What types of things do you look for/ want in a game. This could be an idea for something, or just something like "good animation"

It all depends on my mood...
9 times out of 10 I look for a well told story and plot to go along with my erotic content... A healthy and balanced mix is always good if done right... And I'm always a sucker for a romance story, or multiple romance stories, or romance alongside some lust, etc...
It does not need to get to the sexual stuff right out the gate, as I see many VN/Game starters do this, and it usually is just to entice donations rather then initiate a good VN/Game... It's a money ploy in most cases, not usually a good beginning to a story based VN/Game... It is rare that it feels like a natural part of the story most of the time, when used...
I don't mind if it's a grinder, as long as I don't have to spend hours to see anything worth while... I don't mind an Adventure based grinder as long as it gives me hints via well told story/dialogue and what not, rather then me having to look it up online, use a walk-through, or have to spend hours trying to figure it out... I don't mind a stat grinder, as long as I don't have to spend hours trying to figure out if a given stat even matters for gated content, or spend hours to find out I missed half the content because no hints were given that I was working on the wrong stats at the wrong moments and there is no going back, or having to spend hours seeing the same thing over and over and over again raising a few stats just to see a few brief moments of new content and then have to do that again for the next tiny fraction of content...
I will usually prefer well told choose your own adventure Visual Novel style game play... I don't mind a little navigation here and there either, as long as it's not hard to figure out what to do or where to go next to get to the next Visual Novel style content...
I do not want choices to be damned if you do and damned if you don't, as I do not like player/reader punishment... Even worse are game overs part way into playing/reading due to a choice where there was no hint given that the path would lead to a game over... And I hate it when you are placed in control of the destiny of a protagonist, that is doomed to be the victim no matter the path you choose...

That's a good question actually, I do like when games in general gives me a lot of autonomy, but don't mind a more linear experience if the story is good enough. At least in porn games I much prefer to have a female protagonist, as the point of view resonate better with me, for rather obvious reasons, and I really, really, like when there's character customization, like tons of clothes to choose from and basically turn the game into my dress-up doll lol

For me tags, Incest and Pregnancy, are the first things I look for to make sure the game is for me because i have an impregnation fetish. Second is a good story with a lot of romance, seduction, and if there is a lot of affection like kissing and cuddling all the better for me to stay interested.

Overall I like plots in which I start in a bad or risky situation and through my struggles I can make my way to the top. Having to deal with manipulative bitches, evil characters or things like that while feeling the challenge is what I find interesting.
I'm not against having a harem in the end and enjoying the MC's sex life but I want to feel I earned it!.

An interesting, well written, "slow burn" story which has a plot that isn't just about sexual gratification. The best games have plots that involve the MC doing their job or attending school and then also having sex. There are plenty of games which are focused purely on the sex and that's fine, there's obviously an interest in that content. I'd prefer that the game explore the relationships, world, and life of the MC as well as provide great renders of beautiful LI.
The second most important thing I look for in a game is choices that actually influence the story/plot. So a branching narrative with impactful choices that the player can make is incredible. I love when I play a game and realize that a choice I made an hour ago now has altered the story in a meaningful manner.
I prefer a well rendered and animated game with more than vanilla sex but that doesn't go too far off the deep end when it comes to fetishes. It is nice when the game allows the player to choose not to get a footjob and instead get a blowjob (or vice versa whatever your kink). A diversity of characters in type and personality is a must. But not too many, I don't want a game with 40 women to choose from but no real plot.
Otherwise, I am very tired of the well worn incest plotlines: the son comes home after x years a way and suddenly wants to fuck mom, cousin, sister, aunt, grandma, etc. If it was freshened up a bit to the father (MC) is being seduced by the daughter or some other variation that shook it up then it would be better. I am not a huge fan of incest plots, I feel like they've been overdone and it is refreshing to see games coming out that have nothing incestuous about their plots.

Good art and good dialogue are by far the two most important aspects to me. While voice acting and fancy animation are good additional features to have they cannot make up for art, dialogue and overall situations that are lacking.
In terms of gameplay, I like either short VNs or RPGs that are focused around decision making and time/resource management rather than grindy level progression and combat.

One thing I don't like are VNs with dead ends mid-way through a story.
Meaningful choices are one thing, but random ending points? They are frustrating. If you want to add a branch later, add it later. Don't add a stupid cockblock non-option because you've half-assed it.
If you don't want them to choose it, don't fucking offer them the choice.
It's fake optionality and extremely vexing, IMO.
Entertain people! That's what they're checking out your shit for.
You KNOW what the players want by their making choices, so write the paths and follow them yourselves. Know what the hell you're writing and why.
If the path the player is on is going towards a pervert's ending, then give the players those choices. If it's a romantic pathway, give them romance. It's not rocket surgery.
You're writing the linear paths, so figure it out IMO.
Use something like a mapping diagram if you can't keep it straight. (There's apps for that!)
Jerking people around for bullshit mechanics is bullshit. Don't use them if you don't have a good reason, and it better be a fucking good reason.
IMO, a lot of VNs should just be dead simple branching paths with tight writing. Re-use the art assets between different branches, and focus on good writing.
Cockblock grindy shit? Fuck that. Just give me a path and let me follow it towards my interest. I want to participate in the story, not grind ass for no reason.

For me, I want characters that are developed well enough to feel some sort of emotional attachment to. By far my biggest complaint with most of the adult games I play is most of the characters are just window dressing. I don't feel any attachment to them so it doesn't matter what happens to them, I just want to see them fuck.
If I'm playing a game where a guy who is supposedly my best friend comes over and brings his hot girlfriend over, does he actually feel like a friend? If he doesn't then he's just some random guy to be shoved aside so I can fuck his girl.
If it's more of an NTR type scenario then there should be enough character building with the MC's wife/sister/whoever for me to feel like I should care if someone takes her away from me. Otherwise all I'm doing is just picking whichever option leads to the most sex scenes without caring which characters are involved. I SHOULD care which characters are involved.

I'm after variety, exploraion and freedom. I'm much more into games like Lab Rats 2 and Glassix, where you can actually 'move around' the city, have actual stuff to do and more than just storylines. I love sandbox games and have very little interest in stories.
I found it surprising to learn most players seem to be against generic girls in LR2 while to me that's the biggest advantage of the game.
Also, I really like breaking taboos, especially incest. I find it funny that, since English is not my native language, I actually have no interest in incest in my native language, while in English itt becomes hot and mysterious.
Have to admit, I also prefer rather simple character design and animation. I prefer quantity over quality - but certain level of quality has to be there.
And I look for uncensored games only. A game with censorship is automatically garbage to me. But that's veering onto what I do NOT look for in a game, so moving on...
Oh yeah, and I prefer male protagonists, especially ones who aren't wanker crybabies.
