So I discovered this awesome website in the beginning of summer 2018 and till now I can say that I played nearly 50 games ...
I would say that I aim for games that are frequently updated and storywise/art is appealing and is close to completeness too
Therefore, my top 5 would be :
Milfy City, Summertime Saga, Man of the House, Filf, Love and submission

no order in them cuz I can't decide XD

Tough question to answer, cause I like different games for different reasons. I often switch games, depending on my mood at that time. However, I guess I could split it into a couple of catagories.

Favourite girl: Redemption for Jessika - I like Jessika. No, cancel that, I freaking LOVE Jessika. She is beautiful, funny, strong, vulnerable and a little sex kitten, all in one package.

Impregnation: Haramase Simulator - Not much to say. One of my Fetishes is impregnation and this game is a no-brainer for that particular kink.

Story: Dreaming of Dana - The story in this game is on the more realistic side of things, even if it feels a bit odd at times. I must also say that I enjoy Dana's character very much, almost as much as Jessika. This game also introduces Andrea, who is freaking adorable and is one of the only females in adult games, that I want to hug, more than fuck.

A quick thrill: Milfy City - Whenever I want a quick rush, I usually go to MC. The characters are well designed and sexy as hell and the sexy scenes are very well made. I enjoy Caroline as the rare "nice" older sister and Linda as the only mother I can recall, who is the first to make a move on her own son.

When all else fails: Living with temptation - Cause Lisa is a fucking sexy little minx.

*Edit. I really wanted to include Acting Lessons for story, but the latest couple of updates has really hampered my excitement for the game. Shame, cause it was shaping up to be awesome as hell.

Good Girl Gone Bad.
I really love the fact that the choices you make change the story so much.
It's the game which has the most freedom, although it's not a sandbox game.
Most games force you in a certain direction, but this game doesn't at all.

Our Fate.
I just really like the story as well as the main girl.

I do have one problem with GGGB. It relates morality with personality a little too much. If you're a slut you're also a bitch if you're nice you're also not having a lot of sex.

Similar games that give you a ton of freedom like that can be found in Coceter Chronicles and Project SAGE, which have less connection between morality and sexuality. Tabitha can be a bitch to people who get in her way, like the bully kid in the human world who, if you have the right skill levels, she literally stomps on his balls and grinds her heel into, and to her half brother when he tries to blackmail her, she can be pretty harsh. But she doesn't have to be. The MC in Project SAGE is a little less fleshed out so far, but what I like here is that the game differentiates between whether your character is slutty on purpose or because she's dumb. It alllows you to play a game that is similar to all those horrible Retard in Lechertown games, but wherein your MC isn't a complete idiot when it comes to sex. Also, the guy's aren't nearly as bad.

To OP, Coceter Chronicles, which I mentioned above, is far and above my favorite game. I really like the fantasy setting and world building that has been done, I think it's honestly a little too good to be porn. But, that doesn't stop it from having sex almost quite literally beyond ever corner.

Depraved Awakening is probably #2, it's just the best game out there in terms of quality and story.

Parental Love and Babysitter probably share my #3 spot. With these two they're both very similar games but done in different ways. In both you're an older father figure starting up a relationship with a young girl (Dad in one, Uncle in the other) and both use a similar points tracking system to determine your route and what scenes you can get. However, Parental Love usually leaves me in stitches laughting at its fun and sometimes absurd comedy, whereas Babysitter usually leaves me thinking, about characters, about relationships, about the mechanics of hiding an incestuous relationship, etc.

Harem Hotel is probably my #4. It's a life sim, like most of your top 5, but done in a way that makes it feel completely without grind (no cheats necessary) and that gives you a cast of interesting characters all of whom you get to turn into your submissive exhibitionist cock hungry sluts. I think part of what makes me love this game so much is the S&M focus, but it also appeals to me as an anime fan, because the characters are very much written in a style that anime fans will recognize.

And for a #5 slot... Probably Long Live the Princess. This game is also a life sim, but unlike most it has an actual plot. Most are just "Gotta Fuck-Em-All" and that's all there is to them. If you're lucky you'll get some sort of actual story to invest in with each character, but nothing overarching. Long Live the Princess does both. You get interesting character interactions and stories to go with each individual girl, as well as an overarching plot and story about a young nobody born with power who is being tasked with rooting out an evil that seeks to kill the princess when she arrives in your town for her coronation as queen.

