My genesis 9 characters crotch area is completely fucked out of the box? It literally can't be this bad out of the box when genesis 8 and 8.1 almost always work perfectly? in the picture is a character and next to it the base genesis 9 both having absolutely horrible crotch deformations.

it really feels like i am missing a complete genesis 9 female package or something.. in the currently used parametres there is also nothing special just base jcms and morphs.

anyone have any idea why my genesis 9 crotch area is completely fucked? i have tried stuff like gen gap etc as a temporary fix but it literally can't be this bad i am missing something. just can't figure out what.

anyone got the genesis 9 to have working acceptable crotch area on female characters?

It's going to be a bad morph or JCM affecting it.

standard troubleshooting process:
- enable "show hidden parameters"
- select the figure
- scroll through to find suspicious lookup morphs (often with not-intended-for-humans names) set to non-zero values.
- try adjusting those sliders and see if it affects the figure

To totally remove you would need to track down the file(s) responsible for the bad morph and delete them. or follow up with the source of the morph package for an updated version without the bugs (which is harder if you pirated it).

If you can find the .duf file for the morph, you can open it in NPP and change the number 1 to 0 and then save it. But it's usually just easier to uninstall and forget about it lol.

dreadpool_val please, I would like to know what number?
It's been a minute since I've done it, so I could be misremembering a step, but it's basically:

Find Morph/.dsf file (\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\) > Decompress (if needed) > Find this in editor of choice:

Code:
"modifier_library" : [
        {
            "channel" : {
                "id" : "value",
                "type" : "float",
                "name" : "Value",
                "label" : "Shitty Rogue Morph",
                "auto_follow" : true,
                "value" : 1,
                "min" : 0,
                "max" : 1,
                "clamped" : true,
                "display_as_percent" : true,
                "step_size" : 0.01
            },
Note the "value" (not "Value") has a 1 already. This is telling Daz that the morph should be loaded applied as a default JCM would be and is thus applied to all models upon loading. Change that "1" to "0" and save. This should work with all generations of models, but haven't had to do it with G9 yet.

There's also a to help track down rogue morphs (hidden or otherwise), but can't speak to how well it works as I've never used it.

You have no idea how hard this issue is fucking me in the ass. I have already tried everything i disconnected my full content library and removed it from the content manager. made a new one and set it up as the only content folder daz is using and downloaded genesis 9 starter essentials to a full clean new content folder AND THE MOTHERFUCKING ISSUE STILL EXISTS.

y u no work.

my next stop is backing up my full daz3d program completely. uninstalling daz3d, reinstalling it from scratch and downloading only base assets from scratch from DIM and i am still convinced the issue will still persist by some miracle.

at this point i am wondering if genesis 9 ever worked to begin with for anyone?

all this time genesis 8 and 8.1 has had no issue at all from the same install.

if i could downgrade my genesis 9 to genesis 8 i would do it instantly.

From what I understand, it’s a common Genesis 9 issue. I’ve never used Genesis 9 myself, I’m just talking based on what I’ve seen over the past few months. Genesis 9 is only good if you want close up shots of a character’s face, or people wearing clothes... If you want naked bodies and weird poses, the years behind Genesis 8 and all its direct and indirect possibilities still leave Genesis 9 many years away from being even decent. In other words, I’d never switch to Genesis 9, not even if they paid me to do it.

unfortunately a lot of the models i use only exist as genesis 9. i wonder if there is a backwards translation from gen 9 to gen 8 :/

I've been seeing a lot of people convert Gen 9 models to 8.1 for some of the same issues mentioned in this thread.

Personally, I love the eyes and the textures of Gen 9, but that's really where the compliments stop.

I briefly looked in to it because just having consistency in general is already worth it but did not find an established backwards translation pipeline for gen 9 to gen 8 and thought the issues gen 9 has are solvable but now that i have actually had to deal with them there doesn't seem to be any solution except take them to blender and actually sculp your own jcms for the groin area.

might have to look again for the backwards translation option.

There's nothing wrong with Gen 9 characters... at least all the ones I have used. I have one project that is all G8 and the other is all G9. The only Gen I really don't like much is G8.1, because it was sort of the red-headed-stepchild that DAZ made to bridge the gap between 8 and 9, and many of it's sliders are totally different than the other gens, making it a PITA to pose fast.

Master Bunny ,

I just ran a test to see if I could duplicate your problem and this shows a stock June 9. I didn't have that same pose you used so I picked another extreme bend one. I left these as the raw PNG's as well.

So, this first render is June 9 with the DAZ anatomical gens installed and the mats from June 9 (for the gens). It has some minor issues with the out-of-limits bend but not like your sample images in your OP. And There are some morphs that affect that are, called GPV_Leg Widen 1_Right, 1_Left, 3_Right and 3_Right that have a default values of 0, 12 or 12.5%, which is where they are in this render.

The second render is when i dialed those morphs up to 100. Made the pussy area pudgier but not much else.

This third render, I removed the DAZ gens and applied the New Genitalia for Genesis 9 by 3feetwolf, since they look better than GP, IMO. This is just the default mats and settings and it still looks decent.

So, I think you have some rogue morph somewhere. If all else fails, completely uninstall DAZ and re-install and re-import your assets. Don't know what else to tell ya?

Yeah, the "normal" look of Genesis 9 compared to the normal look of Genesis 8... I don’t know how people use Genesis 9 and call it normal... guess it’s a matter of taste xD

Gens look like shit on every generation of Daz models. That probably won't change until someone who's actually good at what they do decides to make one. Meipe is good enough, but I question if the guy/gal has ever seen dick or pussy.

Genesis 9 is an objective improvement on previous generations. Biggest of all is that they're simply cheaper to use, funnier is that G9 plays way nicer with Blender than it does Daz.

I am not saying gen 8 looks perfect but i can get usable results with it. gen 9 female has a bulge like alien suddenly forgot where the chest is. i have to do so much stuff like using gen gap etc. to even get close to passable results and even then it is BARELY usable and takes a lot of time.

On top of that Daz3d doesn't even have bare bones sculpting so you could just smoothe in the bulge on base mesh level (no, meshgrabber will not do.) and even if it did it would again be really time expensive way to fix something that should work out of the box.

It's not even the genitalia. the geometrical BULGE when genesis 9 base female is bending over is already wildly unusable in it's basic state whereas with genesis 8 you get usable results out of the box.
