It's true to a degree. You still need to also look like you take care of yourself, know how to dress, and a lot of other factors too. Not many people want a basement dwelling fixer upper. Character is a lot but looks are the first thing noticed if you are going in blindly.

I do not like "ugly bastard" type games because of how absolutely pervasive the concept of "Beautiful woman raped by ugly bastard" has become in regards to every single other kink on the planet.

Every. Single. Time.

And I get it, I do, I want to see my kinks everywhere. But it feels like you can't find games with corruption, transformation, humiliation, monster sex, or noncon without an ugly bastard being front and center. And I know that these kinks are also not universally appealing to everyone else,.

On top of that, I'm really just not all that into humiliation derived from sexual situations. It sounds insane, I know, but to think that every single sexual encounter a character has is humiliating because of the other person's appearance, social status, or relationship to the heroine is just absolutely tedious.

Sorry for being a redditor but i do see games with monsters, orcs, goblins, tentacles, etc so saying it happens every time is a bit unreasonable I think. I suppose there might be an ugly bastard sprinkled in between the orcs and goblins but you know that's just how you get more customers. Sometimes it'll even feel like I can't play a little Japanese porn game without there being tentacles slimes and whatnot. Have you checked out stuff like 3d animation? I get a lot of hate for the UB thing, and if I was making purely a financial decision, I would not have chosen such a specific kink for my game. If I had a good looking male MC I think my game would be much more popular.

I think it's totally fine to like or dislike a genre. But if it's not your thing, there's no need to go after the creator. I've come across plenty of works with cool stories or great art in genres I don't personally enjoy, and I get that it's the creator's vision, I respect that. It's just not for me, so I move on.

Completely agree with you. Feels like people usually understand kinkshaming is silly but for things like ugly bastards they somehow don't apply it. A certain crowd especially feels compelled to come out of the woodwork to voice their dislike of it. Don't have to look further than this thread even. Respecting a creators vision is still alien to many people unfortunately
