convince them to all be okay with it without some sort of mind control?

A game has to evoke emotion from me and i don't mean porn or lust, character depth and story. Good graphics is important but does not have to be mind blowing and pet hate is badly translated English. Porn can be an add on and not main driver behind the game.

Acting Lessons is a game that has peaked my interest of late and I read that the image quality will be much better in future.

For me a good game is composed by

- A good atmosphere more than a good story. Since it's a PORN games, so sex need to be the the most important content in the game, and it's not easy to justify / implement such amount of sex in a game with a viable story. But the atmosphere need to be here. What I'm saying is that i'm ready to accept a game without a fantastic and deep story if i'm already sucked in the game by the atmosphere around. Example of games with a great atmosphere : Depraved Awakening, Summertime Saga, Darktoz games.
- Well, exciting girls, i'm not too demanding about the engine used for the models. Can be Daz, Sex villa, hand drawn, etc. Still I have a preference about hand drawn art (summertime saga best ever dawg). Even if personnaly have a preference for curvy women, trying to implement multiple body types can only be a boon.
- Gameplay; RPGMaker is almost out of question. Even if can work not too bad for some games (Peasant's quest, Farmer's Dream, etc) I don't think it has enough depth in it to be awesome. Point & Click seems ok. You'll say to me, " you say that RPGM doesn't have any depth but you're okay with a simple point & click ". Yes because at least the grind is less tiring, and no " go here by foot to do something ". I wouldn't ask a developer to do a full 3d game like some dedicated devs, Breeders of the Nephylims, Viking's daughter, etc. Of course it's the ideal scenario, but I understand the amount of work it requires, so point & click works for me. (Look summertime saga(again), Milfy City). Still, there are others gameplay options, as for example a turn based rpg, with management element, like Sengoku Rance (I thoroughly enjoyed this game, my favourite ero game of all time easily.)
- Thing that I could include in the ' art ' section but a bit different. You can have good models but the poses during the scenes and all is something that have to be mastered separately. Exciting poses, good camera angles and such.
- Good english, I think it's a minimum (not like mine)
- A gallery/replay section

In this order:
1. The right genre and hours of content, before I download a game (the ugly truth is, that I would not play the best game ever, if it's not my genre)
2. Interesting story and characters (I only like certain characters)
3. I want decisions who have influence on the story (or good gameplay/interactions, it's must be fun to PLAY, otherwise I could read a good story)
4. Good graphics (nice to have but not important, I'm happy with a interactive text adventure)

There is one game I get a ton of recommendations for and it's one that frustrated me to no end and gave me another thing to look out for.

IF it's a game based on choices, I hate it when certain routes are so convoluted or mired in bullshit that they just aren't fun.

Good Girl Gone Bad is the one I keep getting told to play and I have to keep saying i've played it and I fucking hate it.

If i'm playing a female protag I go the lesbian route. It's the content I prefer and i've got no interest in chasing blokes.

So in order to get to any lesbian content I had to be with one bloke, do stuff with another bloke and a whole bunch of bullshit for a a bit of content that was minimal to say the least.

I could have her fuck any number of blokes but to get to a woman I had to dive through flaming hoops while reciting the works of Shakespear in Latin.

I had to go through far too much content I didn't enjoy to get to the part I did only to find it was minimal, throwaway and meaningless.

So many choices in that game yet very few interested me.

If someone could do something like GGGB but have a female LI from the start I would throw my money at that shit.

Some interesting responses so far. For me, from most important to least important into whether or not I download a game and take it for a spin:

  1. Does the game feature impregnation? If so, I'm downloading it, even if its text only, super furry, only partially translated from Russian and is 8 gigs of uncompressed mp4 files? Doesn't matter, I'm downloading it
  2. Does the game feature futa on female? I'll take it for a spin, but not go to the lengths as number 1
  3. is the game complete? If it's anything less than a 0.5 I'm not touching it. 0.1 versions might as well not be posted IMO
  4. Are the scenes animated? There's something about animation frames that make a mediocre scene go shitty.
  5. If I see DAZ models I assume the game is low effort. Every week there are a dozen new Renpy/RPGmaker games posted using the same DAZ models. It's gotten to the point that ripping images from honeyselect is preferred.
Things that will make me stop playing a game:
  1. Pointless grinding. If I'm rotating through the same actions on a loop to just unlock scenes, then I just turn it off. The most recent offender of this was Love Lotion (I think that's the name). My own game is partially guilty of this, which makes me a hypocrite but whatever fuck you.
  2. A ton of work between the sex scenes. If I go more than 30 minutes wanting to touch me dick, then I stop playing. I'm not playing anything off F95 for a story/gameplay. I'm playing it to jerk off.
  3. The art is too bad to get off.
And finally, Things that will bother me in games but I'll keep playing because I'm a degenerate:

