Kinda curious what you guys think the next meta fetish/ trope will be, I remember in the early 2010s it was about school girls and random hook ups then late 2010s it was all about incest and harems, then we started seeing trainers go the rise and a plethora of brothel simulator type games, then NTR started to go on the rise but I don't think it became a full meta, now we see a lot of stuff about virtual girlfriends and NTR phones. What is coming next? And did I mess up the order of things.

It's hard to classify porn game eras since practically everything has its niche, the bigger the kinks the bigger the audience.

There's been a gradual increase in Ai and cohabitation games from what i've personally noticed, ai is easy to guess, and cohabitation cause it's a good fantasy on its own plus games like Kaiju princesss and Robolife got pretty good acclaim (desspite them being quite mediocre imo).

A dark horse might be the guro genre, we saw how popular mad island was on here, something you wouldn't normally expect.

With monster girl quest at the cusp of being finished, the monster girl genre is likely going to fall from now on I think.

We might honestly see a revival of the School girl meta, classic harem dating simulators type shit, who knows, predicting where coomers cumshots land is about as consistent as you'd expect, though I'm not well versed in these trends anyways, but it is an interesting topic on its own.

Fetishes, there aren't many in reserve either (in the sense not explored by games). Some kinks are also used because it's practical, typically the harem, it allows you to not complicate your life by making a route per LI (for the Dev), or a save per LI (for the player). Same for example for the student/high school trope, it's practical to have characters who don't have the schedule of an active adult, who are surrounded by singles (because they're young and not yet settled down), all in a festive environment.

Kinda true in some areas, europe especially, rising rape crime for some reason (you can guess why). Though the main point of rape games is indulging in something you would never and could never do in real llife. I can attest as a fan, but if the statistics keeps facing increases as you say then wouldn't that remove the appeal of rape games in the first place.

AI is becoming popular fast. Deepfake, games, chatbots. Soon there will be AI companions(girlfriends/boyfriends)for buying. Considering how many people are disappointed by real relationships, it will happen.

Was there ever a full meta? I know I*cest was very popular around 2018-202x before patreon go full push against it, but even then it was pretty varied.

Enjoyment of erotica and pornography is hardwired to very deep and very dark wells within our psych, so in my opinion they are much less affected to fashions and trends. I don't think incest/harems will ever go away, for example. It's a very basic male fantasy, to spread his seed. NTR perhaps was not known in the west and it caught on, but again, for those enjoying it, for those this fantasy's roots reach down to the dark wells in their psyche, it will never fall out of fashion.

If you don't believe me, check out those porn books published during the 70s-80s (many of them are grade A writing, BTW). It's all in there: rape, incest, harem, bestiality, etc etc. Nothing new. The only relatively new fetish in the west is NTR, but other than that I don't expect to see major shifts in term of fetishes.

I don't want to derail the conversation, but I'll say this, since it's also on topic: our basic human instinct is to assume that since a certain technology has progressed dramatically in the past X years, it's going to continue this trend (and more) in the next X years. If you'd open old Popular Mechanics from the previous century, you'd see countless articles explaining to you how it's inevitable that in the 21st century we'll see flying cars, colonies on the moon, nuclear powered... everything and more and more. Heck, 10 years ago many smart people were absolutely sure blockchain is going to change our life and that learning to drive will soon become obsolete since automatic cars will be much better drivers than us. Well... none of what I wrote happened. Technology did not live up to the hype.

My point is: AI now might be as good as it gets for many years to come. I'm not sure it's going to be much better soon, perhaps decreasingly small improvements in quality.
