You made your character and then took control of some kind of business or something and had workers that you would place in buildings. And this middle location on the map was some kind of town square and there were either fights or some kind of protestors there all the time. I think you also could send workers away on longer missions. It was like a timed resource gathering thing I think, I cant completely remember.
