What tags do you search for or exclude most often? Or do you at all?

Include: female protagonist

Exclude: male protagonist
That way you're also excluding female protagonist games, because if you exclude male protagonist you exclude every game with that tag, including those who have both tags because you can pick the protagonist's genre and those games where you mostly play as a female but ocassionaly as a male once in a blue moon.

Include: Pregnancy and sometimes Female Protagonist

I don't have any firm exclude tags but I'll be pretty skeptical about games that include certain tags.

Pretty much nothing honestly. Sometimes wanting raw debauchery I tack on the Japanese tag, but other than that I find that a lot of games have rather liberal views on what said tags signify. Tacking on corruption for example as a tag gets rid of a significant portion of true corruption games (often lumped in the harem tag instead), while inviting a hell of a lot of VN's that have lewd/prude choices as their driving "corruption" mechanic. Other than that, recent updates and anything that looks like it knows how to hold it's water.

Tags I avoid the most:
1. Female protagonist. - I just need my MC to be male, can't help it.
2. NTR - I don't mind as long as it's optional.
3. Female domination. - I'm fine with some 'light' domination, but when it gets rough or is a main focus of a game, I'm out.

Things I include most often (to avoid all the others from their categories):
1. Engine: Ren'Py - It's just so convenient. Easy to use, mod etc. I've got so used to it that it become really hard to pick up something using Unity, or even worse, RPGM.
2. Status: Completed - At some point, we're all getting frustrated with these games being abandoned or with their long-ass waiting for the next update.

I don't search by tags, i scan every game thread, manually.
Thus, page by page, i scanned every game thread on F95.
Took me like a week of dedicated grind or so. But i got some nice bookmarks from that dig. :coffee:

As for what i prefer to ignore:
Kinetic Novels - Because i like to be an active part of the story instead of a passive observer.
Ntr - Because i don't really care about cucking or being cucked.
Abandoned - Self explanatory.
Puzzle - I hate puzzles.
Side scroller - I hate side scrollers.
All RAGS games - I don't dig these.
And some incest games because there are too many of those in the herd, i look for the unique sheep to keep. :giggle::coffee:

Incest, corruption, mind control, rape, loli, male protaganist, male dom, vaginal sex.

I really wish we got a different kind of mind control tag.
The mind control in most games arent even mind control.
There just slutification.
Regarding that matter of mind control. When I this use tag I expect to be one doing the mind controlling, but it is also used if Mind Control is used by somebody else, like in MIST (great game btw). Also Sometimes it just one of minor subplots instead of main theme as I always hope. So you can guess what is my default include :p
My usual exclude: Loli. Not to kink shame, I just like bigger boobs.

Not gonna lie, I'm picky so I tend to exclude a lot of tags sometimes but not all the time.

Sometimes excluded tags:
Gay - Since there isn't a bisexual tag, I exclude this often. Sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I don't.
Furry - Sometimes I don't mind it but most times I can't get behind the idea of nailing a cat or a dog lady. Plus the "arf arf" vocalizations are fucking annoying and cringe.
Corruption - It depends on how it's done. If it's in combination with mind control or blackmail, I want nothing to do with it. However if it's a slow sort of "He doesn't treat you right" or just "accidentally" showing the dick, it's hot to me.
Lesbian - Just like above, it depends on the situation. If it's done in a female domination type of way with an overly masculine female (the trans personal trainer in Good Girl Gone Bad as an example) then absolutely not. If it's part of a threesome or just some fun between two female friends then I'm cool with it.
NTR - Once again, it depends. If it's a multiple protagonist game (female and male protags) then yes. I enjoy making the choices to guide the female protag to cheat on her significant other. If it's male protag only, then I usually skip it.
Blacklisted tags:
Real Porn - I can NOT get into any part of real porn games. I feel like it's plagiarism on the dev's part and it doesn't make any sense at all to me. If I wanted to fap to pornstars, I'd go to pornhub.
Rape - I feel like I really don't need to explain myself here but I will. Not even in my fantasies is it okay to force myself upon someone that is incapacitated or unwilling. It's disgusting in my opinion.
Sleep Sex - I blacklist this for the same reasons as above.
Text Based - I'm a visual person. I enjoy good CG to accompany a story.
Kinetic Novel - I enjoy making the choices that lead to the outcome of a game. I don't really enjoy going along on a journey the dev has already predetermined.

