If these games strived to be realistic, hetero stories would often finish with the MC not getting laid, going on a late-night internet rant claiming it's because they lack enough money or them not being psychos, instead of blaming their shitty personality and looks, or, in the best case, getting an average- looking girl to share an unexciting life with that would enrage subscribers because of her plain looks.
In harem games, the protagonist would be a Tinder fuckboy leading on and shattering the dreams of a dozen chubby women with his unsatisfiying sex and emotional unavailability, all while complaining none of them are as hot as he deserves.
The female games would consist of "tower defense" where the female MC would be permanently under siege, surrounded by hordes of entitled under-average or merely average men that try to erode her barriers with insistence, calling her names for not giving in, only for her to open the gates and suffer devastating loses at the hands of a player. You would have to play route after route to unlock " the hubby", a guy that's nowhere near her ideal, but it's just " good enough" for her to settle with, though she will internally resent the poor fellow after a while because she still believes she sold herself short.
The gay games would consist on a series of meaningless one-night- stands, seedy clubs, and stupid festivals full of empty-headed bearded bodybuilder Ken-doll-clones and bitchy bottoms that would sell their moms to have a shot at your bf, ultramachos critizicing the MC for not being manly/masculine enough and giving the community a bad name by being "too flamboyant", and existencial dread as you try to balance mc's strong morals with meeting the current meat-market demands. He gets older and more bitter by the day in a subculture that idolizes and lusts after youth, and struggles to find a partner that is both physically acceptable and a reliable, willing-to-commit person. (I sometimes think whoever gave us the "gay" name was playing a cruel joke)