  1. People fucking for no reason, especially incest. I'm working through The Artifact right now and it along with anything by ICSTOR is guilty as goddamn sin for this. "OH HI AUNT, YOU'RE NAKED, LOOK AT MY DICK, OKAY LETS FUCK." Put a bit of effort. The idea that a woman looks at a cock and becomes uncontrollably aroused is beyond low effort.
  2. Women reacting to rape with only mild irritation.
  3. Nonsensical plot paths, where you randomly just roam the map and shit happens. RPGMaker games are the worst for this, where you have to roam every inch of the map because some shack in the corner might have a scene you haven't the slightest idea it exists.
And last but not least, the one thing that makes me stop jerking off, rub my temple, and realize the kind of shit I waste my time with.
  1. Anytime theres a scene where a woman is naked, bending over and waiting to be fucked from behind for some reason. MC then walks up and fucks said woman, and she never turns around for the entire sexual encounter and believes said cock to belong to her boyfriend/husband. The idea someone would just 'present' like that and never even look back at what the fuck was inside her. Drives me nuts.

I'm a bit confused on this point. Just to be clear, are you saying if you see the base standard DAZ models, like Victoria? Or a model you've already seen before? That they haven't bothered to customize it, is that the point?

I'm going to be honest, I don't know the names of the models. But they are just so common it's an internal turn off when I see them.

Competent writing, player choice, player engagement (with gameplay mechanics) and at least adequate graphical presentation make a good game for me.

this is my opinion

there are many games in this site i have payed because

1-first thing i need is the story (not some porn stuff and easy fuck) if i need porn i know where to go believe me
here i need story
2-why most of dev using this words (our little secret ) really i hated this word
3-most of the people here hate NTR of course me too so if there is NTR not playing it
4-this is my only thing (i hate mind control and female protagonist ) dont know about others
5-when play a game i need to feel that iam playing story game with adult content not porn game without content

thats it for now :D
This. Except Ntr. That's the first thing i look in a game.

Depends...
I play multiple genres and it depends on what I expect to play and what I get.

Recently I started playing DOOM (new one) and for most part I love it, only thing I hate is fail jump -> die parts.
As a FPS it has good, fast paced combat, main reason why I dislike most FPS games is that combat is too slow (played too much UT on 120% speed).

Also i play Witcher 3, and I like it better than expected, since it fixes many faults of second game.

Another game I often play is Shop Heroes, waiting game (worst genre ever), this one I only play for good crafting, not story or pace.

I mentioned 3 games, and all 3 are different completely, and all 3 deliver what I expect from them to a satisfying degree.

I tried a number of popular games, praised by many, but abandoned them just because they lacked something, or tried to add stuff which sucked.

Recently I stopped playing Path of Exile, great successor to Diablo 2 (been playing it since open beta and then it was better than now), but GGG started catering too much to no-lifer part of playerbase, so game became tedious instead of fun. Maybe one day I'll return as casual, but for now I gave up on it.

In the end, in games I play I expect to get what they promised (in games I get from this site it's well animated sex scenes, preferably in pixel art, with occasional diamond that delivers multiple good parts)

well for one it has to be an actual game, not some version 0.1 bullshit like 99% of the threads that get created in the game forum every day. stupid patreon cashgrabs
I actually don't mind developments in progress if it's a VN-type game. However, I really dislike being in-game and seeing "Under Construction," "Not Yet Implemented," or "Come check this out in a future update!" all over the place. Taffy Tales, for example, is a big offender of this.

Objective criteria:
- Interesting characters with backgrounds and personality traits other than "big boobs" or "large dick".
- Character customisation, a variety of outfits
- Consistent and plausible storytelling
- Good Artwork (No random photos from porn sites)
- Not too many bugs (I'm realistic here, as long as it's reasonably playable, it's ok)
- No grind (a porn game shouldn't be about repeating mini games to remove a woman's bra)
Subjective criteria:
- Lesbians
- Milfs
- Domination/BDSM
- Lingerie and high heels
- Fantasy, sci-fi or cyberpunk setting
