What to do when updating my game

I am currently working on the next chapter of my little game and am unsure on how to upload it once ready.
If I understood correctly, I am supposed to update the game thread using the edit function made available to me.
I found this guide on the forum:

  • Do not remove all the links to the update.
A thread in the game section MUST have at least a link to the last update.
  • As game author you don't have the obligation to provide alternate host.
Therefore, once you've updated the thread click on the "report" button, saying that it's an update. A uploader should then take care of the alternate host.
  • Clean the links.
If there's a Android and/or compressed version made by a third person, the links will be obsolete, because regarding the previous version. Therefore, remove the links, but keep their text. For this, click on the link, and choose the button on the right.

In conclusion, should I just attach the file with the new game and then the mods will update the links or do I have to update the links myself? If yes, how?

Thanks everyone in advance.

Your entire update of your game is less than 10 MB? because that is the file size limit for attachments in the thread.
If it is, then yes - attach it to a new post in the game thread.
If no, upload it to a file hosting server and copy/paste the link to a new post in the game thread.

When the new post is in the thread, report it using the REPORT button in the lower left corner of that post and select the correct radio button.

Hmm, since he own the thread, I'm not sure that creating a new post is the best approach.
Personally I would edit the thread opening, putting the actual links under "Version [previous version]", add one link to the new update, without forgetting to update the rest of the thread and its title. Then report the said thread opening, as you explained, and let an uploader do his job for the mirrors.

Side note: The link will all be changed by the uploader, therefore you don't need to provide mirrors, one link is enough.