Tags I mostly look for:
Footjob - I have a huge foot fetish and a good footjob scene is hard to come across (The best I've seen so far is between the m/s in Straitened Times)
Incest - It's more taboo thus making it hotter to me. No part of me would entertain the idea IRL but in games, why the fuck not?
Cheating - I have a cheating kink as well. Mainly in Female Protagonist games because almost every Male Protag game has cheating (it may not be tagged but it's usually there).

I'm certain I'm missing a bunch of tags from all categories but I think I've added enough to get the gist of the sort of games I enjoy and ones I despise.

I've thought of excluding vaginal sex and trans/futa tags, given that most of the games with those tags have minimal gay content. But that is not always true and sometimes I find really good games with these tags, so I chose to not exclude them.
Funny note. This was written back on April, and now, if I excluded futa/trans or vaginal tags, I wouldn't be able to find MY game.

Weird how things change in a short period of time.

Most people figure out after a while that excluding tags is NEVER a good idea.

There are several games that barely have any of the tagged content or it is completely optional. For instance sometimes a completely vanilla game has a single bad ending which is enough for the "rape" tag to be added even if such content is found nowhere else in the game.

Only time I exclude tags is for momentary searches when trying to find a specific style of game, for instance when I'm looking for 2D stuff I exclude 3D and vice versa.

And that, my friend, is the main flaw of the tagging system here in F95 Zone. Half of the tags I have on my game would go away if it were like itch.io where you list only major content.

Right now, I'm not excluding any tags (even loli/shota) just because I'm too lazy to add them to the exclude list every single time. I know, bookmarks exists, and I'm also too lazy to look for it.

In my opinion this is not a flaw but a feature. Because when I'm looking for games with a tag I don't mind playing something that only has one scene of that content as long as that content is present.

For instance when looking for footjob/big boobs you don't assume that the entire game is going to be about footjobs or big boobs, but that there will be at least one footjob scene and that at least one character will have massive jugs...

As long as there is at least one scene I don't mind checking the game out and I have found many interesting games like that, sometimes you download a game because of the lactation tag but stay because of something else entirely.

The only tag I search for is HTML.
Otherwise, I mostly manually check for tags in searches because a ton of tags are not predictive of how the game will be.

This is better illustrated with the 'gay' tag. A ton of games have a choice between male or female protagonist, and aside from exclusively gay games, I have yet to see forced gay sex in a game that also features straight content.

Filtering that tag out would mean that I could miss quite a decent number of games that have really neat stories and content that I would enjoy.

That being said, I still generally exclude NTR from my searches.

I see a lot of people saying this, but as far as I can tell that is the exception rather than the rule. Tags seem to be left to the OP's discretion and they tend to use them more as genres than an exhaustive list.

Well you probably have not searched for specific tags often, because every tag has several games where that content is very minor.

Pregnancy is a good example, because it usually means the game has a pregnancy ending. Even if the entire game has no pregnancy content at all until you finish it.

Also the op has no power over tags, and if they aren't following the rules they lose ownership of the thread, anyone can report and tags are fixed by uploaders/mods.

I am not denying that there are games that have tags with only a minor amount of relevant content. Just that that is the exception. Most of the time, if a tag is a minority of the content it tends to not get applied.

Well many tags are not applied but usually because noone reported them.

Even uploaders often don't play the stuff they upload so lots of tags go unchecked until someone else actually finds that content and reports it.

I never got a tag request denied because of a reason like "only one scene is not enough for the tag" so I doubt this is a thing.
