Sandboxes. Meaning proper ones with plenty of content such as CoC/TiTS or the character creation aspects of Illusion titles not the empty realporn grind boxes or "walk this linear path to the next event" RPGM-VNs.
And oldschool "touch the girl" type scenes again provided they have good enough graphics and options.
The common feature is significant player choice, agency and interactivity even within the actual sex scenes themselves. Something like The Twist or the slave trainer games nominally has a lot of choice but it mostly amounts to when and where the sex takes place, once the action starts it's a railroad.
Strategy, RPG, roguelike, trainer (although mainly if it's blackmail/maledom-themed), management, card game, board game. Y'know, actual skill-based games, though RNG can be used to good effect for variety and replayability. In general, I like it when progress feels earned and there is a fair bit of downtime between plot points and sex scenes.
I prefer visual novel types where the story really shines through and you don’t have to go through endless grinding in a sandbox game. Of course if a game is done well and I find the sex scenes/girls really enjoyable my dick could care less about the genre lmao.
Proper full sandbox games(Artificial Academy 2, Lilith's Throne) or the adventure game "sandbox games that aren't actually sandboxes"(Man of the House, Summertime Saga) are my go to genres.
I love management games in general, but as porn games I often find them a bit lacking since there's usually so little personal attachment to what you do and most of the characters in the game have no personality other than their statistics, this is an issue with sandbox games as well to some degree, but I often find the openness in which you can approach sex scenes helps a lot in making up for it.
It's very rare that I play an erotic visual novel. I sometimes play Japanese VN's, but I never really play them for the porn and there that's just a nice little bonus. I like working a bit for my video game sex scenes, it makes it so much more desirable.
Funny how response to this type of question have some what changed since I first came on here.
I'd say people including myself are getting tired of the crap people keep putting out.
So what do I like in the game.
First, it needs to be well written.
Avoid obvious plot holes. I don't expect you to be the next great novelist or anything just hit the 8th grade level of writing standard. If you don't know what that is look at any US military manual that isn't part of the Nuclear Power Program and it is written to an 8th grade level in the US. That's not picking on the military that's literally the standard they are wrote to.
The obvious plot holes. If you have a situation and the character can easily get around it in real life rather than be forced to go through it. It's best to leave it out / not use it. That or you need to do some serious work in planning how and why they can't get around it. If you don't it kills immersion / believability.
Rules: there are rules to everything. Authors that do not understand this fail miserably. Even in a world that has magic any good story or world the magic system always has rules in how it works. Yes, magic can over come natural laws. But there are still rules.
Genre:
My personal tastes are typical for a strait male. Not into other dudes, harems are ok, not into sharing or NTR were someone is taken away. Not into futa or trans.
As for NTR:
I don't have an issue with one's I am doing the taking.
I don't mind one's were she is a cheating slut as long as I'm not expected to associate as the person she is cheating on.
If I can't avoid or turn of trans, futa or sharing content the game is an absolute no go for me.
Out side of that VN, RPG, Open world are all good as long as they are done well.
I like real choice systems and having to think. I hate stories that pretend to give you a choice but do nothing.
Don't waste my time just put a next button instead of pretending my dialog does shit.
corruption games, exhibition, types are favorites when done correctly.
