VN Ren'Py What do you guys think? (Dev looking for feedback on first game)

Hey there!

My name is AdultCandy and I'm currently working on my first Ren'Py Visual Novel, which I plan to release soon. It's called Eternal Family and is about a foster who moves in with a mother and her "roommate" (daughter ofcourse). Behind the two women their beautifull appearances they also carry a secret that will drive the story

Some features that will really the game worthwile:
- Lewd content will gradually build up (Like DMD)
- I'm planning to include all kinds fetishes, but the player will always have the choice to not act them out.
- The game will be highly interactive in the sense that the player has to make a lot of choices throughout the game that influence Love & Corruption points (Primary) and (Fetish points; Ass, Boob, Sharing points etc)

You’re making a generic game in the hope that you attract a maximum number of followers. There is nothing unique in what you’ve presented so far. Maybe you should post a demo so that we can assess your CG, writing and coding skills. And if you’re going for the slow burn it’d better be good or people will get bored with it quickly.

Well it will definitely not be too generic, because that would make it boring. I'm really just trying to create a game that I myself would most like to play. This means the main tag are:
- Incest
- Corruption
& besides this:
- Anal
- Oral
- Lesbian
- Public
- Blackmail
- MILF

It revolves around a mail protagonist in a triangle relationship where you have the option to focus on one of the two women or have them both together (so definitely a lot of Lesbian).

I like the renders, nicely done! If it has a good story, and enough of it, I bet it'll do well. Good luck!
For me though, it's just "incest game #832" that I'd gloss over and move along. (and yes, that number is correct according to tag search)
The first few games with incest that I played were novel at the time, but it has become so over-saturated with them that I really don't care for them.
But that's just my personal opinion. I know there are plenty of fans for it, so don't let me dissuade you from doing what you love.

The GUI you chose is a strain on the GpU and will kill the mood with all the lag.
Mini games better be comprehensible and fun to do over, otherwise a grind game.
There must be easy access to saves and full screen scenes ...

Thanks for the tip. How are you sure that the GUI causes lag?
BTW, everything from loading/saving and fullscreen-mode is accessible from both the menu at the bottom + hotkeys. Transforms/Animations in interacting with the GUI may be a bit slow for your taste, but I was thinking about speeding them up anyway.

Some more advice ... some new dev already used your GUI and it was buggy as hell ...
a grind to navigate and 3 screens to go to and get out of for every save.
Please do not clog Ren'Py with the same Bs Unity or Unreal clusterfuck beginner games do.

Regarding the story... you really arent giving us anything new... Unless you make the black mail a central part of it...

- Probably some of the best looking renders I have seen in VN's although it looks like the environment was rendered separate to the models.

Although the story seems generic, so are most of the successful games on here.
Making a story unique can be a big risk since only a very few games have successfully done it and you may also get comments like "Peepol play gams for the sex not storyy!" in broken english.

Good luck on your game, can't wait to play it.

I get what you mean by Unity and Unreal making games unnecessarily cloggy sometimes (not always).
I'll try my best to keep it as smooth and quick to use as any other Ren'Py game, which is going fine up till now (150 uncompressed renders), but I just want to add some extra design to it. I dunno, for me that makes the overall game feel more interesting than when I use the default Ren'Py GUI. Besides that, the GUI I'm using now is not that hard to customize and simplify.

Thanks man! And indeed the models are rendered seperately from the background, makes it easier to control the lighting & my pc won't allow otherwise..

Consider the tropes you'll be presenting in your game and add a little twist to them to make it unique from the other incest games.
Make sure the choices you add seem meaningful and mostly obvious to their results. Don't let your choices make the game go down to many different paths other wise it'll bog your game down and drive you mad keeping it all together.
Try to present a memorable moment in every update. Something to keep the people talking and looking forward to the next release.

Most importantly keep a stiff upper lip. Keep good criticism close and try to shrug off the trolls. You'll be surprised how often new developers lose morale after a first release.

Thanks for the tips, really helpful! The problems you describe sound really familiar to me. I've run into a lot of them in previous projects, it really remains a challenge handling these things and you always need to make concessions (with keeping certain crucial things in mind). About the side chick.. it will definitely be something dark, goth, punk like.

The UI and renders seem to have more effort put into more than the average game. Judging from the comments here, it's been mentioned there are multiple games that have been abandoned, on-hold, completed or currently releasing that have similar story, stats and characters even regarding the side chick you mentioned, so keep in mind there's competition with this type of game and that people might compare it to others if it's very similar so I would recommend something unique in your story that can keep people engaged. Regarding the characters I would recommend trying to making your models stand out as much as you can compared to other games, they aren't bad in the previews but I feel they can be improved a bit more so they could really shine.

Would love to have something other than the generic big titted monsters. Not saying all of them can't be, but to appeal to a wider audience it would be good to have a char with, dare I say it, smaller breasts. Just my opinion, feel free to make the game you want that is the most important part. Otherwise renders look quite nice. Good luck.
