Which drawing looks better?

Here is a pikachu I have drawn some time ago:



and one that i have drawn recently:


It is basically a redrawn version but with outlining.

I personally prefer the first one without outlining but I would like to hear your opinion as well!

Hard to say. I personally prefer the outline picture, but I'm not sure if it's because of the outline or the fact that it has better coloration and contrast creating more definition.

the shading on the 2nd is a lot nicer, but i'd try it without the outline and compare that.

I actually like the outline version better, but that may very well be due to the fact that I'm accustomed to outlines from comics (and their according animated series) and mangas (and their according animes)...
