To be truly morally just, you should inform them about your power and what you can do for them though.

If we're talking about a complete goody-2-shoes.. then perhaps.
But you can also be morally gray.
You could also use your powers to save a life because on that life depends the survival of many other lives, not because you care about the life that you had to save, for example.

So let's just say that.. it depends. On all sorts of things.
