saw a screenshot from a game(i cannot remember which one) on a meme site like 7 years ago, decided to check it out which got me to F95
Watched a Lets Play on Youtube from a Lets Player I follow. She was playing Dreams of Desire, more as a Joke than anything else.

It is easy to make an existing game show some lewd stuff which is how I experienced this development. But I almost never found real lewd games explicitly made that way. So i played around with modding things and while doing so found more and more people starting to make actual games at the same time. Sites like LoversLab where getting more and more attention and people actively making real good, working stuff beyond changing some pictures or models. My very first real game i experienced was a chess game, where the pieces started a naked animated fight and banged each other into submission. Was crude graphic wise but quite entertaining (this was back in times of Doom graphics)

I watched a few anime close together and they were about dating sims or mention of them and wanted to play some and during my research I cam across some games from this site I remember hearing about a long time ago. So decided to give it a whirl. Now I'm addicted to AVN's but still only play them for the romance and dating and not the lewds. I do still play my fair share of porn and NTR AVN's from time to time for variety but not my main go to. I stick to mostly monogamous AVN's only make an exception for harem if I really like something about the game.

First games for me were the Kamuo visual novels. Think I had seen one of the thigh job gifs on Reddit and ended up stumbling onto their itch.io page.
I might have had an experience earlier to that, might have messed around with sims 3 mods, wicked whims or something, but I hadn't developed an actual interest in adult games until playing "Aren't Grim Reapers Supposed To Be Scary?".

Funnily enough, Princess Maker 2 is what made me discover that some games could have hentai in them. Not the game per se, but the site where I got my pirate copy from, which was for "addicts to manga, anime and hentai". Later on I moved to flash games and I don't remember how, but I found a hentai forum around 2005 (don't remember the name, but the admin was Deathwing, if memory serves. Something related to 40k) that had a bunch of pirated hentai games (the vast majority were visual novels, so that hasn't changed) but it also had Illusion's games, like Biko 3. "HOLY SHIT BEAUTIFUL 3D GRAPHICS HENTAI YES". Getting that shit to run was a mess, due to AppLocale and Illusion hating filthy gaijin.

My first AVN ever was Melody. The overall theme appealed to me as I'm pretty musically inclined. The final deciding factor was the pink electric guitar Melody could be seen holding in one of the game's promotional images. It's my all-time favourite body shape (now-discontinued Ibanez 540R which, incidentally, was the basis for the Joe Satriani signature). I have since played a lot of games, some very good, some not so good. But Melody is a solid enough game (at least to me) and I still have a soft spot for it.
