Nice
but it is not almost every game. Also Batman's, Superman's and Megamind's stories for example all start with the death of their parents.
Not sure you know what clickbait is but ok. I'd have accepted literally one reply explaining why damn near every story has this trope, I'm not fishing for 1000 replies, clicks or attention. I even said it was a legit question as I'd like to know the root of this trope. I didn't write
"Guess what I have a question about...YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT!"
No, it's as straightforward a question as one could ask. That's the opposite of clickbait.
Also, SOME stories start with tragedy. Sure. To compare 3 superhero stories to the overwhelming number of AVNs that have the trope feels disingenuous and a tad lazy.
The front page of the games section currently hosts about half that start with a dead parent or parents. That's crazy lmao. Seemingly every synopsis:
"You start as a young man that just finished college...and your parents died in an airplane collision"
"You play as Billy, a mild mannered teenager that cannot decide what soda to buy from the vending machine. Oh, did I mention that your parents just died? No? Well, they did. Horribly"
It's clearly an overused trope and I'd like to know if there is some deeper reason beyond bad writing.
I guess it's the trope I'm curious about more than the specific number or percentage some here seem obsessed with. "No, not most! It's definitely less than 66.3% and therefore less than the total of..."
Who cares. You have to get my overall point. Haha.
So, fine. How about A LOT? Like, way too many. Is that better?
