What’s the “Breaking Bad” of H-Games?

What’s the equivalent of Breaking Bad in the H-game world? I mean the absolute best of the best. A game that anyone (not just people into adult content) could play and still call a masterpiece. Is there an H-game out there that reaches that level of storytelling, characters, or overall quality?

Asking for something anyone could enjoy is a very tall order, let alone for the low standards of ero-gaming, but this one appeals to a broad audience with its various routes, modern setting and actually showing the males in full during scenes (and they're not all ugly bastards, and there's a variety of them).

It's funny that I came across this thread right now, because I spent a big part of my week thinking about this

For regular games, we have great sagas like Mario, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Dark Souls, GTA, Red Dead, The Last of Us... all of which have produced true masterpieces over the years. And by masterpieces, I mean a "perfect" work of entertainment that will be remembered for generations

But for h-games, it feels like we don't really have anything like that

We only have good games, but none that could truly be considered a masterpiece. I believe that due to the lack of professionalism, developers' inexperience, and lack of investment, every game ends up having some flaw, whether it's in the story, bad dialogues, weak gameplay mechanics, bugs, lack of immersion, and so on

But this is probably something common in the +18 market and it will never change. People aren't here looking for masterpieces. They're here looking for strong sexual content, and everything else is just a bonus

I won't lie, my adult dream is to see an h-game in the style of The Witcher 3

I don't want to break your illusions, but the fact that you don't name Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Half Life demonstrate that, no, those games will not be remembered for generations.

I think, the biggest problem is actually the financial basis lewd-game-developers have to create a game. Big studios employ partly hundreds of people for years to create AAA-games. That's where you can't compete with as an ambitious lewd-game developer with some Patreon-Funding.

A game in development, that I like a lot, where you see that the dev puts lots of thoughts in creating interesting characters with unique personality and story-development is definitely "the Headmaster" from Altosandherdone:

If you excuse my intrusion, I believe there is a difference between memory and history that will play an heavy role into the remembrance of videogame. Same as the history of cinema there are a few works that will be remembered by everyone and others only known by historians as influential or iconic in their period. (For example Star wars on one hand and Das kabinett des doktor caligari on the other). With videogames is the same thing, one famous (and profitable) game will keep living in everyone’s memory as a legend, like Minecraft, others like Myst
even as important and influential will be remembered as a relic of a bygone age.
The problem with videogames is that per se they are a bizarre media living in the age of information where countless of data and new games are coming out at a pace considered impossible even 20 years ago.

Also to answer OP’s question, I don’t know what could be considered a BB of h games since F95 is quite arbitrary, there are games of undisputed quality. But I believe profitable and famous games like Badik or Summertime saga were some of the most influential around here, in the landscape of devs following a golden goose they created a point of reference.
Well, Last of Us might be remembered. Not for being good, but as an example of god awful sequels.
Or Druckmann as a much hated/controversial developer, but Tlou is now more notorious for the controversies than the actual game, that may give it more years to be remembered

I just gave a few examples, brother. Many other games will be remembered for generations

And yeah, the low investment really gets in the way, but I don't know if it's the biggest factor, since several indie games from other genres (with minimal investment) are better than the h-games we have

And it's funny that people were already talking about this 7 years ago, mentioning AAA h-games, but nothing has come out so far

breaking bad? You want a game with like 200 episodes?
...
well, maybe The Last Sovereign? It is loooooooooooong and by the end of it maybe 1/4 of content is superfluous ... but still good.

Being a DIK/Acting Lessons are probably the closest. Your Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul of the space if you will.

The quality is undeniable, the production values are high, there is a lot of content and the appeal is very broad for an adult game.

Ill do four options, two are my top games and the third its four I could "almost" recommend anyone.

If you like VN-like with some interaction (combat), for me it was Monster Girl Quest. Nice story and at some points you keep playing not because of sexual stuff but because the things themself are interesting.

On the other hand, for me, Artificial Academy 2 (if you add AAUnlimited, it only gets better) was peak in H games. You get to make a full classroom of characters and get to play as any of them, with mechanics like personality traits that makes character reactions unique. Shame Illusion never did AA3 and that Koikatsu ended up being more of a scene framework.

The one I can recommend to almost anyone (but it includes darker themes) is, Demon Roots. If you like RPG with good story, this was for me. The main drawback of Demon Roots is that sexual content is isolated on some areas of the game only.

I also like lots of other games but I wouldnt be able to recommend them (i.e. I LOVE Karryns Prison and is probably the best game centered on sexual stuff, but i find it too vanilla)
