I'd argue there's only a handful of games with good, immersive stories. The rest is just some teen rom-com, soap opera shit or at least have aesthetically appealing love interests.
At this point, I'd rather not waste my time with the latter and just focus on the few with good stories. In that case, I'm actually okay with the ones who can't write for shit just producing slop to fap to. Doesn't waste their time, doesn't waste my time. Everyone wins.
Also a lot of AI stuff these days. Which just made it easier for random people to pump out content.
Another interesting point to make is that those story-driven games really started to explode during the pandemic when everyone had the time to work on them or play them. Before then, most of it really was just "Bobby lives in his house with his landlady and landlady's daughters." and other kinds of stuff of that nature. I think most people really need to have some kind of "passion" if they want to make an "adult" game. It just turns out that only a small percentage of those people can actually write.