Huh, honestly, I don't think I can make a top 5 list. Mostly because most the games I like are unfinished and can always decide to try and pull an Acting Lessons on me. Considering I am as interested in female protagonists and RPGM games as much as having a root canal done... anyhow, at no particular order (since comparing a romance VN to a sandbox harem game is idiotic) and probably forgetting at least a few:

The Babysitter
Hands down the best game of the type so far. It had some rocky parts at the start (and has no problem aknowlaging them), but the story and characters are good. It has much more options than most games and actually made me care about the main girl and feel bad, when pushing her in to more corrupted routes. The game managed to make me bond with her so well, I refuse to play some of the bad routes (not because of NTR and shit, because I don't want her to go there). I just hope it will manage to keep up the quality.

Man of the House
I had the pleasure to be introduced to the game with the last update. And I strongly urge people who din't like it to give it another shot. Even if I didn't like the characters (and I do and am quite stubborn in my interpretation, that the MC did no real seducing, corrupting or anything to the main ones, he just enabled them to do it to him) I would still give it a honorable place, just because the dev was willing to go back and re-write close to the whole code of the game, to fix a bunch of the unreliable and buggy stuff. It also has a lot of content, compared to other games.

Our fate
The Babysitter lite in a way. Starts with a really interesting story premise and runs with it. Some really unusual and interesting characters to be found, but a really slow burner. Like, really slow. It kind of makes it better on the romance side of things and avoids the blue balls problem slow burners have with starting you with a girlfriend (who desperately needs more content). The story is solid. The characters are interesting and (mostly) believable. For now the game hasn't done the mistake @DarthSeduction talks about, leaving you to be a dominant bastard in bed AND a caring and loving guy out of it (or the other way around). More games should do that.

Love and Submission
Good, solid game with enough story and plot, to make me not really care about the slow burn. Has some problems, but most of them come from it being in pretty early stages, content-wise. Has interesting characters, curious plot with some deeper and darker possibilities in it, but never loses it's basic bright nature.

Depraved Awakening
Honestly, probably the best product at the moment. One of the few story based games, that knows where it wants to go and never stops or strays from the path. A really good film noir style of game. Solid characters, solid story with both enough mystery and sex to be both a good game and a good adult game. The tone is dark and it may end up in a really dark place, but kind of makes me think the dev won't strip the players agency about it.

A spell for All
It's still one of my favorite games. While the story suffers here and there and not all characters are that interesting and it's limited by the nature of it using real-life models (a full-blown CGI re-make would be epic)... it's a solid game with plenty of content. I also love how the development process works - outsourcing characters avoids one of the bigger problems with characterization games with big cast have, making most of them unique and interesting in at least some ways. I just like it and spent way too much time playing it, so I put it here.

Honorable mentions:
Those are games, that needed something more or fucked up horribly at some point, but are still not that bad.

Dreams of Desire
It's an interesting story with characters that are (mostly) not boring. Sadly it feels rushed in the final episodes, has some gameplay problems and some of the most cringe inducing end game content I could think of. After the "Fuck machines", the game jumped the shark.

Dreaming of Dana
Very good game, but honestly some of the character development at points felt... strange. As a whole it's a good product, that knows where it wants to go from the start. But by primary playing it safe it ends up being just good.

Lab Rats 1.0
It depends way too much on RNG to be a good game and the characters are there to be fucked. Gladly fucking those characters is decent and works well. A decent harem game. Could have benefited from both more story and more characterization.

Dating my Daughter
It's an interesting game. I like it, even if most people here seem to not have a high opinion abut it. I feel it has layed out some pretty big problems for it's own good in the first part. Established a lot of the tropes and cliches in the genre. It's still solid and while has some obvious dissonance with ages and models and behaviour (basically D and friends should be around 14 to make any kind of sense, but D does not look 14) it's decent. Will see where it ends.

I guess you are right, although it doesn't bother me personally. And there are also a couple of middle paths where you do have fun but don't go overboard. Those paths are the ones I like the best.

Coceter Chronicles is indeed also a very good one with lot's of options.
Although I do think that, given the style of the game, RPGM is a good choice overall, it kind of makes it difficult to try other paths.

Edited to add: because of the setting, GGGB is more realistic (obviously) and therefore it's easier to relate to the MC.
On the other hand, Coceter does a truly excellent job of creating a believable fantasy world which is not of less quality as one could find in a (printed) fantasy novel.

My absolute fave's right now are the Majikoi series. I love those stories and one of very few Japanese VN's with a great male protag that doesn't piss me off.

After that it's mainly RPG's I play. Renryuu Ascension, Roundscape Adorevia, Desecration of Wings, Daughter of Essence and Last Sovereign.

There are more but listing them would spam the thread.

My favourite adult VN as of right now is Depraved Awakening which has a great story, characters and renders.
As for non-adult one's, then that would be Clannad.

I always find myself returning to Slave Lords of the Galaxy - it might be a bit dated now, but it's still hot as fuck

Dating my Daughter, not even close. It was one of the first VNs I played and I still love it.
