I had no idea this had a steam release with improved graphics, I'm hoping the Season 1 re-write is still being worked on.

Honestly, this mod has barely progressed since the last time I wrote here. I've had little to no motivation to do nearly anything for most of the year thus far. I apologise for how long this is taking immensely.
Also, as a side note, my discord server is effectively in hibernation. I rarely look at it due to it having no activity and the fact that I've had nothing to post in it, granted the two are linked with activity, realistically only getting generated if I were to post things, but yeah. I'll try my best to at least get what has already been rewritten out for the steam release before Christmas. I hope to be able to get it out within the next month if my extremely lacking motivation allows me to, but no promises there.
Last little bit, due to my lack of motivation, and therefore progress and activity within it, I have indefinitely paused invites to my discord server until I get what I said above done and released.
It's understandable bud. Burnout happens. It's not like anyone here is paying you to do this. lol
Hope you're doing better and thanks for all the work you've already put in for deviants like me.

I'm becoming convinced that this dev hates me, will have to start from scratch... again. I will try my best to get it out for Christmas, despite the massive setback; however, I give absolutely no promises that timeframe will actually be managed.

If it gives you any more motivation, I think you're doing a great service to this VN. Where the Heart Is, is a great game that Cheeky wasn't brave enough to turn real. And to be honest, i don't blame him, but from what little I read of the Non-Incest version, he did his best to make it hard for people to write in Incest. Like, he went out of his way to do it. The fact that you've done it is amazing!

Yeah it is very weird. He took a very incest VN setup and made it non incest. Other games like Photo Hunt did that but they make it so one simple patch brings the intended version.

Agreed. I'll happily wait for the mod to be updated before trying this one out. Also, totally agreed with what Omniman said above, this type of setup is so obviously incest, but changed to something non-incest b/c of idiotic patreon rules. Granted, "mother's best friend" is a lot better than "landlady", but still...
I don't know, I'd argue Mother's Best Friend is worse cause at least "Landlady" it's clear they are substitutes. It's such a bad reason, that there can only be one reason, avoiding Incest. With Mother's Best Friend Cheeky tries to explain away relations of Incest and that's why people in the thread say things like "This game was never meant to have Incest" because of the loyalty and plausible deniability. With Landlady you can't really excuse it.
I've already written a response to your comment, but i want to say one more thing.
I've also had a hard time in the last year and a half when it comes to motivation for things. But I've been making steps to get better. This past year has seen me lose contact to my development partner for basically most of the year and I don't see any end in sight unfortunately. That said, I've found some side projects that I've been working on and one of them is pretty promising.
Right now I'm working on the scripting of the scenes of a new unreleased game, basically adding dialogues and making the story come to life with all the renders basically done from my development partner. I've also been learning to edit images, still VERY green on this front, and I've also decided to start learning Daz and HS2 (for the aforementioned project) in the next year.
This is gonna be a huge undertaking that'll take countless hours, days, weeks, and months to get even a little good at. That said, the reason I'm responding to your message again is because I want to join you in your Christmas/End of the Year challenge for my scripting.
I don't expect EVERYTHING to be finished, but I do want to get the bulk of it (pre-editing) done before the end of the year. I want you to not be alone on this road, so I'm joining in solidarity and as a way to motivate myself

That's because this game did originally start out as an incest story. CheekyGimp removed incest after the panic years ago when Patreon started cracking down on VN creators that advertised directly or promoted games with incest.
Unfortunately CheekyGimp (or staff?) deleted his post so I'm guessing we'll never get the official "F**-You Patreon version", but at least there are dedicated modders like Zeroniixa to still make it possible.

That's exactly what CG did. After Patreon went banging on his door, he wrote out incest (originally just with dialogue swaps from what I remember) to save his income, which is fair enough. He also planned to have an incest version once the game was finished, which, as VonRaschke has said before, he deemed the "Fuck You Patreon" version. Somewhere down the line, CG seemingly drank the same Mastercard/Visa prude potion that Patreon was forced to drink and decided that he was gonna re-write what he had already made in such a way that it would be a massive pain in the arse to write incest back into the game and constantly perpetuate the bullshit tagline that is "WTHI was never intended to have incest from the start" whenever anyone asked for a patch from there on.
I very highly doubt it, especially with the way he and his team constantly perpetuate the utter bullshit that is "WTHI was never intended to have incest from the start".
