Why are there not many games made by Unreal Engine 5?

I thought there would be massive changes with the development of game engine, but under the situation of porno making today, many eroges are still using engine like RPGM,RenPy,html,Unity.I'm not trying to criticize, really, but it seems eroges made today fall behind this era(from the viewpoint of mine).

So i wanna ask what's the cause of it?Or actually UE5 is not as popular and easy-to-use as I think?

I highly appreciate whoever answers

Out of what you listed, Unity's probably the only one of these that can actually be compared with UE5, since the other three are in their own niches.

I'm guessing that Unity just has more of a reputation for being accessible and easier to start with than UE5, so unless the devs think that UE5 can do something for them that Unity can't and that using UE5 would be more worth their time, they'll use Unity over it.

Only if your product clears 1 million USD in revenue. If a game manages that, I doubt the 5% cut would sting too much.
Is it really 1 million? I remember it being every 5 thousand or so. They must have changed it or maybe I'm just remembering wrong.

Yeah, seems like they bumped up the figure in 2020. Maybe after they launched the EGS, they realised that nickel and diming indie devs was pulling in negligible cash.

As for OP, there's a VAST difference between making 3D renders for a VN and making a 3D game of the same visual fidelity. House Party has been in development for at least 5 years, and is still set in the same house with the same scenario. Last Hope in a single spaceship with a few rooms. Wild Life seems more like an animation display sandbox, I'm not sure if there's an actual story mode or how deep it is. Monolith Bay seems the most open from what I've seen, but even that has a rough cartoon look that's not to everyone's taste. Even a legendarily dumb game like Bonetown released all the way back in 2008 has more of a game-y feel to it than most of these.

Not to mention, the majority of the players don't seem to want any open world, judging by the derisory comments whenever a sandbox environment features in a game. They want a sex power fantasy where they can go through a story, make some choices (not any that lock out possible sex partners though) and get to the fap scenes. Not much motivation to bust your hump painstakingly making a 3D world, and the comments are that it takes too long navigating through your stupid level to get to the good stuff.

From what I understand of UE5, it shines mostly (when compared to others) when you want to make big open world games. Generally, those kind of games are only realistically viable if you have at least a reasonably sized team. As a solo, it would probably not be a good idea because the world would feel boring/deserted. As for smaller real time games, it's probably good, but then, UE4 was good for that too, so not really a reason to see a boom because of the launch of UE5.

And Unity also is good for this, while being easier to use and having a bigger community and a lot of tutorials. Plus while Unreal only works on Windows and Linux, Unity also works on Mac, Android and can be played on a web site through WebGL ; to name only the platforms generally targeted on the scene.

Wow. I had the same question. The ability to have character "renders" easily modulated and the ease of creating character expressions is huge. Just look up the youtube videos on it.

I don't care if it's only done as screenshots. The Renpy devs are like "i just created 1500 renders" Uh, you know UE5 will create all that with a slider options??? LOL So much potential.

UE5 doesn't have a character creator. You're probably talking about Meta Human which is an online tool by epic still in beta phase. Very clunky and slow, and its web only. And Ren'py devs use DAZ for the renders (mostly), which already has sliders, sooo.

I just wanna make one thing clear, DAZ, as bad and unoptimized it is, is lightyears ahead of anything else when it comes to character creation. If it gets a better render engine, better yet, a realtime render engine. That would be endgame right there.
If you say so, i guess it must be. LOL.

Anyway, that superman UE5 video. Created by a random pleb... The future is bright. Regardless of the naysayers.

Money for one, but mostly I think is because people don't want to make a 3d game out of it but a VN and Ren'py is heavily specialized on that, also unity is just easier to use + cheaper(assets, etc... Also talking form memory) + lighter (you don't need a high-end PC for unity but for unreal you need at least mid-end or you will suffer) so overall for beginner unity is better for everything that isn't highly specialized and Ren'py is great for VN's, RPG maker is even easier than unity and gives out a retro vibe that people like.

I like unreal but to make a game to such a small niche like adult games is an investment I wouldn't make, at least for my first games, but hey if the person has the time and money they can sure make something amazing but anyone outside of the niche will need more then awkward sex scenes to make them play it so it needs good gameplay and interesting story.

Because unreal requires a bunch of skills that are not required when using renpy + daz/hs/kk combo.
I've tried to make the transition about a month ago, and it was much harder than I expected, so for the time being I'm taking the time required to learn all the skills I will be needing and I am sticking to simpler engines until I get there.
