Simplified UI and free games... Pretty much the only two things lol. Pointless dramas as per usual on the internet forums of all kinds of fandoms - not my cup of tea, so I don't really care to engange anymore in them. Healthier on my mental side too.

Everything in moderation I've learned. And yeah, there aren't a whole lot of games that I still play either I think this year alone about ten I really like have been abandoned.
And taking years break in between doesn't feel like being missed out on the entertainment so much. Like, I've returned recently from the abstinence of video games and just like before, all the games are still in the exact same place I left them. No wonder some people indulge deeply into retro gaming culture nowadays, cos many games are still available through various sources decades later. Though, the core issue with most consumers is that some people can no longer maintain healthy relationship with consumable media, whether it's video games, news outlets, social media platforms and other pieces of information. Going outside and touching the grass actually do wonders lol.

I enjoy that it feels like a bit like the internet of old, when there was little in the way of corporate interests and astroturfing everywhere. It still has that feel of just being a bunch of enthusiasts sharing their hobbies, without some CEO up top trying to figure out how to squeeze money out of the users. There's also the fact that it's small enough that you actually recognize a fair amount of people in the forums.
Not to be a downer on this fine morning, but I think y'all might need to google the significant meaning behind Lawrence Oates' quote "I am just going outside and may be some time."
Damn.

This thread has now become a memorial to a gay British man who loves futunari. What we've come to, baby.
Icarus is Gay?

Wait Icarus media isn't on this site anymore? does anyone know what happened?
It’s not dead, but having one insistent angry customer made Icarus so incredibly salty that they swore off the forum entirely.

Updates will apparently be posted on the discord.

Edit: The whole incident, including the few more level-headed posts, were all deleted. For future people visiting the thread:

1) One very insistent poster accused the developer of being pro-[some controversial group I forgot].
2) The dev became extremely salty (while disagreeing that they support the group), and a back-and-forth with some more level-headed comments ensued.
3) The dev announced (on discord) that they would leave the website completely, and no longer post updates here. (I give it a decent chance that the dev will return…)
Found this,
in the game
thread,

Yea, it looks like you're right. Checking the Patreon for Icarus does seem to show he's alive as well. I'm happy to have misunderstood his sign-off message then. Regardless of not sharing his kinks or sexual preferences, I wouldn't savor his death.

That said, he abused the quote "I am just going outside and may be some time." said by Lawrence Oates before he wandered off into an Antarctic blizzard hoping to save Robert Scott's polar excursion party by removing himself as a hindrance. It's held as an example of classic British stoicism of a bygone era and sometimes cited during a final farewell when demise is imminent. To use the quote when you're ragequitting a flame war is... melodramatic, at least.

So I guess that's something else I love about F95. Watching the drama play out is never boring. The key is trying to stay out of it or at least stay neutral so you can survive the inevitable mod purge.
