Shitpostatus is a corruption of the phrase "Shitpost status" which itself comes from the Portuguese "Shitpost para status" (tl: Status shitpost).
Basically, it originated as a meme in Brazilian/Portuguese-speaking social media sites where people would post stupid or nonsensical videos as a status update to social media (generally WhatsApp).
This later spread as a concept to English speakers where it became a meme to post short videos in general, regardless of what site. These videos usually have an eye-catching thumbnail on YouTube (anime or cropped porn) to get people to click on them.
